Brunch menu and cabinet pastries are amazingggg. Coffees were very tasty and staff is friendly. Can get a bit crowded at times but that’s just because it’s so good!

Really nice fresh food, good coffee and not too pricey. Friendly, quick service. Outdoor and indoor seating. Seems very popular spot in Tekapo. Toilets but no baby change facilities.

Dropped by here on our trip and grabbed a cinnamon roll and an iced coffee to take away - delicious and a good size for the price! Other treats looked yummy too. Nicely laid out cafe and very clean, the staff were friendly too.

Lovely buzzing morning place... Great dark rich coffee. And fast service! Nice food all grilled food brought very hot. Delicious and eeffoc good coffee.... A great stop along the lake.

What a nice and confortable place. For me, the best place in Lake Tekapo. Amazing and friendly staff. Food quality it’s perfect. Highly recommended, my partner was super happy with his greedy breakfast 🍳 Just the hours they are operating.

The eggs and bacon hollandaise wasn’t too bad, bacon cooked well and bread was nice but the dish needs more hollandaise sauce and the eggs were over cooked / not runny but still tasted good. The macaroons are amazing! Definitely get one of these if you enjoy a sweet treat.

Have to agree - 5 stars for my seafood pie, like a chunky thick chowder in soft pastry - had two, followed by a deep roasted coffee - superb!

Bought the vegan wrap. Didn’t actually state was inside but tasted like curry flavour. Was pretty average. Coffee was good and the place seemed clean

Delicious breakfast, great coffee, and amazing pastries! We were so impressed with the food here. We had the pancakes and croque madame and highly recommend both. Oh and a mille feuille custard slice! Delicious and friendly service too.

We had a lovely breakfast today. Pancakes with bacon - delicious. The place was very busy, but had great customer service and big meals. Plenty to choose from. Hot chocolate was good. Recommend.

Oh my gosh, the best breakfast we’ve had in a long time! Absolutely delicious, cannot recommend enough! We had the veggie breakfast and the Hello Me toasts, plus 2 PERFECT coffees to top it all off. Such lovely friendly staff too ❤️

We absolutely loved all 4 of our meals over our 3 day holiday. Everything tasted amazing, looked amazing, arrived quickly, the staff was kind and cheerful, despite it being busy everytime we went. Food was very fairly priced too. We had new years eve dinner here and I saw one of the staff help a lady who came up to the staff and was trying to heat up food for her kids. It was so nice to see the staff member help her out. Cannot speak highly enough of the service, the food and the atmosphere. I wish there was a Cafe like this in Auckland!

Fast friendly service. Overall food and coffee standard are good 👍🏻 Just the beef hotpot is too salty. Kids Mac & Cheese and pancake is great. Wide selection of delicious sweets.

Vegan wrap was perfect. Very satisfying for a quick meal, even my meat-loving friend was drawn by the smell and asked for a bite. Great selection of cabinet food too. Quick and friendly service.

The Cafe next door had nothing I wanted, the greedy cow had everything. Coffee was perfect, and the sandwich I got with it was more like a meal, I haven't seen so much in a sandwich in a long time. I will definitely go back next time I'm in the area.The food there is amazing and definitely worth the prices. Great customer service and relaxing atmosphere.

Great place for brekkie before hitting the road. I had bacon and eggs on toast and my wife had French toast with bacon and banana .They were both beautiful meals and the hot chocolate was awesome. Highly recommended A+++

Surprised to be treated so abruptly by the woman at the counter - she kept interrupting me when I was trying to order. Then asked me if I wanted my chicken sandwich (containing lettuce) toasted, which I thought was weird (cooked lettuce??) but ciabatta definitely tastes better toasted, so I agreed... and then she threw it into the microwave! Clearly a cafe for passing-through tourists.

Lovely little cafe in the heart of Tekapo town. Homey, relaxed atmosphere, good chilled music, and the staff are SUPER friendly! To top it off, the food prices are really reasonable and very tasty...we were spoilt for cabinet food choice! As visitors from Wellington we felt very welcome & enjoyed our little spontaneous find in the town! Thank you, team 😊 Highly recommend. 5 stars!!!!! ❤️

Excellent place on Lake Tekapo with friendly, efficient service, great coffee and a delicious Paris-Brest. Such a good filling-to pastry ratio! Loved the quirky decor and the sound from the water dispenser made me laugh out loud - there is a warning sign there I suppose! We will definitely come back when we visit again. Highly recommend this place if you're in Tekapo and searching for a cafe stop. Ka kite ano!

Such a great cafe and amazing food. A good range of meals or cabinet food, coffee was great and the service impeccable. Also a good range of merch to buy as well. Does get busy as it's so popular with the locals and visitors.

Spacious and great food fit for breakfast in paradise.

Excellent food. The Turkish eggs were amazing. My wife ordered eggs on toast with sides, fresh bacon and well cooked eggs. Very happy that we chose to eat there.

My favourite cafe in Tekapo. They are serious about coffee! Great choices for breakfast with options for all, great service always with a smile. Pleasant place to stay inside or in the terrace outside. It can be busy, and hard to find a place, but be patience, it is worthy! Try the egg bene with salmon!

Can't drive past Tekapo without stopping for the most amazing pistachio macaroon, plus the owner is an absolute legend!💚 Go and try one😁

Great place for breakfast and coffee. The croque madame is delicious! Really nice selection for takeaway (bagel, sandwiches, wraps, pastries) if you need some fuel for a hike later. Attentive service was a plus. They got a little backed up around 10am in the kitchen but the wait was well worth it.

The Greedy Cow serves a delicious brunch. We had the french toast (big chunk of fluffy bread soaked in cream, served with bacon, caramelized banana and whipped cream) and the ricotta pancakes (fluffy and sweet). The mocha was sweet, with just the right amount of chocolate. They also have tons of sandwiches, pastries, meat pies, cookies, etc. Service is always friendly and fairly fast.

Pro Ordered pastrami salami sandwich and iced chocolate. Both were delicious and took care to make sandwich. Downside They microwave the sandwich including the lettuce and tomato which is just lazy.

Staff are outstanding: really friendly, welcoming, helpful and accommodating, then there’s the coffee… soooo good. Today started with an Americano at 8, that hit the spot so much so that we had a second at 10! Thank you

Had lunch on way home from Twizel. Beef hotpot and cheese omelette was an unusual combination but very nice. Beef melted in your mouth. Good coffee as well.

One of the two places that I frequent whenever I'm in the area. The Greedy Breakfast is probably the best bang for buck but I personally like the hollandaise sauce on the eggs benny. Seating isn't plenty so it's advisable to go earlier. Also tried the mini beef burger this time round and it was really small. Lol.

Good food and coffee however one of the staff members wasn’t sure when I asked about the chicken bowl as it had toast and why is it called bowl not sure I asked him what is it like he was reading the menu and looked at me Decided to order sandwich and it was good

Definitely worth a visit no matter what time of the day you’re here - great coffee and tea, plenty of seating, and delicious range of food from sweet and savoury morning/afternoon tea treats, right through to lunch meals and wraps. Give the chapatti tacos a go - they are heaven in a tortilla (or chapatti as is the case!)..!!!

THE SPOT FOR BREKKY! If you appreciate the soft, fluffy, and tender egg omelettes of Japan, with the flavour profile of New Zealand, this omelette is for you! Also ordered the eggs benny with salmon: crispy salmon skin with melt in your mouth fresh salmon... superb. The pies are also best in the area. Sad part is that I have to travel to South Island and up the mountains for the best omelettes and salmon for breakfast.

Had breakfast here while visiting Lake Tekapo. Great vibe, delicious food and good service. They do good eggs (tried scrambled and poached). Slightly long wait for the coffee, could be better organised.

Had the bacon & salmon pie and the big breakfast and both were amazing. Big breakfast was plenty for two people so share if you guys aren't big eaters. Staff are friendly as well. Cakes looked good but was too full to try them.

Very popular, coffee was great, my friends breakfast was huge, I had Eggs Benedict with Salmon but was a tad disappointed in the tiny thin bit of nearly dry salmon in an area renound for its salmon. The cabinet food looked great so hoping this was not the norm.

Amazing grilled salami and halloumi ciabatta toastie was definitely worth the stop between Wanaka and Christchurch. Customer service was nice and they had plenty of funny quotes and stickers around the place which made for a positive environment. Would stop by again!

I was impressed. Fresh food. Friendly efficient staff. Good coffee. And as the sign said "Coffee spelt backwards is eeffoc. Just know that I don't give eeffoc until I've had my coffee"

Always great coffee here. We had breakfast (French Toast and Pancakes) and it was very nice. Generous size portion too so you won't be left hungry.

We were traveling in a group of three bikers, all in our 50s, all reasonably well heeled and resourced, we had travelled 450kms, one of put group was unvacinated, long story but he's been sick and his long term doctor recommended not getting jabbed, the case went to Ashley Bloomfields desk and the application got refused. We had already been to the place near the Greedy Cow, and my unvacinated friend had been very rudely and robustly abused by its owner. The staff at the Greedy Cow were both understanding and accomadating, what happened to "be kind to each other nz" thank you Greedy Cow may your kindness be paid forward.

Good food. I'm sorry they are not open in the evenings, there's a shortage of food places in Tekapo. It was a bit expensive adding avocado to a meal - but we should have checked the price before we did it. Next visit - had a great breakfast. Really good food again.

On a recent trip to the South Island my daughter, a friend, and I stayed in Tekapo for 2 nights. On the morning we left we had breakfast here. We couldn’t stop talking about how delicious the food here is. Everything about the premises is immaculate, the food was ahhhhmazing and the staff were so friendly. With the large tables you also get to sit with others so we got to chat to some neat travellers. Thank you for a great start to our day!

A gem in Tekapo. We went there for breakfast and although busy everything moved fast - staff were very professional. We both had the Croque Madam which was delicious. The good thing about The GCC is that the breakfast options are really varied, so you could visit on multiple days and get something different (I also like to get something I can't make at home when I'm getting breakfast). A delicious-looking selection of cabinet food too.

Me and my wife took my Ma and Pa for a drive out to Tekapo for Mothers Day. We stopped here for lunch. The menu selection was great and Breakfast menu went until 2.30pm so there was plenty to choose from. The cabinet food also looked fresh and delicious. Our lunch was excellent, so was the coffee - and as it was Mothers Day, there was a macaron gift for my Ma and my wife. Everything was excellent - and even though busy, the service was friendly and efficient - going to be a regular stopping spot from now on!

The best eggs benedict ever!! This is truly a fabulous cafe, excellent food, coffee and service, a real 5 star find! Went back the next day just to check it wasn't a one day wonder, it's definitely not!

We always seem to visit too late in the day to enjoy the items shown on the menu so opt for cabinet items. Coffee and chai were excellent as always but we were slightly underwhelmed by our sweet treat. Next time, we'll get there earlier in the day to try something else. Staff are great and genuinely friendly.

Food and coffee are excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful and very efficient. Even when it's busy the food and coffee come out fast. Has big tables so expect to be sharing with others.

Ordered a iced mocha with a caramel shot and was very impressed!! Super friendly staff as well! The girl that served me said it was only her second day there but I thought she was doing very well so good on her!! Very friendly, smiley barista and good service in general :) I later on purchased one of their ham & cheese bagels and an iced americano, I think the price is good value for what it is. My parents also enjoyed their coffees (flat whites)

SNATCHED A SPEEDY TAKE-AWAY I expected this coffee to be sub-par, and that would have been just fine. We are on this road trip to see beautiful landscapes, not to drink nice coffee (I would have stayed in my home town if that is all I wanted). I grabbed a take-away latte, right on closing time on Sunday afternoon. The staff were tired, but that didn’t stop the barista making a great coffee. I was stoked with the quality of coffee from the Creedy Cow. The take-away Cup had a sweet design that really was the cherry on the cake of a great experience (yes, I should have had my keep Cup - but one can’t be a hero every day).

Awesome all day breakfast, well portioned and perfectly cooked👌 Would've been five stars but they don't use fresh cream when making a Vienna they use dairy whip 🥲

As the name would suggest...you definitely will not leave hungry after eating here, Good priced, generous portion size, and fast friendly service, we dined here when the cafe looked about 70% full and our food and drinks were ready in less than 10 minutes. Nice outdoor and indoor area to dine at and also takeaway window. Overall a good nice café

Great food and usually great coffee. Mine got burnt this time. I suspect being late in the day didn't help. But I wouldn't miss it when in Tekapo as it's been so good usually.

We went to The Greedy Cow Cafe on a Saturday morning. Although it was shoulder season the place was vey busy. However, our experience was awesome! We ordered takeaway coffee and vegetarian pies (for breakfast how naughty!). The staff were so friendly and not stressed, and the coffee was excellent. THE PIE WOW. The BEST PIE I have ever had in my life. It was packed full of roast vegetables in a creamy sauce and I devoured it. I would recommend this place to anyone passing through.

We had simply the best poached eggs and yummy fresh homemade bread here. Excellent coffee too. Recommend it for breakfast.

Incredibly busy....but surprisingly fast due to the awesome staff. Tables cleared quickly and customers served efficiently by experienced staff. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Amazing selection of cabinet food and well made coffee. This place is quite amazing.

I love the coffee here! I think it is easily the best coffeeshop in the area, with lots of great cabinet options as well as a nice hot menu. I stop here everytime I pass through Tekapo and my coffee is always amazing . The staff is also very friendly!

A lovely cafe! The coffee was hot and delicious. The food was really tasty with a number of different vegetarian options such as big veggie breakfast with tofu, and a scrambled eggs and crispy brussell sprouts. In addition to menu options there was a range of freshly baked goods (i.e., scones etc), sandwiches and Fairlie pies. The staff were really friendly. The cafe was warm and the seats comfortable.

The Turkish eggs are amazing. Wish I could stay another day in Tekapo just to try more if the menu.

Nice place. Good breakfast with a wide menu and coffee selection. They even feature seasonal drink specials for a unique caffeinated treat option. Gets super crowded but there is a nice outdoor seating area in nice weather.

I really loved this place, the food was great and service was fast even though it was quite busy when we got there. I also really loved the theme. A lot of thought and effort has gone in to the style and it made it an interesting place to sit and eat breakfast 😊

Service was great and so was the chicken curry wrap. We had a few of the desserts which were all amazing, but I have to say the Paris Brest is something I’ll be dreaming about!

Had Sunday lunch. Croissants and bagels were very tasty. Good selection of vegetarian options. The dessert offerings are all made on site by pastry chef and are divine. Coffee was good - although should have been hotter. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Always stop for a treat & a coffee at The Greedy Cow when going through Tekapo. They have the best cinnamon scrolls! Also highly rate their cooked breakfasts & lunches. Something here for everyone.

I usually do not write reviews however felt compelled to in this case, as the service and quality of food was unbelievable. In my opinion this is the hands down the best Cafe in Lake Tekapo and the surrounding areas. Situated close to the serene Lake Tekapo, the Greedy Cow offers a vast array of breakfast and lunch options to suit all preferences. The coffee was one of the best I have had in a long time as well, served with care and diligence by a staff that seem to make it their mission to ensure an amazing experience. I cannot recommend the Greedy Cow Cafe enough to anyone travelling through this pristine part of the South Island, it will not disappoint.

Absolutely amazing cafe!!! Went while it was snowing and even though it was after 3:00 they let us in. The curry chicken wrap was DELICIOUS and the coffees were soooooooooo good, not to mention the coffee art was absolutely beautiful! The staff were very very sweet and had lovely smiles. In a word 'fantastic'. Great menu with some interesting flavor combinations. Had the Turkish Eggs, which had just the right amount of heat for a cool morning. When next in the South Island I will make the effort to have breakfast there again.

Had breakfast here while in Tekapo and the food was fantastic. I had eggs Benedict with bacon and it was a really generous serving and done really well. Cinnamon scroll was also amazing. It has a really nice feel to the environment but gets very busy and works with a lot of shared tables. The chai latte was pretty average but still overall a 5 star worthy experience and I’d definitely go back!

Very popular place, constantly busy. Pancakes were nice and filling. They took half an hour to come out, after people that ordered after us, I was very close to asking where they were. The number of tables is quite limited, having some kind of gazebo over the outdoor tables to block the wind would help a bit.

Great little cafe in Tekapo even though tourist numbers are down right now due to circumstances this place was super busy for the 4 days we were in Tekapo especially between breakfast and lunch. Managed to eat here twice once inside and once takeaway. Both times food and coffee was good I tried the Turkish eggs and chicken and bacon sandwich. Friendly staff definitely worth a visit if in Tekapo or even just passing through.

This is a GREAT place to eat !! The food & service is OUTSTANDING. One of the unexpected highlights of my recent (March 2020) trip to NZ. The coffee is ward & rich and food just wonderful. DO NOT overlook the pastries near the order line. The Cream Puffs are to "Die For"! When I return to NZ - I'll be making a special trip to return to Lake Tekapo just to eat a the Greedy Cow Cafe! Coffee was the best weve had in the south island and the breakfast was something you would expect from a top fine dining restaurant. They must have an exceptional chef in the kitchen. This is the place to go in tekapo.

I found this place on Happy Cow and picked up a two vegan rolls and sandwiches as takeaway for lunch. To my surprise, they tasted fresh and very delicious. Also the place is not to expensive as per NZ standards.

I walked in off the street, cold as be in Tekapo, and my glasses instantly fogged. It was cosy, not too hot and a bustle of people on an early Sunday. The hot chocolate I had with oat milk was like a warm hug in your tummy, perfect for a wintery morning. I enjoyed the avocado mushroom toast, I'd have appreciated maybe a lemon olive oil mixed through the avo but otherwise it was a real treat. My mum who was with me, enjoyed the croque-madam, a hearty serving size and delicious with the flavours. Such a nifty café, the staff were all so incredibly friendly and kind. I'd recommend popping in, they also had a great selection of cabinet food.

Easily one of the best coffees in the South Island, The Greedy Cow is a must if you're travelling in and around the Tekapo region. Quaint and cosy interior, 'Cow' offers a nice range of ciabattas, slices and drinks and the coffee is smooth, strong and delicious.

Hawthorne coffee and they serve double shots. Perfect scrambled eggs $10 and a lemon meringue tart $6.50 which couldn’t fault. Barista went out of his way to get the coffee perfect

Rustic seating but the staff there helpful and pleasant. They even took time to offer to take a photo of the family when we tried to take a selfie. Food was amazing.

Stopoed in here for breakfast and it didn't disappoint. Food took a while but we arrived at a busy time of the morning. Coffee was great, as was the substantial Huevos Rancheros and the staff were friendly and efficient.

I'm a regular at this coffee shop, their Mochas with oat milk are smooth and creamy flavor, the staff are friendly and the music is always upbeat to match the visuals of the café, the price is alittle higher than Christchurch City although you won't regret it considering this little coffee shop is always on the ball with the quality coffee made.

The Greedy Cow Cafe is a great place to visit when in search for livestock. There is a large cow out back which you can play with, however, make sure it doesn't snatch your yummy curry wrap out of your hands!!

Amongst the many coffee we had during our adventures in New Zealand, those that we had in Greedy Cow is definitely the best in my list. If I ever swing by Lake Tekapo, I know I will be stopping by here for coffee.
