As soon as you step foot in the Beach Cafe you'll feel like part of the whanau. The staff here are what stood out to me, so friendly and chatty, I'd go back just to get a kia ora. I had fish n chips for lunch which were delicious and there's a decent lunch/all day breakfast menu too. You're spoiled for drinks choices and they don't mind your well behaved dog joining you on site. Theres loads of places to sit - inside and out and as the name suggests it has a great summery, beachy vibe. If you're heading down north new Brighton way, definitely stop in.

Second time visiting and our experience wasn't as great as the first. Ordered a mocha and hot chocolate and both weren't rich in flavour (weak chocolate and coffee). The milk was also piping hot, therefore had to wait a bit before drinking. For food, ordered the Eggs Benedict and Omelette with onion, cheese and chorizo filling. The Eggs Benedict was okay, the best part of the meal was the hollandaise sauce and sauteed mushrooms. The Omelette was a decent portion and was well cooked.

Well I've got to admit I was slightly disappointed as when we first arrived it looked like a great little cafe. We were greeted and served by friendly staff. The let down was by the kitchen staff even though the meal was and looked good nearly all of it was cold. You say why didn't I asked to have it heated my answer is it would have overcooked some things like the bacon and scrambled eggs. Would I go back yes but would I get the big breakfast again I'm not sure. Overall it's a good place to go for a coffee and cabinet food.

First time visitor from the other side of town. It was a pleasant surprise as l didn't know the cafe existed. My food was lovely and the coffee was perfect. It was a joy to share the cool shaded outdoor tables with canine guests. Would recommend a visit if you are in the vicinity.

After previously reviewing staff who didn't seem to be enjoying their role, this time everyone was great! Friendly, helpful and efficient. Our Vax passes were recorded and we were asked if we had scanned - all politely! Food was really tasty too. Will be back!

Not great for allergies but has a nice kid play area. Never has anything dairy free or vegan in the cabinet, have asked everytime I go and they never even say they will look into it. Also very limited vegan options on menu, usually end up getting a few sides but they charge a fortune for this rather than realising its their fault the menu is so limited. We asked multiple times and now we just get coffee when we go. It's a shame its one of the only cafes in the area

Great atmosphere and warm, friendly service. The cafe is very open and full of natural light, you don't feel cramped or packed in. Wonderful coffee and hot chocolate. The food was hot and delicious, with portions that had us very full.

I often go here to grab a coffee and something nummy and naughty while my vehicle is getting repaired down the road. The coffee is always great and this eatery is often overshadowed by fabulous Naked Bakery which is only a stone's throw away. However, it's got lovely cabinet food and fabulous indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are genuinely nice too. I definitely enjoy the time I spend their having a treat while reading the paper or my phone.

One of our favourites!!! Amazing food and service alike with a warm feeling of New Brighton community. We always get Eggs Benedict and can’t fault it amongst other delicious things on the menu!! We took our parents twice now and they love this place. Not to mention pooches are also allowed and you have Waimairi beach right there on your door step! It’s a gem, can’t wait to be back! 😋

Great place with fantastic staff. Have started coming here with a friend after our walk in Bottle Lake Forest. It's great that they're dog friendly so we can take her three little fur balls and there's even dog treats available. The coffee is fantastic and the food is yummy. Staff that actually smile, are personable and actually interact with their patrons is just the icing on the cake. Highly recommended. 👍

Came for a coffee and the playground. Ended up having brunch, was torn between the panekeke or waffles, was recommended the corn fritter stack and it did not disappoint. Good coffee, nice wee area for kids. Friendly service.

We were looking for a cafe that was dog friendly as we had our pup with us. This place came up! Lets give it a go. And all I have to say is AMAZING! The staff firstly were brilliant, helpful took our orders straight away knowing we were in a rush (sadly). We ordered the chicken burger and chips and chicken, avo sandwich and chips both bloody good! The atmosphere, the music and all the ladies were AMAZING! This will now be our new go too! Roll on summer!

My meal was clearly microwaved and stone cold in the middle. (They microwaved avocado??). Very disappointed. The staff was also on the phone when they brought our meals out to us. Vibe is cute though so hopefully was just a bad day for them.

Great spot close to North Beach. The cafe is pet friendly which is a huge plus as our dogs come everywhere with us where possible. Service was friendly and our breakfast and tea was delivered quickly. The food was good value and great tasting mid-level fare. Perfect for the style of cafe this is. Really enjoyed the stop here and the stroll on the beach afterwards.

Visited your cafe today with a friend and what a lovely surprise, coffee was very enjoyable and the staff were a lot of fun. So impressed stayed and had lunch and a wine with another friend. Plenty of choices in the cabinet, but we decided to go with the menu. My salmon salad was fresh and very tasty and my friend really enjoyed her seafood chowder . We will be back.

My friend and I thought we'd try the Beach Cafe today as we'd heard it was greatly improved under new management. We were pleasantly surprised as the food was delicious with plenty of variety to choose from and the staff were very friendly and efficient. It was a beautiful warm day so we sat outside in a lovely sunny, sheltered spot and ended up staying for several hours. All the while the friendly staff checked up on us to see if there was anything we needed. I therefore highly recommend this cafe.

Hadn't been here for a while but three of us tried it again today for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. A warm welcome, quick service, delicious lunch. In fact one of us had to ask for a doggy bag as the meal was huge. Will definitely be going back.

Popped in here with a friend hoping to find something appetizing looking and gluten free for medical reasons from the cabinet or at least be able to get a bowl of hot chips but disappointed that all they could offer me was a brownie that was pretty much tasteless with watery bland cream on the side,presumably from a can.I also ordered a coffee,flat white and it also tasted bad,sorry but this place has gone down hill since new ownership.In their defence,they were friendly enough although not overly welcoming and I could order some meal items from their menu that they could do gluten free but anything with bread had an extra $2 charge added to it which can be standard in most places.I somehow doubt if I will ever return unless the standard of food improves.

I heard this cafe is under new ownership and took my friend there for breakfast. The service was great, and the food was superb and beautifully presented. Really lovely little place right by the beach. It was nice to walk in after spending time with the dogs on a walk. It was a very busy Sunday afternoon and there was a slight delay in receiving my food. Despite being flustered, obviously rushed, and understaffed, the employees managed really well and we're still incredibly friendly and helpful despite the situation they were in. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Have been going to beach cafe for over 6 years and through stages of different ownership. Location great. But today from the waiter to counter staff and speaking directly to the chef OMG. They got our coffee orders wrong kept bringing the wrong coffee when finally got coffee had asked for hot milk on the side. Didn't get milk had to ask for it 3 times and in the end had to go counter to get it and made to feel unwelcome and a nussience. Also asked for water and waiter said he would bring it to the table. 20 minutes later still no water and had to go back to counter to ask for water. When counter staff brough the water picher and glasses to the table they slammed them down and left not saying one word just an annoyed look on her face. Now if you have children you know how picky they can be so we asked the waiter for a plain waffle again OMG what we had to go through just to get that and the waiter not understanding what we wanted and then talking to the chef again using the word annoyed and telling us to talk to waiter. When it came to paying for the plain waffle (which ended up only gettting served half a waffle) they charged us $18 and after talking to 4 separate people what the price should have been, they finally ungaciously took it off the bill. (We were happy to pay a fair price for the waffle) It seemed that where understaffed and what staff they had were not up to task. What a shame as the food was hot and delicious what was an improvement on previous owners.

We went here on Waitangi Day, had heard lots of negative comments about the cafe. Other than it's rather tired décor, I couldn't find fault. Water brought to the table, hot drinks arrived promptly and though busy, our meals arrived without any delay. I had the Chicken goujons (gf) with willing, a small tapas dish, brilliant.
