P.Once again this is a great place to stop, almost half way from north of Auckland to Wellington.
Food is always good, the coffee is consistent and hot, nothing worse than a cold or warm long black, so full marks.
The outside area is great especially with the dreaded covid still hanging around.
They provide plenty of seating for their guests, and the toilets are always clean.
Can't give them more than 5 stars. Although they ask to see your covid pass, but they don't scan it though, maybe they need to train the front desk staff on this aspect!!!
But then I might be getting a bit picky

Stopped here again on my way back to North Auckland and the service was excellent, had to wait for a table as it was full to capacity.
The food and service is still excellent, as before, now rate it 5 star.

V.It is the loveliest cafe I have been to in awhile. The service was excellent the cafe itself was very clean. We had coffee to takeaway and wedges which were superb. When passing thru again will definitely stop!

A.Stopped for toilet and meal 23/12 and again 28/12. Meals reasonable quantity, value and quality. Coffee superb. Service very good, even when busy. This is now our goto stopover when travelling.

S.Dropped in here because the bypass route doesn't take you into Taupo and I was holding off buying a coffee until I found somewhere that I thought would be halfway decent having wasted $5.00 on a coffee at Okere Falls Store earlier in the day.
The cafe wasn't that busy as it was late afternoon and my coffee was made by the trainee under the watchful eye of the senior barista. They took their time to make me a proper coffee, relief!
I liked the dedication the staff showed when I was there, they were busy keeping the place clean and were attentive.
I think the decor and especially the outdoor area could be improved as it is a bit gloomy with the dark umbrellas and fenced in area. It would look better if it had light umbrellas or pots of flowers on the tables to brighten up the space, the inside of the cafe was light and airy.
S.Always a must stop when on a kiwi road trip, Very clean and the staff are really nice. Food is great. Staff were friendly even though place was packed with people.
K.Nice café with a good breakfast menu. Our party had Mince on Toast, Eggs Benedict and Bacon and Berry Pancakes, all which were enjoyed. I especially enjoyed the freshness of berries over the typical banana with the pancakes and bacon.
Facilities were clean and tables generously sized. Will definitely stop in again next time around Lake Taupo.

J.I would have given 5 stars but for the size of the coffee. The large is not very big and my flat white had a quarter cup of froth which made it even smaller. It was the same a month ago when I visited. Apart from that the taste was good, the scone was good and indulged in a cheesecake which was also very nice

J.Situated in a town I would classify as a “town you drive through” is this absolutely lovely cafe. The service, friendly, warm and inviting, right from the get go. The coffee, to die for, would reccomend this as a great spot to grab a coffee and a bite to eat. Ordered eggs Benedict, delicious. Prices on the food in the cabinet, questionable, however I’m sure it is just as delicious as the stuff of the hot menu. Would definitely stop in here again.
J.This is one of those 'boomerang' cafe/restaurants that when once visited you will just have to make absolutely sure you return to again and again. I enjoyed a totally delicious steak sandwich that I will most certainly order again. Thank you for wonderful friendly service as well. I'll be back. :-)
L.We enjoyed ice creams in cones at the Licorice Cafe. Nice to have proper ice cream in cones and not just pre packaged ice blocks and ice creams. Lovely outdoor seating area.

R.Great food selections, drinks and even some last minute groceries right beside the main road. Great if you don't want to leave the road and by passing Turangi, only minutes before Turangi heading south or after Turangi when going north. Neat boat ramp or lakefront areas to eat takeaways or plenty of room to eat in. Clean, tidy and nice friendly staff.
A great plus was a good selection of licorice can also be purchased for the on going journey or presents. Great little find.

S.This was our second choice of the morning as our first choice was very full. So glad we came here. Plenty of seating inside and out and a good range of options for breakfast. Well worth visiting if you are staying in Turangi or nearby. We will be back.

D.Licorice cafe has been a favourite stop of ours for many years. Currently covid has cut back the kitchen. Only take away coffees and limited food. Toilets currently closed. Hope once covid is over they bounce back.
N.The barrista is fabulous very friendly and made us feel welcome. Such an asset to this cafe. Supreme Coffee used here - I felt the Boxer expresso blend didn't taste good when used in the Moccamaster filter coffee we had at this cafe.

T.This place is a little more than a café, its a convenience store too. On state hwy 1 at Motuoapa, Lake Taupo, but unfortunately no view of the lake from the tables. Food is OK, service is friendly.😁 A nice little place to stop for good snack and to stretch the legs.😂
