Food was lovely, tucked away quietly on the side of SH1 had to drive a few kilometers after the sign for restaurant, but the detour is minimal and worth it.

Lovely quiet little cafe, just off the main road. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good selection of food and very well priced, coffee was hot. (Nice little second hand shop just along the road with heaps of bargains too)

Took a drive out to Hikurangi and enjoyed a very truly delicious lunch at Miners Rest Cafe ❤️👌 I had the mussel fritter and seafood chowder. Mind blown 🤯 The chowder was amazing and so creamy full of kaimoana just like you make it at home, the fritter was full of mussel and flavor. Even my mocha was amazing. If you haven't already checked this place out. Deffinatly put it on your list for a visit. 👍💚

Lovely food and great choices, had to wait awhile to be acknowledged and one of the coffee's was so milky it didn't really taste of coffee. But great surroundings and plenty of tables for choice although we had to clear one to sit at it. My third visit here , so was a little disappointed today but would go back.

I recommend a visit. I've not been a caramel square fan but couldn't resist & boy was it nice. It was freshly done. Not too sweet..melt in your mouth. I believe most of their cakes if not all are made there. Nice iced chocolate & chips were very good. The meals looked good & generous. A good atmosphere..open & sunny. A nice spot to be on a cold but sunny day. Not an up market cafe but comfortable & clean..well worth a visit. I forgot to add: there is a great 2nd hand place attached..more antique pieces & bits. Very well set out & nice & tidy & clean. I'm sure you'll find something you'd like to own.

If you like a coffee that's strong ask for a triple shot. Couldnt drink because was like warm milk, was offered a double shot but found that too weak. Basic $13 breakfast was great - nice bacon

Nice place out of the rain. Hot coffee, huge range of cooked meals and cabinet food to choose from. Catered for the kids , the teens the adults. Cool old photos on the wall add to the feel of the place.

Just had breakfast at Miners rest for the first time. Everything is homemade and beautifully presented. A rare treat these days. Coffee and hot chocolate excellent, service cherry. Will come again for sure. Highly recommend!
