K.Great coffee, yummy maple tea as well.
Cornbread and thick cut Bacon with fried egg looked great but wanted some thing to balance out the deep-friedness.
Avo and Tomato with poached egg was great, love the additions of the seeds.
Had a few brown stringy avo bits thru it, but other than that tasted good, fresh and light.
Overall a great lil cafe with good service! Plenty of outdoor seating. Would recommend for anyone travelling to Kaikoura.
A.Friendly enough staff, coffee is OK, my first one I had here wasn't nice but this time I asked for specific things and it was perfect however both times I came here to get take away coffee and muffin. The muffins are dry.. the muffin I had today is more like a raisin scone. And I needed butter to make it nice. I had a strawberry and white chocolate muffin last time and there was just a bit of raspberry and chocolate in the bottom so the rest of the muffin was just muffin. Nicer than the one I had today though.

I loved how welcoming and friendly all the staff were.
Menu was a bit different to what you find every where else, thumbs up for that.
The food was incredible and the portions very generous for the $ you paid.
I had the cornbread with poached eggs, it was to die for.
I’m always very picky with my coffee but this place definitely serves a good cup of coffee.
B.Amazing place, did a drive through of Kaikoura. Came back to Sime's Kitchen as it head great street appeal. We weren't disappointed. Coffee was great, food was amazing. I had ham hock Benedict, so many great flavors in one breakfast. Staff were absolutely awesome. The whole place exceptionally clean n tidy.
E.We loved this cafe! The food was delicious and the service was amazing. Thank you ladies for your awesome work! We ordered the French toast with banana, maple syrup and bacon and the eggs Benedict on a toast with bacon. 😋

L.Such a great spot! Lovely, friendly service. Good coffee. Both breakfasts were delicious. The mushrooms on toast with fried egg was amazing as was the brioche French toast. Lovely sitting out in the sun on the balcony.

R.We saw this place on the way back to our accommodation after our trip out on the ocean Whale watching.
We thought that it could possibly be OK, but experience has taught us that recommendation from locals is valuable, so we decided to ask at the reception desk where we are staying, they offered up a couple of places and Sims's was one of them. We were greater by a cheerful young lady from Germany, who told us about the specials and explained the other dishes that were available.
I ordered the beef cheaks, served with mustard infused mashed potatoes and crispy kale, the slow cooed beef was succulent, tender and oh so very tasty, the whole dish was excellently executed, thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful!
My wife had the ham hock eggs Bene, and the children ordered the fried chicken, I also ordered a side dish of truffled pecorrino fries and some corn bread (G/F)
Both the food and service make this establishment a worthwhile place to visit!
M.We were here last year and I was impressed with the quality of the food. This year is the same. Very delicious food. Coffee is great and the service is outstanding 👌. Will be back again. We back (2021)and is still great place for breakfast. Coffee is great.

K.We called in for lunch on our way through to Picton. The menu might not be for everyone but has a fantastic range of whole food, vegan, gf, and vegetarian option along with more standard options. I had heritage tomatoes with feta & avocado on sour dough, which was both generous and delicious. My wife had banana bread done with strawberries, banana & marscapone. Also delicious. Highly recommend. We will be going again.

Great food, and the cornbread is the absolute best I've had outside the US Soutwest or my own recipie.
I missed the Chowder due to the wrong season, but would be back for just that in the Fall based on what I had today!

T.After a couple minutes me and my family were the only ones there, and the service was okay, my breakfast was good. I got the eggs your way with hollandaise and bacon, but the hollandaise had more butter than normal, and it made this 4 stars. I might come back again

r.I have been to simes on 3 separate occasions and every time was a total treat. Lovely staff with great smiley attitudes. The food was sensational. I had the heirlooms tomatoes on toast for breakfast which I couldnt recommend more. I also had the fish special and the Japanese fired chicken which were both perfectly balance and pretty on the plate.
It you want something original and as local as can be with fantastic service and food with more love in it than I've tasted, this is where to drop by. Perfect before and after a dip in the sea as well.
R.Great staff, nice atmosphere. Food was good, I've had better, but very good for the price point they are going for. It still felt quite new. Will be interesting to see how in develops in the months to come. Give it a go!

We stop here for a break on the trip to Chch - lovely service, delicious AND wholesome food, I hear the coffee is great too.
Sam also did some catering for us. For my mothers 70th birthday we did a seafood BBQ, and I wanted to keep it simple, so Simes did 3 amazing salads (potato, asian noodle and green). They were full of goodies (so many 1/4 avocados etc!), lovely flavours and generous portions. The salad bowls were lovely and supplied by Simes - beautifully presented.
Also a fruit salad and ginger slice for the dessert which were fantastic, again full of lovely goodies and wholesome.
Thanks Sam and the team - I highly recommend using them to keep your stress levels down for an event!
