L.What an amazing array of homemade baked goods! I chose the Hummingbird Cake - which was a HUGE cake and meant that the slices were also huge! Cream cheese icing covered in large coconut shreds garnished a lovely moist cake...which went so well with 2 x long blacks, also delicious! (Please don't tell anyone that this was my breakfast!) 😉
A.Eightyeight Cafe is really worth a visit, great food and drink options for breakfast, lunch or a quick bite. Well worth hunting out and giving it a try, highly recommended.
N.Great food and good coffee can be had here. However when visiting between Christmas and New Year the place was packed, and social distancing was completely being ignored. It didn't feel safe so I left.
J.Good food. Something for vegetarian and vegan as well as for meat eaters. Good sized meals so bring a good appetite. Very busy. Good service.
S.The staff friendly and the snacks were outstanding. The chicken wraps were full of tender moist chicken. The carrot cake was something to dye for. I don't know if they do their own baking but it was very good.
S.Everyone loved the brunch and desserts so much that we had to come back again the next morning before leaving Tauranga. Really beautifully presented (and definitely instagram worthy). A really wide range of pantry desserts to choose from but it'll be good to go early as they really are snatched up fast! Drinks are amazing too, especially the hot chocolate and the smoothies.
B.After a diabolical customer service experience at Sidetrack Cafe near the mount we were recommended this place for breakfast and thank God because this was divine. The staff are wonderful the service perfect. We had a chat with the lovely Ann the baker at the cafe who nearly had us in tears. A serendipitous encounter which brightened up my morning, erased bad experiance and loved meeting people. That's before I bit into the bacon cream cheese with cranberry sauce brioche that is phenomenal. If you imagine taste of heaven this is it. What are you waiting for....GO!

S.A world class gastronomical experience. Been to Cafe 88 several times when we visit Mount Maunganui. My favourite for breakfast is the Granola. Lolly cake for morning tea. Lunch is the Paleo chicken salad. This cafe is out of this world and the best in New Zealand.We can't wait to be back.

There is no table service but ordering at the counter is fast and efficient. I'm sure this would be a strong contender for best cafe at the mount.

J.I can recommend this establishment, they have Gravity Coffee, a beautiful roast. The latte is creamy, strong and has that delicous burnt flavour, usually I have two glasses when I go in. Comfortable and relaxing inside, tables are cleaned regularily. Great Baristas, have a wide selection of snacks and freshly cooked food. The staff are friendly, efficient and look after you well. As your local google guide I can recommend, try this cafe and enjoy, it is my port of call when over at the Mount.

R.Haven't visited for a while and nice to see that the food is still good. Unfortunately the same cant be said for the cleanliness....its pretty revolting to sit down at a table with bird poo all over it, and when I asked a staff member if he could wipe the table down, he walked off and didn't return. You really need to get the bird situation sorted.

A.It s great to go have breakfast and lunch. They have yummy pastries cakes sandwiches and coffees and more. It s often busy. I recommend to go there. The location is really good as well not far from Mt mounghanui and the beach.

M.Shout out to Shaun (not sure if the spelling is correct), the Chef who made our vegan smashed avo and vegan creamy mushrooms. He made sure we were happy with the quality and taste and was more than happy to tailor it to our needs! Meals are the same price as smashed avo at Coffee Club but 5x the size and 1000x better in taste! They are flexible with their menu and it's oh so tasty. They also have vegan pies and sausage rolls and the coffee is amazing! If you're in the area make sure you drop in! Staff are super friendly and accommodating. 12/10 will go there again and again and again.....

They could improve the service giving the people the menu while they wait in the queue, then people are ready to order when they reach the counter, not spending time deciding and letting other people waiting.

A.Has it all. The food, ambience and service! Home cooked cakes, like the best carrot cake that I have ever eaten in the world. The menu is always interesting and delicious. They go the extra mile here to give you a great experience at this cafe. A quiet area out back, the buzz in the cafe, or outside the front in the sun amongst it all. Such a cool place. Great coffee made with love and barista passion.
A.#6 here now as reviewing.. staff seemed stressed at 10am.. Management : guy on till prob shouldnt be posted at point of sale at busy time as seemed not ready for it.. person on coffee machine seemed unhappy and frustrated.. person who delivered my order was only one with smile and offered basic service.. otherwise food was good coffee was ok.
E.I've been here twice and both times it was amazing. The selection and quality of the baked goods here is unreal. Absolutely loved the stuffed scone and caramel slice I had. The coffee was also amazing. Good service, lovely location, looking forward to my next visit!

m.My go to cafe in the Mount. Excellent service, coffee and the cabinet food is luscious. The ciabatta with avo was a bit bland but might be time of the year with avos. Thought a lemon olive oil could elevate its flavour. Doesn't detract from the score though as this place is the bee's knees

A.Food was good, coffee was decent. Only thing I could fault was the timing of our food arriving. My friends got there food (which was ordered at the same time) well after I had finished my meal and my coffee. But then again it was a public holiday so maybe it was a once off.

E.Every time i have visited over the years this place is busy so that's a great sign. Staff have always been fast and friendly. Tons of options to choose from, even plenty for a plant based eater, vegan slices available for the sweet toothers out there:) I tried the vegan lovers from the menu board, which was kumera croquettes with some hummus, avo and few bits and pieces. The concept was great and well presented, however it all lacked flavour. Due to being a cook myself i know this will be an easy fix for them, salt and spices people, salt and spices. So therefore i still rate the place well as this was just one aspect.

S.We went for brunch, it was very busy so there was a bit of a wait. Ordered 5 big breakfasts and pancakes for the 3 year old. Not kid friendly as we asked for a kid size meal but they couldn't accommodate so paid the $17 price tag. 3 of us had poached eggs and disappointed to find them "hard-boiled" we asked for replacements which came quickly. All in all delicious and large servings but let down by not having any kid size meals

I had the Benedict on hash and bagel devine . Took away extremely ample slice of moist cream cheese apricot and pumpkin seed topped carrot cake and Lolly cake...
We're comming back. Its not cheap nor terribly expensive. The Haloumi salad wraps are worth trying as well.
