This place is so lovely. I've been there with family 3 times. The view is amazing, the café is nice and the animals are the highlight for me, I love feeding and petting them.

It was a bit chilly day when we pulled into the Carpark . Plenty of parking for large motorhomes and then a short walk to the Woolshed Cafe. It was a lovely feeling opening the cafe door and being met with the warmth from a hot fire. We had cake and a hot drink, and after looking around inside at the crafts on display, thanked the staff and walked around outside looking at the animals . DOG friendly must be on a leash .

It's very cool & the coffee & food is excellent. Loved the shop & the animals are a treat....take your kids. Only open weekends!

Loved this place. Rustic, gorgeous goodies, loved the animals, lovely place to relax and have a break.

Great rustic place with lots of character! Good coffee, scones and yummy toasted sandwiches. They have a small selection of paperback books which you can read as you enjoy your coffee. Lots of history of the local area on display and interesting wool products for sale. You can also visit the friendly animals outside. Good to visit this place before or after a caving/hiking/mountain biking trip in the area

Amazing Cafe, lovely owners, great food and drinks. We stopped here by pure chance and absolutely loved it.

Spent a fair part of my afternoon here! Was going to show off how good the food and coffee are! But you expect that with cafes today! Where the Woolshed Canaan stands above the rest is the amount of wildlife you’re able to get up and close to! Incredible place to chill out, enjoy the music and relax!

Converted from an old woodshed, this is a quirky little cafe.
There's souvenirs and locally made crafts for sale.
Good coffee, and pleasant, friendly service. The food range was a little limited, but we didn't go for food. We took the kids up to spend a rainy morning doing felt craft. You can felt your own soap and make felt pictures. There's also a few farm animals for the kids to look at.
Worth a stop in if you need a break going over the hill, or just for the chance to do a different craft.
We loved it!

What a great find! Had a lovely time exploring the shop and feeding animals. Great coffee and yum fresh fruit icecream! My daughter and I have just made felted soap from one of the felting kits we purchased in the shop, fun to make and instructions were excellent.

Lovely coffee and some interesting wool crafts. Worth the stop on a nice day.

Great atmosphere with the animals. It's so calm and slows down the day, if you just sit there, relax and feel happy with the coffee in your hand and an warm apple pie on your plate.

What a find. Gorgeous yarn shop with the benefit of excellent coffee while I cogitated about the difficult decision of what to buy from the amazing selection of yarns grown on the farm. For non-yarn lovers there was animals, a small but excellent library and other yarn based crafts such as felting and weaving. A veritable treasure grove.

Lovey scone cakes and coffee. Interesting locally made gifts and wool. Well worth a visit. Great for families as a variety of animals to look at

Rustic and real ...coffee, food and people a special place with an amazing view of a unique geological wonderland.
Say hi to the friendly old pig out basking in the sunshine. I will be back

Very interesting place with lots of Gotland sheep wool and so may knitted and woven and felted things to buy, also carded and spun wool.Just thought some bigger and better signage would help at corner of the main road and tidy up lawn, seating area outside to encourage more NZ tourists in since we dont have so may from overseas at present.Didnt have food or cooffee but it looked pretty yummy food.We had just eaten before going there or we would have had lunch there.

This is an out-of-the-way cafe on top of the Takaka Hill. The menu is very limited but the shop, animals, and scenery make it worth a visit. I bought several quirky gifts here for my creative friends!
There are silkies (hens), goats, pigs, a llama, emu and calves.

Country cafe which supplies a variety of food and drinks. There is no insulation in the building, but they have a fire going when it's colder. There's hand crafts for sale and animals you can pat. Worth stopping at on the journey up and over the big hill.

This place is a real gem. On the Takaka Road, just at the beginning of the road to Harward's Hole. I hadn't been back for two years and was pleased to see it is still going well. It's is really a Woolshed and is the best place to stop for a break on the way into our out of Takaka. I can recommend the Devonshire Tea - warm homemade scone - hmmm hmmm.
Of course, it's the perfect place for MTB'ers to meet before hitting the Canaan Loop or Rameka Track.
Oh yeah - they have cute animals.
