If your heading through Springfield, this cafe is a must for a food stop, the staff are very friendly, wood fire pizza is some of the best I've had at a reasonable price and the Gelato is amazing and also at a fair price. Couldn't recommend this place more!!

Nice cafe with big donut next to this cafe. Meat pie was great and coffee was alright too. But they were very busy when I was in there and I waited toooo long time to order and be served my coffee. Understandable but I recommend to hire more staffs.

Nice cafe for a brunch spot. Had their brown rice salad and another chickpeas salad which I really love for both of them. Also ordered a club sandwich and tomato bacon with hollandaise bread. And all were good for us. Staffs were friendly and plenty of parking spaces along the road.

Affordable tasty bites and friendly service on the way to Castle Hill. There was a few cafes in town but a local told us to check this one out for some lunch. We got a pie which was nice, but the stand outs were the chicken filo pastry and curry soup which were both great. These three meals only came to $31 dollars and were plenty for two people. Staff were friendly and helped with directions.

A quaint little cafe with a cozy field. The huge Simpsons Donought stood out ! A great kid friendly area and with some GF snacks options. Coffer was good too. Dinner times they do oven baked pizza which I'm sure will taste great! The kids playground outside was a great place for toddlers and older kids.

A great family friendly stopover cafe on your way to Arthur’s Pass or the West Coast. The Yellowshack Cafe offers great coffee, takeaway food (pies are awesome!) and even woodfired pizza. There’s a nice little park next door where kids can play and there’s plenty of outdoor seats. Despite the limited cafes/amenities nearby, this place is a great spot! Please note, the toilets gets busy during peak hours!! Line up quick!

Great place. Friendly service. Great food and coffee. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Added bonus of having the Springfield donut caravan out front.

Great service from fresh faced locals.. My 9 year old daughter and I had a very cosy lunch here last Sunday.. Chicken filo for Cimmaron and a big piece of bacon and egg pie with chips between us..

Good prices and service. The veggie Cornish pasty was okay. I have certainly had better spanakopita and the salad was fairly bland. The hot chocolate was good.

We had the pepper steak and it was sooooo delicious. Would definitely stop there again.

Ordered their burger and it was delicious and good service.

Arrived after a wet , cold bike ride down from Arthur's Pass . Made very welcome by the Staff . A roaring fire was going which was so , so appreciated . Excellent Coffee , & Hot Food . A good selection of Meals to choose from . Worth a visit .

We stopped at the YellowShack Cafe and we found not only the food was yummy but the staff were very welcoming and made us feel at home. The Diner was clean and presentable, somewhere to eat and toilets on site. Good place to stop, eat and rest. Thanks ladies for the great service

A must visit for any Simpson fans out there. Had to do a double take at the town sign and thought it coincidence until I came across the giant doughnut. Homer would be proud!

We just stopped in here for two pies to go, and I can honestly say that in my over 10 years in NZ I have never had a better pie. The pastry in particular was EXCEPTIONAL. We had one pork and apple and one steak and mushroom. Couldn’t pick a favourite between those. Too good.

Excellent Earl Grey tea, caramel slice was very nice but slightly bland; caramel flavour could have been a bit stronger. Regardless, I would be happy to have it again.

Pretty ordinary food and not particularly great service. There are other options in Springfield now that I'll try next time. They have a donut caravan in the garden and the chap there was very friendly offering free tasting (which we declined).

Good on you guys :) Good food, outstanding coffee, great staff and awesome T-Shirts. Onya for being a real business and not tagging a 'Stat day Surcharge' to place you in the Greedy category, looking forward to our next visit, won't drive past The Yellow Shack, get in there folks it's awesome :)

Can't remember the last time I had a pie this good! Going to tell all my climber friends to grab one from here after spending the day at Castle Hill. Also got given an oat caramel slice with my coffee which was insane. Just gives me another reason to stop by when I'm back in the area again.

We stopped here after visiting Castle Hill. There is a lovely playground for kids right next door so it was perfect. We could sit outside and eat our pizza while the kids played and stopped over for bites here and there. The food was exceptional but a bit pricey. $24 for the smokey sweet pizza we got. It wasn't all that big but it did feed 4 of us. We also shared some salads that we're delicious and healthy. Service was fast and friendly. Recommend!

Good coffee, had a soy iced late and it was good. There is also a little donut shop direct in front of the cafe, you should definitely try some.

I have been there a few times now, I would have to say I've never had a bad coffee. The food is also nice and priced well. A great spot with awesome views.

2 weeks ago, I bought cheese scone and hot chocolate with my 16 month old son. The staff were absolutely friendly even one of them asked if hot choc is for me or my son so they can adjust the temperature, how thoughtful of them. Scone and hot choc were delicious!

the garlic pizza is a gift from heaven.

Nice and cozy place along the road. Staff was very nice. The food is very good, however there is not much to choose from, some pies, croissant's, salads, and muffins. All is home made and more than enough to keep you from starving along the road.

It was ok. Its pretty unattractive and unwelcoming. It's the only place for breakfast for miles but I'd try elsewhere first next time. The big breakfast was mostly flavourless cheap ingredients apart from the bacon. The portions were large but expensive. Not really sure we were welcome.

Good coffee and decent food. A good pit stop on the way from the west coast if you can't wait to grab a bite before getting to Christchurch. We've had veggie pies which were decent; our friends took the same with the 'side salad', which turned out to be so big that it could be a meal of its own. The Homer Donut was better than expected (I'm not a big fan of donuts).

This is a little gem, we had a wonderful salad for lunch here.

My steak and cheese pie was amazing... Unfortunately my large flat white coffee was lukewarm and really needed an extra shot of coffee 😥😥 Please don't get me wrong.... I have had coffee from here dozens of times... this is my first disappointment

We had one of our best meals in two weeks here for lunch...great food and service.
