My friend and I got the pasta salad in the small serving size and it was sufficient as a meal for me at least! Tasted great too. Service was great and quick , tables are arranged such that it doesn’t feel crowded even if it’s full. Toilet was clean. Just a couple of birds that kept flying in and getting trapped so they will be zooming around near the tables just by the door leading to the alfresco seating area.

Had a really late lunch here and it was very nice. The cheese roll was shared by us two Aucklanders, now I know why South Islanders rave over it. Had poached eggs and corn fritters with slaw and added bacon. It was delicious and so ample I could only eat half.

We walked in and were spoken to in a hostile way to see our vaccination pass. There was no greeting: hello or welcome. They also didn’t start their cooked meals till 9:30am, which we needed earlier because the cycle around lake Dunstan starts at 9am. However the decor was nice, the almond croissant lacked almonds yet was a pleasant change in texture from most Auckland croissants. The Tan slice was pleasant but they didn’t have yoghurt only cream yet the temperature was quite warm.

Varied menu, wonderful cabinet and friendly/attentive staff. I have a few dietary requirements and the menu has an easy guide on the back of what to remove to cater to DF/GF. I opted for the chicken tacos which were fresh, and the tacos were crispy - not like the cardboard ones you can often find you’re stuck with in situations like this. Will be recommending to my friends and will visit again. Fab!

I think this is the only café in Clyde - good (slash maybe the only) option to get your caffeine fix. Although I didn't have caffeine on this day because it was stinking hot - I had a mango smoothie instead with a grilled panini I think it was. They have outdoor seating (some with shade and some not) in the back garden or in front of the café and also a slightly fancier area for dining in the evening. They also sell jams, pickles, relishes, etc.

Amazing town, we could live here. Cafe was gorgeous. Walk in and it looks like an old merchant store, then walk through to the back through to a courtyard to an amazing space of garden, with trees and just a lovely enviroment, with a feel-good factor. Food and coffee, quick and delicious! Go there!

Lovely place, only went for breakfast but has a great outside seating area and a very nice looking bar, cafe/restaruant inside too, I was quite impressed with the lay out. Spanish omelet was very nice and coffee great. Served well, Thanks for the service. I enjoyed the visit

The fries here are some of the best I have ever had. No idea why... But they are consistently delicious. Also sitting in the beautiful garden with a Central Otago wine helps.

On a sunny day a wonderful little spot with outdoor or indorr seating. Food and coffee here are great and a nice place to break the journey when heading too or from Central. Look for the nice art gallery and few shops in Clyde so close by.

Brilliant place highly recommend the breakfast muffin! Great coffee and great seating under all their fruit trees out the back. Dogs are welcome too best brunch in town!

After some time on the Otago Rail Trail we stopped in to Clyde and the Merchant of Clyde for a light lunch. This is a very charming cafe with a small store of small goods onsite too. The smallgoods look enticing and we grabbed a local jam while ordering coffee and some savoury cabinet food for lunch. The service was friendly and quick. The food was delicious and the coffee excellent. Sitting outside at the front was nice as we watched the world go by at a leisurely pace. There was a bowl for dog water too that was great for our pups. The area out back looked very good too, quite a lot of space there.

Clyde is a small town where you go off main road to find it, well worth the detour as it is a lovely little town, quite a few small local businesses, like this one hitch offers great coffee, cafe type meals and a great selection of Pastries, Savouries etc, Lovely outdoor seating area as well as indoor tables, worth a visit to here and a wander around the little town
