A.Great experience! Everything on the menu V and lots of Ve and GF options! We ate lunch here on a lovely day in Lyttelton. I was pleased with the portion size and the flavor of my food! Great spiced battered tofu and the chips were seasoned well. Generous with the sauce as well!

C.Absolutely a must to eat at this cafe! They have an incredibly diverse vegetarian menu, use locally sourced produce, & make incredible coffees! They cater for allergies really well & actually listen when you say you have dietary requirements. Highly recommend!
D.Down from Wellington for a few days, decided to meet Lyttelton friends..”at Shroom Room” they said enthusiastically. We arrived at 12 noon, a few minutes early…so looked for a table for 4. One patron was slumped over one table, (possible vegan OD), three other tables had the remains of food spread artistically around, looked like for some time. Various napkins adorned the floor. So in essence, very unappealing.
Walked out the back and a person who appeared to be a managerial type was having an animated conversation with local friends.
No one smiled or looked like they were interested in serving us, so we went down to the Lyttelton Coffee Club for a friendly welcome, a top notch BLT and a hearty side serving of Nick Cave.
Reviews for this place are good, but as some others have said, SR might want to work on the old customer service/clean the tables thingy.

P.An alternative eatery for non-carnivorous diners. The cafe/ restaurant has a hip name indicating a veggie joint. Mushroom get it? Great selection of food items on the chalkboard and the cabinet. However, the sausage roll I ordered was rather dry and bland. We went there during the holiday period so the cafe was pretty packed and the service was a tad slow but I think it will be much better in any other weekends. A pretty cool spot to hang-out and chillax otherwise.
M.Had brunch here after visiting Lyttleton Market. Very busy cafe, helped in part due to its fantastic location. The turmeric latte was very nice. I also had a Halloumi bagel with poached egg, hollandaise sauce and side salads. The side salads very varied, fresh and tasted fantastic. The Halloumi didn't have much taste and the addition of the chutney over powered and clashed with the hollandaise - unfortunately my egg yolk was hard. The dish looked very appetizing when it arrived but missed the mark for me. I will visit again as the vibe was great and the cafe had other gorgeous looking food there that I would love to try.

C.I love this place! I always get the Shroom Room Shrooms, but today I got the special (which I hope they put on the menu permanently!) Banana Blossom Tacos (which is the vegan version of fish tacos). Not super easy finding amazing vegan food, but this really hit the spot, good one team!

Fantastic coffee AND having been raised in the era of a milking cow when dried fruit was also a daily staple AT LAST I have finally found an outlet where dried fruit is used in the baking. The Shroom Room Ginger Loaf, packed full of dried apricots, dates and walnuts is SIMPLY THE Best. Besides the ambiance better than any herbal tonic. No matter how long the queue the atmosphere exudes a calm serenity, happy tones as the staff quietly deliver with incredible efficiency. A Jewel in the Crown and definite stop off when I walk over the Bridle Path. Thank you 🌹

I.Had really good food here with a nice atmosphere and lovely service. The banana blossom tacos were huge but were so good we got a doggy bag. Regret we're not locals so we can make this a regular destination.

S.Easily one of the best breakfasts I've had - vegan or otherwise. The Vegan Harvest was chock full of roast veggies - red peppers, asparagus, carrot, kale, mushrooms, spinach, eggplant, a perfectly crisp fried potato - and the tofu scramble with cashew hollandaise was delicious.
If I hadn't specifically ordered a vegan dish, I could've easily mistaken the tofu for eggs - not a requirement for an egg substitute, but a really nice surprise!
My husband got the Peace Plate, which was also super tasty. The portions were fantastic for the price.
I also ordered a raw Snickers bar out of the case, and I think it actually was tastier than a Snickers. I paired the Snickers bar with a long black (coffee) and the balance of the sweet and the bitter was a perfect pairing.
Looking forward to our next visit!

Unfortunately, didn’t get to grab anything from the display case but it was extremely tempting because it was so vibrant and delicious looking. Had a bit of a hiccup with double charge but Andrew was quick, kind and courteous to get it sorted. Would highly recommend and wish we could go again before heading back home to the states.
J.This cafe is hands down the best cafe ive been to in NZ. The menu is diverse and caters to all dietary needs, not to mention God Damn DELICIOUS! Staff were friendly, great seating and vibe both inside and out. If you’re in the area its a must, if you’re not in the area, get there what ever way you can. A.Wow! What a gem of a place, weren't sure to start with as no menu outside and looks a bit dingy but oh boy did they deliver and we have never been happier to be so wrong! All vegetarian, plenty of gluten free and vegan options and every single thing we had was outstanding.
The chimichinga and the perky nana milkshakes are NOT to be missed!
If you are hungry, peckish, want a snack or a coffee GO HERE. I promise you that you will never be disappointed, unless they are closed.

T.Wow! We had brunch here - beans with eggs and vegan aioli and the 'Gangsta'. Looking over the reviews there seem to have been a few experiences at the other end of the positivity spectrum, but you get that in hospo sometimes - sad, but true.
Our experience, thankfully, was at the awesome end of the happiness range. Great food, great service and just a cool wee place in general. The sausages in the 'Gangsta' are sooooooo yummy! Plenty of other yummy things on the menu that we'll definitely be back to try with friends/family!!
If you're a vego, vegan or even a meat eater who likes to try other forms of yummy food, this is definitely a foodie destination worth visiting - more than once if possible. Just a bit gutted we hadn't been here sooner!!
I.A go-to place for vegetarians. Haven't had a menu meal here yet but the cabinet food is real good! Note: They don't have extra hot sauce because the sauce bottles would keep disappearing, according to the lady who works there. Shame on you, sauce-thieves!

S.Vegan and vegetarian centric cafe. Cabinet and menu food are good, and coffee are great. Some of their offerings can be a bit hit and miss, like Red Velvet Latte (Beetroot) and a frittata with crunchy rice instead of pastry.

H.I was doing a geography internal (AS91431 Coastal Issues) to be exact and I came across this well named establishment that really drew my eye.
Anyway I would like some assist on this report as I know pretty much nothing about Lyttleton. My assignment is to take peoples opinions on the redevelopment of the port and put these opinions into my perspective and decide which is the better option. This perspective will be accounting for peoples culture, opinions, and the environment itself as I see some people have negative thoughts of this redevelopment due to the strong argument that it could damage / hurt the marine life.
