F.I can only say wonderful things about Modaks as on both of our visits the service and food we're fantastic.
The decor is wonderful with a selection of formica tables and chairs that look like they have just come from the 70's. Images on the walls by local artists.
Breakfast was amazing. My monster eggs kept me going all day. My sons salmon looked fantastic.
The service is fantastic. Will happily visit again.

J.This place is the best coffee and super yummy nibbles, and has amazing atmosphere. I love how many different types of people come, mix, and work here.
It also has impressive artistic atmosphere, and it makes me remember New York with the mix of smart, art, beauty, and amazing coffee. Now I am local and my wife knows if she wants to get me out of a foul mood ....take me to Modaks.
Also....they have HEAPS of gluten free choices and separate fryers for the celiac and gluten intolerant. Which is awesome.

A.Very nice waffles with berry compote and grilled banana. For two waffles they are very filling the size is pretty decent and really thick so they really fill you up.

A.Wow! That's all I can say about Modaks, coming up on one year of new ownership and the food here is delicious.
Mainly meat free dishes but for the carnivores out there, you won't even miss it. I'd reccomend their vegetarian lasagne or veg out vegan as my top choice dishes.
Great area to sit and admire the artwork, friendly staff and even a small arcade room at the back.

M.Great friendly service. Loved the atmosphere and brought one of the many artworks that up for sale(Modaks doesn't take a cut from the sale of the art so you need cash. The food was great, hot and tasty. Also very honest as I accidentally left my money card there and they kept it safe for me.
R.I had been hanging out for a great coffee but instead got a luke warm coffee which tasted burnt and a lot of Sass from the staff when just trying to spark up a nice conversation. Uncomfortable.
C.The best chai latte and waffles I've had. I love the cabinet options too. The decor and ambience in Modaks is beautiful. The staff are welcoming and friendly.

E.This place is full of friendly charm, is quaint and uniquely designed and furnished. A must visit if you are in Dunedin. We went here on our honeymoon for breakfast and were pleasantly delighted by the owner's welcome and willingness to have a chat. The food and coffee was extremely good, simple and yum. And came out very quickly. Will be back when we get the chance! Thank you Modaks ❤

E.Quirky little cafe. Stumbled on it while wandering around from the octagon. They make really rich hot chocolate and frost their cakes really thickly. Perfect for those with a sweet tooth. We also ordered wedges and were really happy with portion size. Plenty of seating.

L.Open early and waiter is extremely welcoming and is in touch with the locals who regularly visit. The food arrived quickly and was good value for money.
However, I did notice almost all the food and hot drinks got cold rather quickly. By the time I had almost finished my poached eggs, the bread was cold and the eggs were only lukewarm. That is what needs to be improved but the atmosphere and trendy decorations made it quite nice.

T.Modaks is my favourite cafe in Dunedin! Fantastic service and super friendly staff, my friends and I usually study here at least once a week and they have no problem with us staying for hours (great wifi too) and always make our visit pleasant. The cabinet food is great, always a good selection and their cooked food is a dream. Awesome selection of vegetarian, vegan and GF foods and great decor to boot.

B.Iced chai and iced mocha were very tasty. Both bagels we got were a little too generously filled resting in then being hard to eat. Aside from that the ambience is very nice and cozy

R.Lovely little cafe with allpress coffee and an interesting range of teas. We didn’t eat here. There was free wifi. It was busy but not loud so was a nice place to park up and reenergise.
a.This place has recently got a New chef and new kitchen staff, the food is now more amazing than ever. The muffins, scrolls ect are baked fresh every morning and the coffee is super. If you haven't been I strongly recommend giving it a go 😊

T.Recently discovered this cafe on George St. So much character and clearly a favourite of others from the number of people who were recognised by the staff. Sitting at a table by yourself, having a quiet read or tapping away at your laptop, not a problem. I loved it.

Ein kleines Café-Restaurant in der Hauptstraße von Dunedin mit sehr freundliche Bedienung. Die Speisen sind gut zubereitet und schmecken gut. Ich hatte Penne und die war lecker gemacht. Die Preise sind ebenfalls fair. Ich kann es mit gutem Gewissen empfehlen.
