Stumbled across this place on my way out of town, I’m so glad I did! Breakfast was delicious and cooked well, friendly staff and service, food came out quickly, and the menu had plenty to choose from. Good coffee, good smoothie, good food, handy location if you’re passing through! Definitely coming back next time I’m over.

1st Review: This place is amazing, I have been their for breakfast and dinner. The staff their are like family, the whole place has a really good vibe. The pancakes I had from their were absolutely amazing, everything went well together. It has good food and you should really try it out, it also has good selection of food if your gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian or vegan. Their selection is amazing. You should see the pancakes I got myself for breakfast one morning, Check it out with the attached image. You should go check out this amazing place.

Mostly good experience at Maina. Went there for lunch, and the food was quite good. The service was generally good and friendly by most of the staff, although one of the older staff members snapped at me for trying to slightly move a large heavy table so that a couple of senior patrons from another group could squeeze into their seats which were pressed against the wall. She wasn't any more pleasant when ordering my food at the counter. I do appreciate they may have been very busy that day, but no need for the tone.

As always, this quaint little cafe never fails to please. Great service, excellent food and scrummy coffee. Even when they are under the pump as they were today, the staff are incredibly efficient and professional. Highly recommend to anyone who loves great coffee and excellent food.

Lunch on a warm HBay day, Havelock. Service excellent. Well spaced and timely efficient arrival of food from order. Indoor or outdoor setting. Supportive, helpful and enthusiastic personnel. Could of been a whole lot better. Called into Maina for breakfast was not greeted at the door felt as though the staff member couldn't be bothered this particular morning. Coffee was great but no meal check. A Young girl came on the floor near the end of my visit and out shined the other two on definitely had better customer service skills.

Really yummy roast beef panini. Nice and hot and crispy not soggy. Lots of melted cheese. Fast friendly service. Large venue with a choice of indoor outdoor seating for different sized groups. A little bit hard to hear indoors when they are very busy as the rooms acoustics are not the best. Reasonably priced.

The food here was absolutely fantastic, and it literally lit up our day! All the food we ordered had huge portions with reasonable price. The seafood chowder was very fresh, and the salmon pizza was really creamy and satisfying. Coffee was good as well. Lots of surprises, actually quite busy during the weekend. Highly recommend!

The café was so peaceful even when it was reasonably full. I visited the café during my lunch time and was not sure what to order as I am a vegetarian. The staff was very helpful and immediately got me in touch with the chef who prepared an awesome and filling wrap for me. Location is amazing as it is in the main market place.

Great menu with a range of prices depending on your budget, lots of amazing main options, so difficult to choose! We ordered the pork belly, butter-poached lamb, and the tandori chicken salad with a side of fries. All really delicious, good serving sizes, especially the fries, we were definitely full! Excellent and friendly service/staff, and good speed getting our meals. We would visit again when in the area next 😊

Wow! Atmosphere is cosy and the staff are just precious! However this has to be the best restaurant when it comes to the meals every one of them are full of flavour and enough to fill you up dining here is a must!!!

Good wine and great food, nice spot with really good service. I had the pork belly and it was melt in your mouth. The cracking was cooked perfectly too, I couldn't really ask for much more. I found dinner was a little nicer than Lunch as I have eaten here for lunch previously.

Really nice place in the heart of Havelock North. I visited Maina when staying in town over New Years. First time for a coffee and croissant for a quick breakfast and second time for brunch with friends. The inside decor and atmosphere is very classy, though can get a little loud during a full house. If you are dining in, when you enter you will need to grab a menu and locate a table. Once you know what you would like to eat you then make your way up to the counter to order and pay for your food. A full service bistro would be nice but I think the casual style really suits the area. The food really surpassed my expectations, being made and presented to a very high standard. The coffee was very nice as well. Maina serves a variety of people from families, younger people, older people and anyone in between. I think Maina really reflects the laid back, friendly community spirit of Havelock North. Will absolutely be back again, and next time I would like to try dinner.

We went for breakfast two days in a row it was so good the first time. if you like mushrooms, then the Te Mata Mushrooms with Holly Bacon and Hash browns (Bubble & Squeak) is absolutely delicious, The Eggs bene (Royale) with spinach and Salmon is divine too. I went to Maina on Thursday night to get a quick bite to eat. I only had about 20 mins before having to head to an appointment. They were SUPER helpful and I had a delicious meal and glass of wine and got out the door on time (I think it was the fastest I'd ever eaten in my life!).
