The setting was wonderful we went to a cafeteria further up Gladstone Road to find it was a eat in bakery we were looking to have breakfast. we asked the lovely staff member where we could find a place to have a cooked breakfast she told us to go to Verve that we will be well served and the food was lovely we walked in it was quite busy a lovely place with seating from the entry to the back of the building the staff were friendly the menu was a variety of food available everything...I of course had bacon/salmon eggs benedict my friend had Spanish Breakfast which was choritzo with spicy topping bacon and eggs it was lovely plus a bowl of mushrooms on the side they were next level yumm....A pot of tea for 2 which was and I decided to have a American chocolate brownie to top off my yummy breakfast Thank you Verve lovely atmosphere staff and best of all FOOD I recommend Verve for a very enjoyable breakfast very busy but very much a verve...(vibe)

Was absolutely stunned by the service here it was awesome. Went for a quick breakfast on 2nd Jan thinking it would take a while. Got our coffees minutes after being seated and breakfast just as I was finishing coffee! Breakfast was yum staff were happy will go back when in gisborne next 😋

Absolutely so over the moon with verve today. The coffee was absolutely bang on perfect. The food was exactly what I wanted, hot, fresh and exceptionally yum. The staff are awesome and offer on point service. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants their first food outing to be perfect.

Coffee to die for! Haven't had one this good in ages and were from papamoa. Portions of meals perfect, eggs bene with perfect eggs, omelette and mushroom on toast were great. Highly recommend, and the kiwi guy behind the counter making our coffees had the best vibes and quick with a laugh to start our road trip home. 😀 thanks verve, first time to gizzy and you lifted the game.

What a busy little place and after tasting our meals I can see why it is popular... Very Very good eggs bene and the Spanish fry up was huge even without the eggs.

The eggs in my Bacon Eggs Benedict were over cooked, but otherwise tasty. Hot drinks arrived way after the food. Were sitting near the back and when leaving realised they had a large influx of customers which might have contributed to the delay in our drinks.

Went here for breakfast today , it was ok... nothing really especial... the cheese on the tomato tasted a bit funny... like anchovies of something like that...

Overall it was good. Service was friendly. Few issues, coffee didn't arrive until after we finished our meals which was highly unusual, especially considering it wasn't very busy so was thinking they prioritising take aways. Food was tasty enough, but the poached eggs with the bene where slightly over done and not runny. All this sounds like more negative than positive, but in actual fact it was all OK and I would happily go back.

Gotta make this your go-to cafe in gizzy if you haven't already!! Rhonda and co are great, welcoming and efficient. Yep its popular so sometimes there will be a wait, that's life! No request is to big or small. The vibe is awesum, the music eclectic and groovy!

Excellent food and drink! We had scotch fillet on chips & bacon and eggs on toast with coffees. Wait was fine, coffee was great, food was devine. Helpful staff and nice vibe, should be proud.

No longer serves alcohol and has changed it's feel since moving, Has lost it's individuality. Food and everything is still fine, just nothing sets it apart from the other 10 cafes in walking distance anymore. Edit: Owner has since replied that the current circumstances are temporary and it will be back to it's old self sometime soon. Changing review from 1 to 4 star.

Awesome. Ordered the open steak sandwich. Steak cooked to perfection. Salad was crisp, crunchy and colourful. Went down a treat with a smooth coffee. Left fully charged up for the drive back to Auckland. Highly recommended.

Awesome establishment! Stayed in Gizzy for 2 days and wish we'd found this place on the 1st day as the food was super delish! Kids had hotcakes, hubby had eggs bene and i had the breakfast fritters. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend

Best coffee I had in Gisborne. We also had cake which was delicious. We tried a few other places in the area but came back to Verve a few times, it was easy to see why Verve had so many awards by the front counter.

The breakfast omelette that I ordered was nice and I enjoyed the outdoor entertainment (Muru Kirikiri) who busks outside the Verve. The only disappointment that I had with Verve was that they forgot our Flat Whites that my friend and I ordered we had already finished our meal and my friend had to go and remind them that we had already paid for our coffees and were still waiting for them but other than that it was ok.

Whilst the coffee is the best in Gisborne, the price difference between a latte and a flat white is crazy. Both drinks are the same, albeit for one being in a glass and the other in a cup. The staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, Gisborne is limited in scope to what they provide which doesn’t allow great comparison to other cafes in the area. The star rating is reduced by two - one for the difference in price between the same drink and two, the lack of air conditioning

On Sunday, there is no much to do in Gisborne. You go to church, you go to swim, that's pretty much it. In day time Verve is your option and I am grateful for them. Muffins are superb, coffees are nice. On the expensive side this is the rice of being open on Sundays. At the entrance there is a board where you can see what is going on in the city. All around you can see the art pieces, some you can even buy. Only thing I don't like is the special sandwich -which is an open sandwich that I've never been able to eat without making a mess.
