Reviews of Waters Edge Bed & Breakfast
A.
Really lovely stay. Fantastic host! Nice room. Would stay again without hesitation.
M.
Nice and clean room it had everything we needed. Alastair was very welcoming. Walls are very thin though so made for a very noisy stay as the other occupants slammed doors, stomped around and continually seemed to be dragging furniture around till very late. Could actually hear them showering/toilet so that part wasn't the best. Probably wouldn't stay again
K.
Awesome location and great coffee!
And people.
Quiet safe private.
Beaches aren't far away, but also not far to the main town centre.

In order to give the most accurate and most informative Google Reviews, I am one of the few Google Reviewers that judges my reviews on the following 6 points.
1. Service; I found the owner/Managers of this establishment to be friendly, welcoming and service orientated.
2. Coffee/drinks; The Waters Edge Bed and Breakfast, but on this occasion, I did not partake in any food or beverages. There are free coffee and milk and tea in the room.
3. Food; Did not eat any food for breakfast on this occasion.
4. Vibe; I liked the feel of the place, family and locally owned series of rooms at the end of a cul-de-sac. I was travelling by myself and the place had a clean and safe vibe about it-very relaxing for the short time I stayed (I stayed overnight only).
5. Cleanliness; I liked the cleanliness of my room, the bathroom, the kitchen area, the bedding and sheeting were all clean, and the balcony was equipped with two seats where I could sit down and relax and enjoy the quietness of the space.
6. Point of difference; The owner has co-ordinated with a local person to pick up and drop off his guests to the Kaitaia Air terminal for an additional cost of around 25.00. I don't mind, it all seemed reasonable. The cost for a room was around $110.00 - 120.00 New Zealand, which was very reasonable considering the location to shops (You could walk to the shops from the Accommodation) and good quality restaurants (on this occasion I ate at the Beachcomber in Kaitaia - It is well worth visiting for a meal or for drinks after a hard day of sight-seeing or driving.
Based on all of the above points – I give the Waters Edge Bed and Breakfast a 5 out of 5 for all of the above points. I will definitely stay again when in the area.

Awesome breakfast and welcoming hosts. Room was nice and clean, only issue was that our bed was a split mattresse
that made it a bit uncomfortable for two. We were told that was the only room with that bed style and host was apologetic. Great, central location in a quiet cul-de-sac street.

Nice place. Good breakfast. Heidi and family are welcoming and the pool was a life saver after a long day's drive. The room was quite small so good for a night or two only. Clean and cosy though.

I'd rate this place 3.5 stars, but Google won't let me. It was an alright experience, but I wouldn't stay there again or recommend it to my friends. Here's why.
The price is reasonable given that there's slim pickings in this area, however we ended up with a room that was right next to the car park and adjacent to the kitchen/dining area.
The room itself was really small, but fairly cozy. As far as rooms go, it was one of the smallest I've ever been in, and I've been in countless hotels/motels over the years since I travel a fair bit. When I say small, I mean it was smaller than my bedroom at home, and my en suite is larger than the bathroom it had too. It was adequately decked out though, including a heater to use for cold nights.
My main peeve with the place was that I asked for a room change because of the noise and the fact that it wasn't as advertised on the website (I wanted to chill and relax in the morning and not hear people and car doors being slammed), however the manager refused to let us swap, even though 3 other rooms were available at the time according to the website we used to book. I even said I'd be willing to pay more. The reason given was that they didn't want to have to make our room up and that "they're a B&B and not a motel", even though they sure appear like one. Fair enough, but I never had that low level of service anywhere in all my time of traveling across the world, since owners/managers are usually pretty accommodating, especially if there's rooms available.
The breakfast was decent, so no complaints about that. If it wasn't for the issue I had with swapping rooms, the manager that cooked the meal would have been really nice.
The one thing to watch out for is the potholes in the driveway, as others have states too. The owners should really invest a bit of money to fix this since many rental car places don't actually cover you for damage done to the underside of the car. But that's not a major issue.
The location is fine if you have a car, granted there's not a lot to do in Kaitaia itself. If they were willing to go the extra mile and actually care about customer service by offering a room swap, I'd rate this a solid 4 stars. But as it stands, the service we got was appalling compared to everywhere else we've been.

Lovely setting and friendly host. Very clean and comfortable. Walls very thin though for sound coming through from next door hosts so soundproofing in walls be good

Comfortable enough.Breakfasts suitable for a hungry lumberjack. Lovely proprietors. A bit noisy if you are a light sleeper. Growling fridge noises, water pumps for hours on end and fairly permeable walls. Still it's a peaceful haven and overall value for money. Would return.

Had a good stay, nice clean rooms and we had our own little patio. The host is very friendly and gave us great tips on what to do and where to eat!
K.
Great value for money. The hospitality was world class! Super comfortable bed and the room had all the necessary facilities. The only downfall was our particular room smelt a bit musty.
A.

Great place to stay. Clean, today, well organised and you can park close to the room so easy to get your bags and cases from the car to the room 👌

Good breakfast in a convivial room with other guests to chat with, nice room & shower. Host was polite & helpful. Pool , although not heated, was just right. Ideally placed for visiting Cape Reinga with Harrisons ( highly recommend).

Stayed there January 2012, when they has just opened. The owner had just bought the place, and was still moving in to the adjoining house. Even so, he was SUPER nice and very friendly. Welcoming family, that did everything they could to make us feel at home. Great place, would recommend highly!

I am here right now. And the place is gorgeous!!! Beautiful place. Cosy and homely. 5 stars it deserves none less than that. Everything about this place is awesome!!!! Comfy bed everything up to standard. Soooo clean. Nothing to fault about this experience.

Tucked away in a residential area with parking on the owners' drive, this B&B is a super place to rest your head. Your hosts are marvellous and can give useful tips on the local sights and sounds. There is Sky TV in the room. The pièce de resistance is the breakfast. Honey smoked bacon, delicious creamy scrambled eggs and by special request I was allowed to try a bit of the South African chutney on the side. The home blended coffee is worth the stay alone... I wonder what their secret recipe is?

The room and en suite are a tad cramped but hey, this is a family run B&B, not the honeymoon suite at the Bellagio.
S.
Incredibly comfortable and homely B&B, located a few minutes walk from the centre of town. The hosts do everything they can to ensure you have a fantastic stay, including a cooked breakfast to order every morning in the main building. Highly recommended.

(Translated) In itself a nice, clean room, the landlord very nice, it was just too small. It lacked a seating area for breakfast and a toaster. Unfortunately, no beds were made. Dishes and bath towels only on request new ...
