Beautiful fire on a cold winters morning with warm and welcoming service 😊 Amazing food selection and yum coffees! A shame we were just passing through - would have loved to sit and drink our coffees by the fire!

This place has always been my must-stop on the way to Hanmer springs. Their waffle is quite good, big portion with reasonable price. However, in my latest visit, I found the price increased and the waffle size largely shrinks, despite the same taste. Probably won’t be back again…

This cafè would not be out of place in a tourist hot spot with it's colonial ambience, gourmet selection, impeccable presentation and lovely warm and welcoming staff. Lots of seating inside and out, covered veranda or shady courtyard.

We were pleasantly surprised with how good the Red Post Cafe was. All the food on display looked delicious; the meals we ordered (lunch) were great. Friendly staff, good food, quick service, good prices, plenty of space, able to have a conversation without having to shout. Clean toilets! We'll happily come back.

What an amazing place! We've been there with my 5 years old boy and he said that he had the most delicious "soft eggs" (pochê eggs) he ever had!!! Best place on trip to Hammer Springs or just go out Christchurch and have a good time!

Highly recommend this cafe. We were served by a young man who was polite and even delivered the coffee to our table making sure the handle of cup was right way to be picked up. Yummy white chocolate and raspberry muffins.

Best cafe I've been in for awhile date scones were tasty and the coffee was good . nice seating areas and clean toilets . The staff were friendly as well. I liked the sayings written up on the roof rafters I will always call in there on my way to and from Christchurch.

Stopped in for a quick cup of tea and was enticed to have carrot cake too as it looked so delicious. Was moderately busy but service and food was quick and attentive, and everything was delicious. Worth a stop.

Pleasant people and good food. The salmon crepes are very tasty could do with more salad. Thai Beef was a little tough some gristle probably the beef néeds some more marinating but very tasty and filling. Cappuccino well worth it. If you're here make it a sunny day and enjoy the secluded outdoor dining. One request, please. Tablecloths. Elderly mother had trouble seating due to uneven ground and just a table cover would go a long way to the very comfortable ambience. But otherwise highly recommend as a stop to and from Hamner or the Coast.

Excellent cafe/restaurant in Culverden. We tend to use it for a coffee and snack on the way through to other places. Good coffee as well as a selection of other hot and cold drinks. Very extensive range of cabinet food plus a menu. Certainly the best Cafe in Culverden in my opinion.

We have been stopping at the Red Post for 17 years on journeys to Nelson and the Coast. However we are disappointed to report that our last two visits have been well below the standard we have got used to. On our last trip the carrot cake was not cooked through and the response of the staff not helpful. The toilet had run out of paper and the roller towel end hanging on the floor. Rarely these days there is no wifi available. Won't be breaking our journey here again.

Was very dissappointed to have my whitebait sandwich served in toasted bread. I specifically asked when ordering if it was white bread. They did not say it would be toasted. In all my 60+ years a whitebait sandwich has never been toasted. I suspect the chef/cook is not a whitebait fan or a west coaster. You live and learn. The cafe was otherwise nice and the staff friendly.

We happened to stop by this little cafe on the way from Christchurch to Hanmer Springs and it turned out to be a fantastic stop on the way! The little Red Post cafe has everything you need, including great coffee, great food and the portion of the food is good too, worth the money! Staffs are friendly and always welcoming to show the "hospitality"! Unlike the owner of "You Hanoi Me" being ridiculously arrogant to us last week. We posted a bad Google review of his restaurant that the receptionist would not give us the table when there were a few empty ones. Just because the owner didn't like to see the negative reviews posting on Google, he blamed us to say we were "uneducated and unprofessional"?! He has blamed the same to other bad reviewers on Google too! We loved this Red Post cafe and definitely will come back here again!

Just love the whitebait sandwiches at this great little cafe. Coffee is always good and, on cold days the fire is lit, a popular spot for the cafe cat who is oblivious to the conversations surrounding. Lots of seating options outdoors on the verandah or in the garden as well as inside. Fast service and often very busy. Well organised and a huge range of menu and cabinet food. Always enjoy stopping here.

Stopped in for an unexpected late lunch on a Sunday. Family had kids cheese burger, berry smoothie, ham\cheese\tomato croissant, toasted sandwich & a hot chocolate. The HC was wonderfully hot!! Quaint little place, lovely and warm with friendly service. If we're ever back this way, wouldn't hesitate to pop in again☺️

Wanted a takeaway cup of tea in my own cup. Was going to be charged $2 more than advertised board price for this because it was a 'medium' size. I said I'd just have a small (in my cup) which took it down by $1. When I queried it, I was told the board price was if you were having a pot of tea in-house. I duly ordered this: nice pot of loose-leaf tea, jug of milk, extra hot water and jaffa. Let it brew for a bit before before pouring into my cup and heading on my way. It was a good cuppa, but didn't understand the logic around the pricing.

This place has atmosphere, good, friendly service, a really delicious cuppa tea. Parking nearby. Be sure to visit the art gallery a few paces across the square. The best (high quality) paintings of the Alps and local countryside. The Red Post and Culverdon Gallery help make this scenic town great to visit - not to be missed.

The Red Post Cafe is worth putting in your itinerary as a place for a travel break. We just had time for a delicious coffee and fresh baked almond croissant but they had a nice lunch menu, art, and jewelry and crafts to peruse. A little cold when we were there but the garden looked like a lovely place to take a break from the road. I wish it was closer to my home it would become a regular stop for me.
