Friendly. Quick, decent coffees. Awesome kids platters, good GF options. Meals were pretty good. Perfectly poached eggs, mediocre bacon, excellent mushrooms. Amazing outdoor seating, really lush. I'd come again. Slightly pricy, slightly smaller meals. Good though.

Went here for my fathers birthday on the 25th Sep 2021. It took about 45-55 minutes for our meals to show and the cafe was not busy. I chose a steak open sandwich with onion jam. Kinda thought it would come with more than just that and a sprinkling of rocket. But no. It was “ok”. The fries were good though. My brother had the same as me and he was disappointed in the size etc especially as it seemed relatively expensive for what we got or didn’t get. Dad had Eggs Benedict/Florentine. He enjoyed that and the other meals - pancakes were pretty standard. I wouldn’t go again by choice but it is a mid way point for my family hence why we go there. Sorry Brick Mill. You were good but after that I wouldn’t personally choose to go back.

The food, mocha, and staff were exceptional. The place is busy for good reason. The only negative is that while eating alone 3 different staff members asked me if the food was ok. Because I'm eating alone sudden conversation when I have food in my mouth is unwelcome and very unnecessary; I'd tell you if there was a problem with it. The management shouldn't be encouraging this behavior.

We went here on Waitangi Day, with a 15% surcharge. It was packed to the brim and bustling with chatter, a pretty standard sign you'd be in for a long wait. The staff handled their workload exceedingly well, swapping out with each other when needing a break, clear communication to customers on wait times upfront (and they were faster than stated), and friendly efficient service. The coffee was great and its nice to see they are awesome with small kids. Food was delicious; we had the filo chicken and cranberry, cheese scone, cinnamon scroll and the pumpkin filo. A really nice touch was that they have blankets in each seating area for use, so thoughtful! Will come again.

This is the first review I’ve ever posted and I’m from Wellington so a bit of context for how impressed I am. My experience at the Brick Mill Cafe was exceptional. The food was 10/10 - I had the eggs florentine and friends had the pancakes, steak sandwich, and the big breakfast. The coffee was DELICIOUS. The ambience at 10am on a Saturday was perfect, but most impressively of all - the service was outstanding. All staff greeted and acknowledged us on arrival. Orders were taken at the counter and since we were a large party of 8, they then double checked that the order was correct at the table before the food came out so they could correct any potential errors in advance. After the food (that was amazing) came out someone checked in to the table again to make sure everyone was happy! We were just calling in for a quick brunch before an afternoon at Adrenaline Forrest, and were blown away by this teams business 🤯 Thank you so much, and we’ll definitely be back (hopefully tomorrow 🤪🤞🏼

We visited for the first time today. The recent reviews were positive & I can only echo what the other reviews say. The staff were warm & professional, & attentive. The iced coffee was delicious, & our meals were delivered in a timely fashion, nicely presented. Well done to the team, thank you.

We went with a large group for a Christmas Lunch. It was a very warm sunny day and we were seated outside. There is a lovely purpose built shaded area but unfortunately we were seated on the grass which was not as well shaded. The service was generally very good with the staff being very helpful and attentive and allowed a good gap between courses so we were not rushed. They regularly check to see if we were happy and quickly fixed any complaints. We had a set menu which offered a good choice. The servings were adequate but not over generous and the food was well prepared, cooked and presented. Overall a pleasant dining experience.

I am 65 years old and in the weekend on the way home from hanmer, we stopped at the brick mill cafe, I had the 2 best scones I have ever had in my life.The coffee was great, the service was great, but the scones were outstanding. Thanks

Lovely place. Good coffee and food. Charged an extra 50c per takeaway item! They refunded when I complained. Just as well. 2 cinnamon scrolls each in a paper bag on a paper plate with a wooden knife and a paper napkin. What a waste of resources. Grrr.

Nice, cosy venue with a couple of interesting stores near by for a stroll after your lunch. Comfy sofas by the front door near a large and cosy looking fire, plus a box of toys, colouring-in, and a couple of high chairs for kids, not to mention a great outdoor area at the back. I've had the salmon eggs benedict as well as the fish and chips here and both were awesome meals. They also do a kids' platter that is varied, healthy enough, and offers impressive value. The staff are very efficient and friendly, and the managers/owners always take a moment to indulge my kid's questions. Very nice place.

This cafe is a great place to stop by if you ever need to go past that area. With great food and views, I would recommend this place, although there was a member of staff that we had a minor dispute with because of an error on that side.

Lots of variety in the cabinet. I had a cheese scone & was delicious, nice & cheesey. Partner had the sausage roll which came with a small side of salad & a relish. Very good & reasonable price. Hadn't been here for a few year's and had a voucher to use. Very friendly service and staff. Gluten free option's were great. Sat outside and was very surprised how lovely it was. Prices were good. Meals are good portions. My husband had big breakfast and he really enjoyed the beans and sauce with all the other food on his plate. I throughly enjoyed my gluten free pancakes with bacon and banana with walnuts, maple syrup, blueberries and a delicious compote. Chai latte was nice. I'll definitely be going back and recommend a trip out to visit the Brick Mill Cafe.

What an amazing discovery. We arrived near closing time after a long meeting, but the staff were incredible! Friendly, helpful and no trouble to get us fed. Did not rush us and the food was delish! They even made up salads for us to accomodate tastes. There is a charming arts & crafts gallery next door so we had a look at that as well. I will be going back here and I would definitely recommend.

Lovely little place just off the highway. Friendly service with a great atmosphere. The little prints and crafts for sale in the Cafe are just a taste of the lovely choices you have from the shops beside. Saw some of the food come out and if it's even half as good as it looked, you won't be disappointed. Definitely trying some next time I'm in. Very handy if you're heading north out of Christchurch. Just off SH1 north end of Waikuku. Lots of parking. Good for trucks and caravans, just pull up on the side of the road. Bigger setups are always looking for easy parking. Food is excellent and staff helpful.
