R.A good place to eat. The first eggs bene had very hard eggs, so I sent it back and the second try was perfect! They offered a free drink while I waited too, so excellent service. Cheers!
L.Grabbed a breakfast panini which was very tasty. It got sausages, bacon, eggs and spinach and combined really well with the hollandaise sauce.

S.Great little diner. Well priced and intimate surround. Decent burgers and shakes and mammoth loaded chips. Best thing is the fantastic bubbly staff who look after you very well. Ice creams as well if you can fit them.
H.Food is pretty great and in my opinion fair value. Did feel a little ill after the burger and the timing of when the food came out was all over the place but felt happy with this place overall.

M.Great experience here! Lots of food on offer at very reasonable prices. Staff were friendly. The place is small and the pink colours are a bit glaring for me, but the open window seats are quite nice! No complaints about the coffee, and I'll add to the recommendations on the garlic chips - they were delicious and you get quite a large portion, so perhaps share it with someone if you're not super hungry. Overall a lovely place to go to if you're not sure where to go for a bite in the area!

B.Wow for the burgers and amazing garlic chips. These place is awesome. We literally checked the other places but either the options of the price could be better then Trancar. Just loved it. Double burger and the crispy chicken burger were awesome. The staff is super friendly too. I loved it! Super recommend.
Y.Came to have Sunday lunch for the first time and was very impressed by the food and service. It was super busy but staff were friendly and polite and food arrived quickly. We had The Veganator, pesto salad, apple fennel salad, sticky toffee cupcake and Coco Loco. The vegan burger was really juicy and the sauce tangy and spicy. We really loved the cabinet salads. So fresh and the dressing was zesty without being overwhelmingly saucy or salty. Recommend Coco Loco if you don’t like sweet drinks but want something fresh and cool. Right up our alley. Very happy to have stopped here for lunch and would come here again.
Z.Exquisite food and great ice cream range. The desserts were also creative and delicious. Only problem was that the breakfast panini didn't have hollandaise sauce after advertising that it did. This wasn't too much of an issue however as the staff were very helpful and extremely friendly so they just put some hollandaise on it after I asked and that was it. Would definitely recommend if you're going to Matakana.

M.We simply loved it. Good food, good quantity and super friendly staff! We will 100% stop here next time we come to Matakana and recommend everybody to try it. The coffee was also good and the turmeric latte was worth the try (with added sugar). To show how good the people are here too, we forgot our umbrellas but the waiter ran all the way around the road just to give them back to us. Thanks again!!!

E.This place has the BEST freakshakes I’ve ever had. Not only do they look spectacular, they taste AMAZING. Really nice atmosphere and the other food looked tasty too. Highly recommend if you’re in town.
M.Great value for the money. The burger, chips, and milkshake are very tasty. The fish ceviche tacos were below average. The fish was marinated in some kind of coconut milk, instead of lemon lime and chilli. It could’ve worked if the fish was fresh, and wasn’t in tacos. Also the slaw that was in tacos had no flavour. Would give it 4-5 stars if I didn’t have the tacos I guess....

J.Usually great burgers but I tried the Lamb-urgini and the Lamb-Herb Pattie was a rubbery processed thing with no herbs in it. Pity. The sauces were divine and the Gluten-free Buns are huge and fresh.

My almond milk coffee smoothie was exactly what I needed after our cycle from point wells. Def love to come back again. Staff very friendly, service timely considering the queue is up the street. Well worth the cost & the wait. Thanks team at the Tramcar.

A.Very popular place during the market hours on Sat. We had a delious breakfast burrito roll. Bit chaotic as many people were waiting for their orders, but definitely worth the wait. Yummy.
S.Fantastic food and reasonable prices. Best ever fresh strawberry milkshake and Angus burger. Staff are always cheerful and this place is one of our faves when travelling up North.
S.Update in May 2021: Wow, setting the standard for great food and service! I have been three times: once for coffee and gluten free cakey things (excellent), second visit fish and chips, third was burgers and chunky chips. Very impressed with all, but it's the burgers that stole the show. Amazing GF buns, delicious vegetarian options and the free range chicken burger was divine. Chunky chips also sooooo good. This place is better than Burger Fuel!

N.Humming place on market day. However meals were largely functional. Fried fish a little overcooked and chips dished in coupe plate with tartare sauce dumped on top in plastic container.
Second meal : Salad consisted solely of greens and sliced apple no protein of any description. Bland.
Best third meal was organic chicken and avocado wraps. Excellent.
J.Plus points were good value food, fast service and one of the few places we'd found still making coffee after 1600. Despite it being nearly empty there was still leftovers on some of the tables from previous clients which was a bit annoying. Unfortunately there were no in house toilets, it was necessary to use the bathrooms in the adjacent mall which had very poor baby changing facilities.
P.Great coffee ( long black) great selection of food (will fit in with you if gluten free required). Yummy looking ice creams (did have one myself but saw ones that had been ordered by a group and the all looked great). Friendly customer service.

C.Whenever we make the trip from the north shore to Tawharanui we stop off in matakana at the Tramcar Diner for their perfect coffee and amazing food. The manager here is so friendly and really makes this place feel welcoming. Would recommend this lil slice of heaven to everyone visiting matakana ❤️

M.We split the duck buger after confirming that it was egg and dairy free, they proceded to serve us the burger on a brioche bun. Halfway through our meal we noticed it may be brioche and double checked about the bun containing dairy, the server was not apologetic and instead blamed us for the fault and us not already knowing. Burger tasted good. Other than the lady serving us the staff were lovely, coffee cups were dirty.
I.Always a pleasure grabbing a quick bite here before hitting the beach. Great variety of burgers from their menu, and the Chunky Monkey shake is to die for!
A.Great food, paninis toasted for the kids, tasty nachos and crunchy fish burger - all for a touch over $40. Lovely friendly staff too.

J.Used to be the ice cream place on the roundabout, now redecorated as a cool little diner selling the best value burgers in Auck. Big tasty sandwiches for the kind of money Macca's would charge. Will probably be teeming in the summer. Does take out if you fancy wandering down to the river if there's no where to sit. Recommended!
G.The shop just changed owners a few days ago, and the place is looking great! Sit in and take away for ice cream, creative smoothies with real fruit, coffees (try a tumeric or beetroot latte!) and a variety of burgers.
