Reviews of Alto Cafe
J.Service was fast and warm. The cafe was a small cafe front area with a spill-over room for extra seating. We sat ourselves right beside the entry and were immediately greeted by the warm and friendly staff. The menu was varied and had a reasonable amount of options. The cabinet had a regular amount of typical fresh cafe food, all of which looking fresh and yummy. The drinks were very fast to arrive. Mine was standard with nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about. Our well priced meal and drinks cost only $35 and a slow waddle back to the car. I will definitely be going back and would thoroughly recommend to all.
R.Can’t fault this place. Have bought coffee here twice and both times they have been good. Staff are friendly and quick. Would recommend if passing by and looking for a good café
K.Had the vege stack with bacon added. gluten free with looked like homemade hash browns yum really nice mushrooms lots of avocado and grilled tomato. Real food nicely cooked.

R.The sun was beaming in at Alto this morning. The place was beautifully presented and a soft smell of coffee in the air. I was pleased to find a fantastic breakfast menu, really helpful staff and enough space not to be involved in another tables conversations. The kids menu is pretty standard but to be fair it was a winner and the $5 kids meal on a Sunday was a smart way of getting me in the door (as a mum). I had the most forfilling creamy mushrooms on flavourful ciabatta with streaky bacon to tie for! My coffee was as superb as the service. The cabinet food was a great range of sweet and savoury and any place who sells a stuffed spud has my tick. Well done Alto. Pat your staff on the back.

L.Easily the best coffee in Dunedin. The staff are super friendly. The atmosphere is lovely with its big north facing windows. I had a soup which was delicious and the portions were large.
f.Hmm 😒 sadly the staff let this once humming FRIENDLY café down ! They were remiss in listening to our order even though repeated three times ⏲ back and forth between us and the staff member. Charged full price for a drink that we used to get from them as a fluffy cost ~ I am lactose and soy free therefore supply the lactose free milk and 100 %Cocoa powder just for them to steam 😀 however Charged $4. Everyone else in our party was buying a drink and eating, therefore money being made, so one would think a tad bit of flexibility and kindness would be shown..must have changed hands in the last few years as previously mentioned I was charged for the cost of a fluffy.

A.We went in for Sunday lunch. Excellent food. It was very busy and we worried it would take a while to get serviced...They brought at he 3 dishes at once only 15-20min after placing the order. Lovely fresh food and high quality service. "Loaded fries" are a must try. Recommended for locals and those that want to try best cafés in town.

K.Been a while since I’ve been to this cafe. The coffee is excellent as remembered. The scone was a bit doughy unfortunately and lacked something but can’t quite put my finger on it as was the Florentine slice. The seating is very comfy and staff friendly and helpful. Someone in our group had the chicken burger which they said was excellent!

A.Great family owned and operated cafe in the heart of a local Dunedin suburb. The menu and cabinetry food is always supberb. The coffee on the whole is usually pretty good, however I am very particualr about my coffee and so at times I have been a little disappionted.

P.Menu promised a lot. However the bread in the buttie seemed to be a plain hamburger bun. Also the staff seemed to be at 6's and 7's. On a positive was the Emmersons pilsner was top notch
