Great coffee, nice outdoor area, absolutely loved the chicken, bacon, asparagus and cream cheese pie. So much so, that the next time we went back I got the exact same thing again

I have given the Cottage Cafe 3 stars only because their pies and the coffee were delicious however the service is horrendous! All the staff look so unhappy and I actually thought I had done something wrong due to the look I received and the aggressive tone when advised of the total amount of my order.
This cafe could be a huge success if the staff had just the basics of good customer service. Really disappointing 😕
**Thanks for your reply, the lady had long blonde hair in a ponytail. Older than the other staff members. Had a rainbow (colourful) facemask on.

The service was good, my chicken roll wasnt great, the bun was very dry, so only ate the filling, that part was all good , plenty of chicken etc

What an amazing wee Cafe! The cozy atmosphere, best coffee in Lincoln along with the best pies in the country by a long way make this a great place to stop for lunch. The staff are allways cheerfull and friendly, and will never fail to put a smile on your face. Thoroughly recomend a visit if your passing through. Keep up the awesome work team 😁

It was a great spot to grab lunch - just a six minute walk from the events center (where I had a full day workshop). Loads of selection. I got a pulled pork pie.. it was not as amazing as I was hoping, still very good though!! I would definitely go back to try a different flavor! I was eyeing up the lamb and kumara...

Lovely coffee ☕ 😋 an amazing selection of cabinet food.. we had a yummy full breakfast and eggs benny with bacon. A very good sized serving. Totally recommend 👌

Friendly staff, nice pies and good coffee.

Was surprised to see Hillyers gone and replaced by this but the pies appeared to be the same delicious pies. Service was not good - the woman who took our orders and payment looked and sounded like she'd rather be anywhere else. The inside needed a vacuum desperately and the garden had been let go.

I went to Lincoln University from 2002-2006. The pies and service were exceptional back then. I made a visit recently and the quality of the service was nothing like it used to be. I had a pie dumped on my table in a bag when I clearly had an 'eat in' order. No plate or cutlery offered. I was drinking my coffee at the table, so this should have been obvious. Pies weren't as tasty as I remembered, but this could have been me romanticising the past. The steak and relish pie wasn't too bad. This was at a non-busy time too. Improvement needed.

LOVE the Chicken and Asparagus Pies. So yummy! Only down is the wait, especially if people ordering coffee before you. Only one person working the day I called in

Good food and coffee. Quite popular so sometimes the cabinet food selection can be limited. My go too place in Lincoln.

Eaten here about 20 times now as it’s close to work - Good breakfast foods, some GF and DF options too - coffee not very good, service is mixed; sometimes friendly, sometimes not so much
G.
Nice place for coffee and some meals. I like the art paintings displayed too.

During our Golf safari sojourn through enchanting Ellesmere I was compelled by Leestonian 'patriots' to pilgrimage my way towards your pie-topia paradiso. Upon appearances, I indeed felt as if I had magically been teleported to some kind of culinary Xanadu. The premises was impeccable, the personnel sublimely and sportily suited and the garden was a cottage garden treat of visual awe and floral opulence. And then, your cafeterias dominos began to catastrophically tumble. The pretty, well groomed but incredibly naive and unworldy young mademoiselle at the counter seemed to have multiple issues with my partner who though née in Chile is quite proficient in English, French, Portuguese, Italian and Castellan. Do you not get many gringos out here in your neck of the woods? I myself, a born and bred New Zealander who has acquired a hint of a Pommie twang was also given that "oh your an outer towner"leering quizzical glance. As a foody savant and gregarious gourmand, I was not spellbound with the lacklustre, bland and stale country fair which we found to be painfully unpalatable. But then again, maybe sloppy s

Purchased four of Hillyers famous pies cold to take for my elderly mothers freezer along with baking instructions. Very nice service.
