We came for lunch with our baby, beautiful Stonegrilled mixed meat platter, fries and an iced chocolate. Very friendly and attentive service. Great to support our NZ tourism industry again!

We have eaten here a few times now and every time it has been amazing. The high Country stone grill is to die for especially with the added prawns. They are friendly and professional staff

A bit disappointed with the stone grill all the meat came out raw even the kids chicken which made me concerned about food poisoning 😳 I've never been served a stone grill like those before it would have been great if this was made clear on the menu.. I ordered the lamb shanks I was looking forward to the roast vegetables but it came on potato mash meat was beautiful though.

So nice had two lunches here while staying in Tekapo. Croissants & ciabattas were delicious, packed full of food & lovely & fresh. Great coffee as well. Appreciated the way friendly staff went through & confirmed order before payment. Keep up the good work.

Very nice stonegrill restaurant. Nice portion and not super pricy. The meat was good, one thing I want to add that can be improved was that the fries aioli that was given was I think wasabi mayo. For me this fine, but I think this does not suit everyone's taste. So I think an option for just regular aioli would be nice. The ambiance is cosy and warm here.

This really was a fantastic place to have a couple of beers....get the last of the evening sunshine 🌞 decided to head inside for a meal and it was fantastic!! The host were very kind and hospitable 👍 my wife had the sea food chowder I had a taste,yum,yummy we will definitely have that again,and "The Challenge " a 300g steak slapped on a hot plate cook to your preference along with mash potatoes ,vegies and mushroom sauce,make sure you arrived there on a empty stomach the meal was delicious And a beautiful view of lake Tekapo, just awesome. My first time there and just to soak up our short time at Lake Tekapo just Awesome. Happily that I can now say "I have been there"to this part of beautiful Aotearoa.

Very nice place to sit & have dinner inside or out you can order your meal on a hot stone & cook it your self i would recommend the big steak you get a lot for your money soft drinks well priced cider was a bit expensive. Was disappointed that stone grill were sold out after we were seated. Staff should advise customer in advance prior we seated down and accept reservation. We left with disappointment as stone grill is the reason for our visit. Came back the second day early at 6pm and ordered the signature stone grill. Mixed grill offered the best value, we had tasted deer meat the first time and were OK. Chicken is bit dry and tasteless even with the grill sauce. The rest are satisfactory , Mackenzie might well be the biggest tourist attraction in the area.

A really nice restaurant with really good food. During our recent week in Tekapo, we ended up returning there a few times to eat as the food was so good. Lovely service, highly recommended.

Two of us ordered rib eye steak, seafood chowder and Caesar salad to share. The food was ok, big portion. Generally the service is normal, just the restaurant was very busy. What makes me disappointed was the cashier staff didn’t give us the change after we pay, until we waited for some time and asked. Then he said ‘oh you want the change?’ It was like he expected that was his tips. But to be honest even in US, we won’t give $30 tips for $70 food & beverage . We felt like if we didn’t ask, he will just keep it as his tips and let us wait forever lol

Lucky to get a table as they were very busy and we had not booked. Good choices on the menu with lots of gluten free options. Very little in the way of Vegetarian options, vegetable lasagna as the main. Started with buffalo mozzarella, tomato and salad and my wife had cheesy garlic bread. For mains I had monk fish mash potatoes and peas in hollandaise sauce and my wife had stone grilled venison, beef and lamb. The food was all excellent, very tasty and well presented. The creme brulee was amazing. There was a very nice view of the lake and the venue well thought out in terms of decor.

Just stopped in for a drink and a snack. Lovely place to do so, sat outside, staff were lovely and friendly. Loved that they played my favourite country playlist in the background.

Friendly staff and a warm welcome. Nice outlook to the lake but the effects of covid could be seen in the building with some areas needing maintenance. The cocktails were yummy, we ordered a stone grill and the meat was tender, unfortunately the sauce and veg were lacking. No greens and only root vegetables were served. The roast potatoes were not the right type to be cooked this way. What started with great potential ended in disappointment.

1 Star less due to the snail like and unorganised service. This restaurant could do much better with more pros on their team. If you come early, it is a great experience and things move smoothly. If you have a late reservation things get extremely slowly. Either they have inexperienced waiters or cooks, or not enough, or both of them. The food though was great, I had the lamb chops, which were delicious and a point and my husband had the stone grilled fillet which was also excellent, the meat was extremely tasty.

The staff here are wonderful. We had a very friendly and helpful waitress (I didn't catch her name but she wears yellow sneakers) who was super great at accommodating various food allergies (especially gluten), even though it made our order pretty confusing. The food was tasty and well cooked, I had the fish and chips and a hot chocolate. Affordable and nice welcoming atmosphere!

Stone grilled was okay and came with dressed salad but not the Fish n’ Chips! The fish was think like a paper while the batter was too thick. Also the fish was cooked by reused oil which the fish colour was not gold but brown and the salad with no dressing only the mayor and ketchup were provided.

We visited here a few years ago and found it fantastic. This time round it was a very different experience. Although the food was very nice the menu was very limited and quite expensive. Some of the wait staff were good. Others were perhaps new to the job and not so good. It seemed to take ages for them to take our orders and with table overflowing with plates and glasses we had to ask if they could please clear them away.

The service is good, we ordered 2 fish and chip and 2 grill stone 200g Beef Rump. The fish and chips are good, the fish is perfectly cooked and taste good. The rump will be cooked on the hot stone by yourself to your taste. The meat is pretty fresh. But because it’s rump, so it’s kind of dry. Overall it’s a pretty good place for lunch. Oh, we love the coffee, mocha, are good.

We visited at a difficult and special time when nobody visits lake tekapo and saw no tour buses. This place is reasonably priced considered at this location. We had 2 stone grills and a kids meal. We had a good time. If you want cheap eat go to chinese next door where $20 you get a fry noodles. Life is not all about saving money so you should go to this place when you are here.

Not too bad a meal, arrived at 4.30pm, yet, was told by the waitress, dinner isnt served until 5pm, yet the restaurant was open, so what's the difference what time it is if the place is open? Not a lot of choice on the menu, especially fish, apart from salmon, however, ordered the stone grill rump steak, but only given a small side plate to eat it off! But, to be fair, the meal was delicious, apart from a few little glitches. One is, give the diner a bigger plate!

Had dinner last night. Very busy place. We didn’t book and were glad to be squeezed in at a bar table by the host. Food were tasty, generous portions. Huge list of wine and spirits. Service even better. The staff were running everywhere, still attentive and helpful. If the guy (probably manager or onwer? not in uniform) worked a bit more instead of talking for a long time to others, it would help a lot (no offense). Definitely will come back and highly recommend you book in advance.

Majority of the staff were great. Ordered a couple of hot plates and didn't realize the food comes out raw, so if prepared to cook it yourself order that. Wasn't impressed when chicked was extremely raw, considering the food risks with chicken. The beef, and lamb didn't have much flavor to them. Would come back and try some items that dont come out with a hotplate but otherwise wouldn't order a hot plate meal from here again.

Tuesday night was the night when we had most delicious meal in NZ. The service was so great as well. if you'r lucky then you can get a nice view table which makes you fall in love with this place. our waiter was so lovely that he he was actually enjoying serving us with a big smile. We stopped by for lunch and the place was generally not crowded so we got to sit at a table with a great view of the Lake Tekapo. Ordered the land lovers trilogy on stone grill and the fish and chips - both arrived quite fast! I was pleasantly surprise! The cuts were good, and it was special cooking on the stone stove. We blew into Tekapo quite late and decided we needed to eat. Rang Mackenzies and although they were fully booked, they accommodated us. All staff were friendly and helpful. The meals were great! Hubby even had food envy - which never happens. Next time we're in Tekapo we will definitely return.

Dined here on a Monday evening and it was very very quiet. Only 3-4 other tables were full. The staff were very attentive and were constantly changing our water and asking if our food was ok 😊 I had a margarita pizza! Delicious! Nice crispy base and lots of cheese. My partner had beef cheeks which pullled apart and had a yummy sauce. Yum!! Only down side was a few flies inside and the tables starting to look run down.

Best place we could find in tekapo. Warm welcome arriving with our a booking. Luckily enough able to be seated straight away. Advised of a mushroom soup special. Drinks decided upon were a cider- very refreshing, hot chocolate- heartily warm, chocolate milkshake - made him happy and mulled wine - a bit too spicy. Meals were 3 hot plates with various meats and one lamb shanks. Cheesy Garlic bread to start. Garlic bread came first. It was nice and garlicky. Hot plates came. Great that you can cook your meats to your liking. For chicken an extra precaution of two knives was great. The meats were all very tender. Salads and hot chips went well with the meals. The lamb shank fell off the bone and had a beautiful flavour. Mash was light and fluffy. Desert menu was tempting but Betty full from the mains. Staff were very friendly. Although saw an obvious mid twenties woman get refused alcohol. Her id was not acceptable in nz. So take a passport. Scary I know!

Last month, we went to the restaurant and waiter said no seats are available at the moment.And me and mum were thinking we should wait for 45-1hr or not. And we went outside but it was a busy time for dinner everywhere so we decided to back to the restaurant and i said" we'll wait. So i'll write my name down on waiting list" And the waiter talked with waitress with blonde hair. And she let us to sit in the restaurant!!I thought it was a full house. We were very surprised and wasn't expected it at all but thanks to her, we could get a table for 4ppl. But just me and my mum. And she was looking after us and very attentive and cheerful person! Great service and had a great meal. A fillet steak was absolutely delicious and my 70yold mum could eat all! The steak was so tender and juicy! I ordered ribeye steak with well-done but some parts weren't cook enough because i'm pregnant so i couldn't eat that part but it was the second time to visit there and i know how yummy steak they have.So tried with well-done. Kinda ashame but overall, Perfect!! Thank you very much to the lady who has blonde hair(Sorry, i should've ask your name). At the payment area, we talked and i didn't pay attention about my receipt, and after i left restaurant, i noticed that on the receipt has "tip 〜%"or "Tip $". . . I should've checked the receipt at the time and i'm japanese so usually, NZ and JPN don't have "tip" so i wasn't think about that. Also i had no cash with me at the time. Very attentive waitress and staff. Trained well and me and my mum felt very welcoming at the restaurant and my mum just visited for 12days from JPN so i'm so happy to be there with mum. Thank you very much Mackenzies restaurants all staff! To the waitress, good luck if you work in JPN sometime. Kyoto, Tokyo area would be good. Check it out when you have free time. Thanks a lot! I am very happy with the service of the staff at Mackenzie's. Namely Libby and Karan. They were extremely helpful in assisting my friend and I who had lost our car keys and were upset. We didn't get to sit down and eat but we we were still served as customers. Karan was so kind as to bring us water over while we charged our phone in order to call auto services. I have never seen such kind staff and lovely people working at a place and will definitely be visiting again soon to properly dine!

Update 3 stars Went up half a star. They did to their credit replace a half drunk drink that my partner had and I knocked over and replaced it with a full drink. But the rest of the review still stands That's being generous. Bar staff needs clarification on where people can sit while waiting for their table. There were empty bar leaners, if they just wanted them specifically for drinkers then put a sign on the leaner stating this. Otherwise it would b a perfect opportunity to get a first drink sale and put them on a bar leaner while they wait. Partners chicken dish was not cooked properly (not good to serve that to a pregnant woman). Waiter was fantastic and replaced this as soon as possible. He was apologetic but there was no apology passed on to the chef (not to assume that the chef wasn't sorry). Replaced with vege lasagne which was amazing. I had the stonegrill and obviously u can't screw that up. Was a great meal but the fries weren't great. Not terrible enough to not eat though. So it was just a mention at the end. Waiter was apologetic again and took chicken dish off bill. Even though it's not a requirement, courtesy would dictate offering a complimentary coffee or dessert. It's a small cost to keep people happy Just a few other things (so I don't sound like a whiney person) i have worked in hospo for the past 14 years, managing restaurants, service was attentive but not once did they ask any table inc ours about more drinks. Also when taking out food, take the food to one table. Not multiple tables. Sorry just a pet peeve of mine. Again overall 2.5 stars. It could b better but just a few small changes would b good

Decent place close to the Pepper resort. We ordered custom grill and chicken parm (safe bet). Chicken parm was above average and hard to mess up. Custom grill where the meat was grilled on a hot stone. It's a nice idea so we can cook the same piece of meat to varying degrees of doneness bases on your preference. Taste wise it's nothing to rave about it's a piece of meat on a hot stone... Pretty straight forward.
