Reviews of The White Rabbit Garden Cafe
M.
Super cute cafe with unbelievable sweet treats. Very friendly staff. I had a white chocolate raspberry muffin and mocha! Both were great. Perfect stop on the way to the Giant's house.
S.
Stopped off to use the facilities and a bite to eat. Tables outside are a bit basic but there is a back section which would be nice with more tables/ umbrellas maybe a garden with a fountain and some of those gnomes everyone loves so much......
. Nice enough ambience inside. Very soliticious staff, happy to help. Not overly busy but a steady stream of people heading to and from Christchurch/ Akaroa/ Diamond Harbour.
Reasonably priced food and a pot of Earl Grey tea enough for 2.
Nice place . Last time I was here it was the Black Tulip (?).
Parking too.
k.
Friendly service, great choices on the menu and our food and coffee was lovely. Big portions if you're hungry or just in case so you don't order too much. Our daughter loved the rabbit themed children's menu and the pet goats, chicken and nugget.
Lovely outdoor seating area too. Well worth a visit for brunch/ lunch somewhere new . Highly recommend
J.
Great place to come.
yummy food, for adults and kids.... nice presentation of food and location and very friendly staff.
while waiting for our food went and talked to the goats - chicken and nugget
also patted basil the rabbit.
A colouring in mask was provided for our granddaughter with Crayons... entertained until food came.
Toilets very clean and tidy and well stocked.
Will highly recommend to others
J.
I drive past this place a lot but thought id stop in (this was a couple days ago)
So worth it the coffee was to die for it even had a cute little picture of a bear made out of milk foam. Lots of options in the fridges for food and a delicious looking menu, sadly didnt have enough money to buy food as well but coffees definitely worth the stop
G.
Loved it. A small baby rabbit in a free roaming hut in the middle of the cafe was brilliant.
The food, both cabinet and on the menu were excellent.
We had the big breakfast, eggs Benedict, porridge and granola along with teas and coffees. Everything was really good and not too badly priced.
L.
Coffee, Food and Service were all fantastic. Lovely sunny spot for breakfast, I would highly recommend and we will definitely be back
V.
What a great place to get a quiet get away. Well worth the drive for fantastic food and service, and possibly the best Barrista in town. Makes the coffees perfectly. Good friendly service, a family environment with new animals to entertain the kids. I encourage you to stop in, not just drive by.
C.
Great experience this morning, 12 of us, in dire need of coffee after biking from Lyttelton, thankfully with a tail wind! The coffee was hot, delivered promptly and the food selection fresh and quite different from other cafe fare. (I thoroughly recommend the orange-soaked date and apple mmmmmuffin.) Lovely refurbishment, quiet garden outlook, friendly young staff, easy access/parking and a great alternative to the recently experienced overcrowded option at Little River.
M.
Changed owners and names a few times over my lifetime but stood the test of time. Cute odd shaped building at a junction between the roads to Akaroa, Lytellton and Tai Tapu/ Christchurch. It was a stunning winter's day and very busy when I stopped in the way back from Birdlings Flat. Several cyclists too. Menu was vast and obliging to gluten free. I had the poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and salmon. The nicest I've ever had! Generous serving of salmon! Daughter had the cheeseburger and fries. Again very enjoyable. Will be taking the rest of the family back soon.
B.
Stopped in for lunch and so glad we did - friendly service, incredible food, and our wee girl loved the goats. Can't wait to come back
R.
Had a late lunch on Sunday. Looked like they had almost sold out, but the fish and chips were good. A great place. We stop here often on our way to and from Akaroa.
L.
Stopped here for lunch on our way through to Akaroa, the food is UNBELIEVABLE. My partner got their buttermilk chicken burger and I've never seen him so moved by food 😂 we'll be stopping back here on our way out!
P.
Nice setting - hot coffee - great food - would have been a 5 but background music selection not suitable for senior clientelle
M.
I drive pass this place every day and decided to give a go. Food was good, coffee was excellent. Good customer service too. A bit more expensive than I was expecting but was worth it. There is some outdoor sitting, dog friendly and a big white rabbit to see and pat
C.
Great place spent hours there yesterdayas car broke down. Very clean and tidy place also seeing a little rabbit in the shop. Well done guys. We will come back some time but we will not break down next time we hope.
J.
Friendly staff but the service was a little erratic. Unfortunately the food wasn't that great. It tasted home cooked but not in good way.
N.
On our way to Akaroa, stopped by this cafe to warm ourselves by getting a quick bite and hot drinks. Food was nice, see photos!
C.
I love the warm greeting when you walk though the doors and the service if fantastic love the food and the people here great place to go and have breakfast
K.
Perhaps my favorite latte and breakfast during a month-long trip around the south island!! I appreciated them giving me a vegetarian breakfast alternative :)
N.
Stopped here for a coffee on our way home. Super good coffees (inc my decaf), date scones, jam and cream excellent. Looking at the brunches coming past us they appeared equally amazing. The young staff at the place were super friendly. If you are travelling to or from Akaroa I would recommend this over a stop at Little River which is OK but not up to this standard or value.
l.
Got the takeaway family deal tonight yum yum yum. A great deal at 12.50 per person for a chef made meal. The beef just fell apart, tasty coleslaw with purple veg in it and yummy potatoes . I will be back and highly recommend. Excellent way to sort my work meals !!!
S.
It is a lovely and quaint Cafe with a log burner and armchairs to relax in. The pork pie and the cheese scone were the best we have every had. Also coffee and tea excellent. Highly recommend
B.
Charming stop between Akaroa and Christchurch. Good food and coffee!
T.
Great stop en route between Christchurch and Akaroa for lunch or coffee, although it was our destination today. Full blackboard menu plus cabinet food. Always excellent service :)
L.
We had breakfast close to the wood stove, it was the first freezing cold day in the peninsula. Laura and Tim warmed the atmosphere with delicious coffees, homemade mushrooms pie and the inevitable "Full Breakfast". If you like smiles and quality food, the Gebbies Garden Cafe is made for you !
Thanks :-)
R.
Food was good coffees arrived promptly but the two orders from the cabinet arrived 30 minutes apart
M.
The hash browns are amazing. Coffee is consistently perfect. Good honest food from a dedicated team. Always a smile from the staff, tidy and clean tables too. Thankyou for your consistency.
A.
Have been here in the past (different owners I guess) and it was average. Now it's bloody good.
T.
Lovely food and great service, one of my favorite places to eat. 🥞☕
A.
Very cute and yummy cafe. Love the atmosphere and staff.
R.
Beautiful food and excellent drinks. A really quaint cafe with some really novel ideas for the future. A must stop on the way to Little River.
J.
So lucky to have this delightful cafe on my doorstep. I've been coming here for several years under different ownerships and the current owners have got it spot on. It's lovely and clean, is warm and welcoming and we were lucky enough to get the sofa and chairs in front of the roaring log burner. We all loved our meals, my soup was the most delicious I've ever had! The coffees were excellent too. See you again soon!
S.
THE best pork belly pie I’ve ever had! …. And I’ve had a few 😅 🥧 🐖
P.
Coffee is great as is the food. Good friendly service.
S.
Great place for coffee and eats. Food great just a little different which I liked. Liked how they took our names to bring our orders. The staff coped really well with unexpected group of about 18. Altogether a pleasant friendly experience.
N.
Cool little cafe. The huge pork rolls were delicious!
I.
Reasonably presentable provided that you don't attend in large numbers to forget your order
D.
Great coffee. One of the best I had tbh. And great food. The bacon and eggs are so yummy
c.
Oh my gosh! Just fantastic. Such a gem of a place to find. We were here on a wet and windy day and managed to get a spot right in front of the fire. Not only does it have a wonderfully cosy atmosphere, it also has great food and coffee. We had a variety of pies and a cheeseburger. We all had bites of each other's food as we all proclaimed our choices to be the most amazing. I had the steak and cheese pie. The steak was in lovely small chunks that were so tender and tasty, with a lovely amount of tasty cheese all encased in lovely, flaky pastry. The other massive hit was the cheeseburger; it was full of lovely flavours from the gherkin to the sauce/dressing used. We'd been here before it changed hands and we're keen to see how the new place measured up. Needless to say we will definitely be returning sooner rather than later.
K.
This cafe is a gem! The staff were so lovely & even brought our dog a water bowl when we sat outside. Coffee was great and the "Reuben" grilled sandwich with corned beef, swiss cheese & sauerkraut was absolutely delicious. Will definitely come here again.
V.
Nice food. Can get a little busy. But worth the stop. Nice and clean.
M.
Wanted to get out of the house on Sunday and decided to have brunch at a place we hadn't been to yet and was somewhere out of Christchurch but not to far. We Googled "best brunch cafes" and decided on Gebbies out of the options which came up. I had the Smashed avocado on sourdough bread with pouched egg and dukkah, my wife had the Mexican Beans dish. The food was very good, but to be honest a bit pricey at $19 for mine (1 slice of bread) and $22 for my wife's.However I must admit that it was worth the drive as the whole experience made for quite a pleasant outing. Will definitely do it again.
A.
Enjoyed an awesome pork belly and chorizo pie on the way to Akaroa on Saturday. It was so good, we had another one on the way back! Highly recommended.
S.
New Owners: Stopped in for brunch. Bright and warm inside, couches by a cosy log fire very welcoming. Menu was great, fresh healthy salads & homemade pies in cabinets. Blackboard menu also available. Enjoyed our meals very much. Will definitely stop by again.
N.
We had a relaxed lunch this afternoon after following the rail trail from Tai Tapu. Food was great, service friendly and good value for money. Plus they had good hygiene practices in place during Alert Level 2. Thanks team. We'll be back.
M.
Brilliant cafe. Service was excellent. Will definitely go back, especially for the coffee walnut slice.
S.

O.
Very good steak pie and pinwheels, iced coffee could have done with some icecream . service was very good and welcoming. Was a windy day but still sheltered seating outside available.
M.
Beaut coffee and the best sausage roll I've had in years. Highly recommend popping in for a visit.
