J.Williams eatery never fails to impress, great seasonal menu with perfect contemporary flavour combinations each and every time. Their coffees are also fantastic. The best spot in all of Wynyard quarter, a place to keep your eyes on and visit if you haven’t had a chance yet.
J.I love a place where every single staff member is warm and friendly and does their job well regardless of whether they’re looking after you or not. There was great communication from the get go about meals taking a little longer than usual (30 mins) which I always appreciate. We sat outside and enjoyed a couple of mimosas and a yum vegan toast option. Surprisingly filling! The outdoor seating is lovely and spacious, it feels peaceful out there, unlike some other cafes outdoor areas. Definitely returning.
J.Williams Eatery is a great spot for brunch if you’re wanting something a bit different - there really isn’t another cafe like it that I can think of.
G.Whilst to be honest most stuff on their small menu didn't personally sound appealing to me, the egg and dill sandwich at the counter did strike my eye and was very glad I went with it because it was excellent. To top it off, their tahini chocolate chip cookie also looked very sweet and delicious and it was exactly that. The food helped reduce frustration with waiting 5-10 minutes to have someone come by to place an order at our table (required by Covid restrictions). Lastly, liked that they had outdoor seating as inside was pretty loud with music that'd make it harder to talk.
A.Great place to relax with a coffee, or a wine. Food choice is difficult as all wonderful. Service fun & friendly. Thank you for a fab experience.
O.Trendy Melbourne-vibe cafe with friendly service. They were reasonably attentive whilst we sat outside. Good for groups, brunch dates, girl gangs and work meetings. Toilets are lovely with nice hand soap. Food came out relatively quickly, the Kumara sour dough was a tasty novelty. The ragout was heavenly and was helped sobered us up after a hangover. The triple fried fries were a bit of a let down. Obviously cooked then cooled/frozen. Had a few chips which were still icy in the middle. The accompanying sauce was creamy. Overall food was delicious but the chips were not as satisfying as I had imagined. Coffee was perfect also. So not really a 4 star place but not quite a 5.

K.A spot I visit regularly. The team here are super lovely and make hungover mornings more tolerable. Reliably great coffee with oat milk availabile(!). The menu changes seasonally but there's always pasta options and classics with a modern twist. Current favourites are the berry waffle and heirloom tomato pita (pictured).

I would really recommend the Buttermilk Pancake w/Bacon, it was worth every penny. My partner loved it and will be willing to come back just for it. 👍🏻👏🏻♥️
However, my food, which is the salad(apologies I forgot the name), was just ok, nothing special really. and it's my first time to have a poached egg that is well done, which is kinda frustrating.
Shoestring fries was too salty. Appreciate if there was less salt in it, we can add salt and pepper anyway since they have these on the table.
For our shared pork belly, I like it, melts in the mouth. but my partner feels like its too much cajun in it.
Appreciate as well the staff who asked us about our experience and atleast they are open to feedback. We went there on a public holiday so the resto was pack.

D.Williams Eatery has one of the best Level 3 lock down menus. There was a definite queue but the food was interesting, tasty, and healthy. The coffee was also superb.

R.A very nice newly opened cafe/restaurant in Wynyard quarter. Chef pays attentions to menu. Menu is adjusted seasonally using seasonal and locally grown produce. Menu is more fusion style, would recommend to those who love trying different combinations. Thoroughly enjoyed food and coffee, specially loves the hot chocolate!

F.Great food and amazing service in a cozy Nordic themed environment. Went for a late lunch and ordered beef short ribs. Perfect sized dishes for one person, and very well balanced flavours and ingredients. This all day eatery has one of the best lunch menus around if you want something decently sized. Oversized windows let in so much light, perfect way to enjoy the summer. I definitely want to return here to try their breakfast offerings

M.Can’t comment on the food as yet as we only had a hot cross bun with our coffee. Lovely Sunny spot in the heart of the new tank farm district and excellent fit out. We had booked for brunch, so it was a surprise to find that our table was around the corner in the shade instead of having one in a prime spot - felt like a bit of an afterthought, to be honest.
Coffee orders weren’t taken straight away, though that may have been because we told them we were being joined by friends but I usually find coffee being brought immediately in cafes, so a bit strange. Hot cross buns ordered rather than a proper breakfast, as our friends ended up not being able to make it, but delivered un-toasted, and we weren’t asked. Wife happy with this, but I like mine toasted - when it was, the bun was heated and not split before toasting (maybe I'm being picky, but...). Our coffee still hadn’t been delivered by this time, so a bit disjointed all around, unfortunately. Will try again, however.
Right , returned for number 2 visit on a terrible day of horizontal rain, so no outside seating. Changed the rating to 4 though I'd rather give 3.5 but can't on this system.
The food was good, although my scrambled eggs were overcooked. Next time I'll specify creamy. My wife's avocado on toast was 'delicious'. The menu is fairly limited for brunch options. The coffee was good enough and the inside space is very noisy with lots of hard surfaces - not great if your hearing isn't. Overall, on the right day, this is an excellent choice but a bit of noise dampening inside and the kitchen paying more attention to the dishes would make it superb.

A.I liked the decor, super busy when I went for brunch on a Sunday. I had the corn waffles, the waffles were delicious, but I wish the topping had more than just strawberries in it. Overall a great experience!

S.Very photogenic cafe and dishes, with an inventive menu. I had the rice porridge with pistachio granola and cranberry coulis. Good textures and beautiful dish, however was missing some oomph. My partner had the herb scramble with a stunning yellow yolk on top. He said it was good, not outstanding. Long black looks like it hit the spot for him.
C.Amazing Eatery! Thank you William whoever you are, I had one of the best breakfasts here. Service was fabulous, the barista guy was so funny and friendly, on top of that my coffee was beautifully presented and tasty. Defiantly my new spot to go for brunch with friends.
Y.Atmosphere very quaint and professional. We were there for a small team brunch. They have a seasonal menu and food is pretty good. The only fault in service was that the waiter got a couple of our orders slightly wrong - 2 of us wanted scrambled eggs on sourdough toast but both of them came as poached eggs.
A.I had the sausage pita for breakfast. It was nice enough: very oily but the herbs that were dumped on top helped.
My main complaint is that the chef seems to have used every herb in the kitchen in one confused jumble.
M.Williams Eatery is our 'go to'. Love the food, interesting wines and the cool vibe. You won't find the 'run of the mill' menu filled with the predictable, the dishes are all unique and tasty. Coffee is excellent and the staff very professional and friendly.
A.Nice atmosphere and great coffee. However, the two dishes our table ordered although nicely presented, were quite bland (the falafel bowl, and the buckwheat bowl). I'm not sure if it was the uncertainty of restrictions at the time but we also found it very hard to call the attention of wait staff when we wished to order more drinks.
All in all, if I was in the area I would try again because it was an unusual time for a cafe to be operating.

As I usually do, I ordered an espresso and had my taste buds run amazing ride that I haven't experienced at many other cafes even overseas.
M.Friendly smiley staff. I didn't eat here, only popped in for a wine to catch up with a friend. Only white wine they have by the glass is a chardonnay for $14.00. Rest of the white wines you have to buy the whole bottle.

And of course the AKL famous TAHINI CHOC CHIP COOKIE 🤤 honestly to die forrrrrr.
I can understand why others may think it's too rich or kinda hard to handle. It isn't for the weak that's for sure. Nonetheless, texture wise and ratio of chocolate to cookie was absolutely spot on!
Would revisit for coffee and cookie ☺️ (the eat in menu is not really my type. had all these really weird options... so I don't think I'd ever eat a meal here)

We tried the place just to SUPPORT LOCAL, what we found was an amazing team of helpers, always with a ready smile.
The team are awesome as i have had LAMB BURGER'S for breakfast for 2 days running, at breakfast.
J.Eaten here about 5 times and EVERY time the food, coffee and service gets better. Lovely staff that catered perfectly for a large group, the food was AMAZING (highly recommend the waffles, porridge or the brocolli on toast!) until next time x

V.We went here for dinner for their pasta and wine deal. The meal was delicious and service was great. We had the tagliatelle (all 4 of us ordered this, did not disappoint!) and sides of chips, sprouts and salad, with dessert of bread and butter pudding. Everything was very delicious and was really well priced. We liked it so much we came back for brunch the following day. We had the roasted cauliflower and the smoked fish flatbread with coffees. Very delicious and lovely service!

The staff have even gone above and beyond to cater for the dietary requirements of our large group.

B.Been here a few times, great coffee and fantastic vibes in an amazing area of Auckland. Unfortunately yesterday I went and ordered fries and when they came out i waited a few minutes and put one in my mouth and it burnt my mouth straight away to the point where it now hurts to eat! lol. Maybe let your fries cool down a bit before you serve them?
O.We frequently visit Williams Eatery and it is exceptional - we've never once been let down. Every dish we've tried is amazing, the service is always excellent, and the coffee is great too. Williams Eatery is by far the best place in Auckland for breakfast or lunch.

They have a great selection of beers and wine, good vegetarian and vegan options, knowledgeable, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. J.Booked in a dinner on the weekend via their online booking system which sent both confirmation and reminder emails which was very much appreciated. We arrived a little before our booked time so table was not ready but the friendly staff put together a table for us. Food and drinks were served very quickly and our favorite dish was the fish dish.
M.Great food and friendly staff. We were 5 of us and ordered Kumara sourdough, chips, lamb shoulder, beef pasta and market fish. For desserts we had the pudding, meringue and the house ice cream. All excellent.

Both the salmon and cauliflower dishes were very enjoyable with interesting pickles and vegetable purees as part of the meals.
Coffee was enjoyable, the green tea delivery was a little weird with no mechanism to extract the leaves when the tea has reached the desired strength.
Great sunny outdoor spot on a cooler day and service friendly and speedy.

C.Nestled in a quiet zone of the Wynyard Quarter, this rustic yet modern cafe and eatery was a gem of a find. The staff were friendly and polite. The food was fresh and innovative. If you are after a delicious meal in a great environment I would highly recommend this Eatery.

F.Nice area, open layout really inviting. I personally had the pasta (tagliatelle with beef) wasn't bad actually it was good! It was a bit spicy (personally speaking and keep in mind I'm not the best with spice) so no complaints about the food. Drinks on the other hand were a different story. The drinks list is quite small leaving alot to be desired. There are only 2 different wines per style usually and one of them will probably be bottled. There was a very small range of beers and non alcoholic drinks aswell. It would be good to see a bit more (even if only sold by the bottle). Becuase of this I stuck with water, I don't fancy sparkling so stuck with still. Water was warm would love for it to he chilled, not sure if sparkling would be different. Probably wouldn't choose for a first stop but as it was basically below the apartment I was staying that I wouldn't mind returning. Especially if the drinks improved.
a.Great spot for brunch or all day dining. Small menu with very yummy food. Good spot for weekday coffee too. Dog friendly which is fantastic! Definitely one of my favs!

The Wynyard Quarter location is fantastic and allows the versatility to soak up the sun outside while sipping on a Williams coffee, or enjoying the atmosphere inside with a glass of wine and a few friends.

L.My new regular spot! Love the filter coffee and incredible service that comes with. Had a good chat with one of the awesome wait staff and was stoked to learn that all of their ingredients are locally sourced + free range and organic! No wonder it all tastes so damn good

R.I had walked passed this eatery a number of times, as I live in the area, and decided it was a great option to try for a late brunch when catching up with a couple of friends. I actually booked online, which was easy and efficient, but probably didn’t need to as it wasn’t overly busy once we got there, (but can imagine it would be wise to as the place gains popularity and the residential population base at Wynyard increases). The welcome was warm and friendly and the space surprisingly cosy given the minamilist industrial /Scandi interior and the bleak day outside. What was also surprising was the acoustic buffering ( not sure how or why) in the large open plan dining area- it was so lovely to not have to shout or block out the next tables conversations.... it made the place seem very calm and relaxing. The menu is not extensive, but as others have pointed out, a few things done well is a grand concept.
