The rooms were lovely. The bed was very comfortable. The spa pool after a decent cycle was wonderful. The dinner was delicious and the continental breakfast was top notch 👌! Colleen and her staff were so lovely. I'd definitely stay there again.

Comfortable room and bed, although does lack character. The dinner was overpriced considering the quantities served. Good plentiful continental breakfast.

My recent visit to Pitches Store was the day that the building next-door burned to the ground. Pitches fed us (Firefighters) and made us coffee, their generosity was very much appreciated by all of the fire brigades that were there that day.

We stopped into Pitches Store today for a coffee and a cake and loved it. The staff were awesome. Very friendly and welcoming. Coffee was great and the magic slice was gorgeous. Lovely setting too in a beautiful historical building. Well worth a stop over. Would love to try something off the menu sometime too. Looked wonderful.

Stopped here on a recommendation for lunch on our way too Danseys Pass Hotel. Just a little detour over an amazingly engineered historic bridge (you must stop for photos and a careful look at the engineering) from the main road. The Store restaurant and township is a very well kept historical buildings place to visit. The lunch we had was first class as well, my all day breakfast for lunch was the best I've had in a long while.

6 of us have just enjoyed the most scrumptious meals....beautifully presented, so tasteful, just can't speak highly enough of this restaurant. Combined with the pleasurable chat with the luvly lady who served us & exemplary ambience of the store, we were all so impressed. Everything is just amazing and not out-priced. Thank you.

For anybody that is travelling through the area, it is well worth planning ahead to make sure that this fantastic restaurant is open when you are passing.
If not, then change your plans to suit their opening times.
You will not be disappointed the food is outstanding the environment perfect and the service friendly. A true gem for the area

Very nice food but is pricey

My partner and I wanted to end our 3 month road trip around the South Island with a touch of luxury so we could unwind and relax while enjoying some good hospitality and service - thankfully Pitches Store delivered exactly that!
During our stay the staff were incredibly kind and really went the extra mile to make us feel warm, welcome and at home the entire time which added to the ambience of the already comforting atmosphere. We both enjoyed learning about the history of Pitches Store as well as Ophir from all of the historic information/ photographs displayed around the building, it made staying in the beautifully renovated historic building a very unique and special experience.
The bedding was super comfortable, rooms were clinically clean and food was to die for (breakfast spread was like nothing we had experienced before)! We stayed for 2 nights which also allowed us to spend some time exploring the rest of the towns historic sites, which ended up being a real highlight of ours.
I will be happily recommending Pitches Store to anyone planning to travel through Central Otago in future, as enjoying their selection of local wine from the outdoor courtyard and catching sunset from the spa is a must on any travel itinerary!

We had a fantastic dinner at Pitches Store. The goat cheese (a local one), beet and walnut salad was great. I loved my main course of salmon on a potato rosti with some delicious lemon gel which really added so much flavour. And then a divine affogato with a gluten free biscotti. It's also a small but perfectly formed wine list with some really great options...esp by-the-glass. What's not to love in this cute historic building which is run by passionate owners.

Bueat place. Great coffee and food with good service

We came here with some good friends whom knew the area and recommended Pitches as somewhere different to go to for lunch. Understandably the options for lunch were sparse and we were about to go elsewhere but were pleasantly surprised when we were told that we could order off the mains menu. We all opted for the salmon fillet which was really nice. Unfortunately cant comment on other items of the menu as no one ordered anything different. Food was good, service when we went directly to the counter was good. It was hard getting someone to the table but it appeared that there were minimal staff on. Having said that not sure we saw any sign saying the you had to order at the counter.

Excellent food. Recommended by friends. Best eating in our 5 day stay around queenstown area and surrounds

I never give reviews of restaurants. But this is so out of the box that I feel compelled. Simply the best dinner I have had. Really really good. Every part of the experience has been outstanding. I don't know who owns this business but they should be so proud of the result their crew have produced here for our party of ten. Front of house through to the brigade out back. Do yourself a favour. (the building is worth another 5 stars)

We had a wonderful dinner; great service and dinner was cooked to perfection. Discovered a new interesting wine. A great evening.

Great coffee. Dinner great but prawns a little salty. Staff are fantastic and decor is very authentic to the period of the building.

Lovely light lunch served in outdoor seating area. Took some time to be served, it was a Sunday so maybe staff levels were minimal. Ophir was at it's most vibrant.

Lovely place with very comfortable and modern accomodation and nice food in the restaurant. The most memorable for us though was the incredible breakfast spread they put on for us in the morning! Would definitely recommend staying here :)

Had lunch here with my mum and grandfather. The food was exceptional! However the service was very average (could be described as snappy). We had to continually ask for our drinks and we had finished our meals prior to them coming out.
M. L.
Great food and friendly staff. We enjoyed everything ordered. Can't believe to find such a fine dining restaurants in a place of 50 people town. Yummy!

We visited Pitches Store restaurant during our two day otago rail bike tour recently. As we had no car David picked us up personally from our accommodation in Omakau and gave us a charming guided tour of the heritage buildings of Ophir before we arrived at the restaurant. Colleen welcomed us so warmly and we enjoyed a superb meal in this lovely tastefully restored restaurant in a hidden part of Central Otago. Lovely hosts, excellent food in a beautiful old mining town. Highly recommend.

Beautifully renovation. New, clean with loads of character. Rooms a bit small but the food is excellent.

We didn't eat here but came for a wine after our dinner elsewhere. Lovely wine recommendations and when the owner came over for a chat she made us feel very welcome.

We called in for a coffee and a quick snack. The scone that we ordered was one of the best, if not the best, that I have ever tasted, fresh, light, and warm. Cooked perfectly.
W. T.
Beautiful building. Good food but some items on kid’s menu are overpriced, avoid fish and chips. Fish fingers with a small serving of fries was disappointing.
