We stopped multiple times. The owner is very welcoming. And good food to match. And if you try something once and go back again, she will most likely remember your preferences! The Latte was always spot on. The quiche was filling. Dumplings tasty and Seafood Chowder another excellent choice. Haven't tried everything, but enjoyed everything we tried. The Crispy Chicken Wrap is another special worth mentioning. Lovely views of the Mount Fyffe Range from front of the Cafe.

Omg so friendly and the food was amazing 👏 Clean toilets. Definitely will be back on our travels 🚻 thankyou Chiwis Cafe

Really good coffee - my husband who is very picky about coffee loved his double shot trim flat white and will be back tomorrow for another. I enjoyed a really yummy berry smoothie and the kids had hot chocolates and cheese rolls. The server was very friendly and considerate, checked with us which cup would be best for the kids and made their hot choccies less hot so they could drink them straight away. It’s the little things in hospitality that matter and this cafe definitely delivers! Already thinking about what we’ll have on our visit tomorrow:)

Exceeded expectations. Great friendly wait staff. Delicious chicken burger, c/w bacon beetroot and egg. Great value and a place you shouldn't go past 😁

Dropped in here for a bite to eat. Nice friendly atmosphere with great cake and coffee and tea. On the main road with parking out front. The menu for dining in is really quite nice. Suggest you try this place out I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Came in for breakfast - the food and drinks came out quickly despite it being pretty busy. The eggs benedict was excellent, but the french toast was a little bland - it could use some extra cinnamon or nutmeg. The french toast itself and the bacon were cooked perfectly though, and there weren't any scraps left on the plate! I'd come back again but probably order something different next time.

We wanted to know where to get the best chowder in town and our motel owner recommended us this unassuming little cafe and boy did they live up to expectations! The chowder was thick with generous chunks of fresh seafood and so flavoursome. The ciabatta that came with it was crispy and buttery without being overpowering. We also ordered some good ol’ fish & chips (but instead of chips, I went for the mash), and a mussel pie to go. The fish was fresh and perfectly battered, the mash creamy and I loved that it came with a side of veggies. The mussel pie was gold the next morning too! Would definitely drop in again on our next trip to Kaikoura.

The best eggs Benedict I’ve had in the South Island! Top that off with great service and a great atmosphere, EPIC! Will be back for sure.

Big old kiwi breakfast with a quality flat white and some German charm from the waitress. Definitely a true reflection of small town kiwi culture. A great spot for breaky!

Hidden gem of Kaikoura. Exceptional food and coffee and outstanding customer service. We changed almost everything from the menu we ordered thanks to fussy children and nothing was too much trouble. Service was friendly and accommodating Thank you for a lovely morning!!!

Comes as the first cafe in the road if coming from Blenheim to Kaikoura. Very warm and welcoming staff. Delicious food, clean and tidy place. Many options for breakfast and take away. Highly recommended

Lovely coffee, delicious seafood chowder and a generous serving of cheese and bacon wedges. Clean restrooms and excellent service also made this a great lunch stop on our way through Kaikoura.

Fish n chips are top notch. Friendly staff delivering brilliant coffee and food. Indoor and outdoor seating. Very limited off street parking but plenty of roadside parking.

Great homemade pies here! Had steak & mushrooms pie, steak, bacon & cheese and mussels pie. All were yummy! Hope to try more items on their menu soon!

Friendly service. They do instant coffee and have amazing memory.

Bouhht Steak and Kidney pie great pastry, great gravy and pepper taste but 2 cubes of meat and 1 cube of kidney let it down badly. Panini excellent.

I'm usually pretty stingy on going out for meals especially at cafes but was pleasantly happy with the menu and the lady who served us. So friendly, full of smiles and chatter. Lasagne and salad..👍 Chicken and salad..👍 Chips👍However, would go with something different if your ordering two dishes with salad as they were the same. Else, highly absolutely recommend..🙂

Today was the 3rd time we have stopped here on our way home and we will definatly be making it our go to cafe when in Kaikoura, great choice of kiwi favourites, the best coffee iv had in a long time and the service from the owner is refreshing, So happy and cheerful. See you again soon

My Husband and I visited Chiwi's Cafe as a lunch stop on the way to Blenheim and we were very pleased with our experience! The staff were definitely the best part. I am Gluten and Dairy Free and they went above and beyond to cater for me and didn't make me feel like a nuisance or roll their eyes when I gave them a complicated order (like you get in most places). The chef even put the nuts on the side of my salad in case I was allergy prone! The atmosphere was clean and relaxed, and the portion sizes were excellent for what you pay for. Definitely recommend!

Very clean and tidy....great cup of tea. Eggs Benny was as it should be but the mince on toast was the hero...great breakfast thanks chiwis.

We stopped in early in the morning for breakfast on a road trip down Hw1. This beautiful little cafe serves the best sausage we've had in four years in New Zealand. The eggs and sausages plate fed two adults generously, and came with the best toast either of us has ever had. The ciabatta was crisp on top and soft on the bottom, buttery and not too thick. It's a strange experience discovering that toast can be awesome enough to leave a review for. The hostess said the secret was love - something I'm actually convinced of for once. The service was amazing and welcoming, and the coffee was a great start for our long day. I hope to return soon.

Super friendly team. Good range of cafe food. Able to adapt dishes for people with special diets. Very large portions. It would be nice to have outdoor seating sheltered from the road. I always leave this place with a smile.

BEST grilled Sandwich ever! Good bread, hot, generously filled and fresh ingredients. Nice coffee for reasonable price, loved the steak and mushroom pie and really friendly service!

Cappuccino and salmon bagel were very good. The place is clean. The service is good and the waiters are nice. If you go on the terrace, you are next to the road, I would suggest to put something to make the terrace more cosy with flowers and brise-vue.

Great service. Very tasty food. Since it was further from the central shopping area, it was not crowded, unlike the places in the main part of the town.

If you want bright, friendly service with a smile where nothing is too much trouble, Chiwis is the place to stop when you're coming through Kaikoura. Delicious homemade quiche & pie.

Visit Yan and her staff just about every week for a huge mocachino and something to eat - always welcoming and friendly and of course the food is great. Great place to catch up with friends- highly recommended.
