S.Cute local cafe with great cabinet food, raw “healthy” desserts. The menu had the usual breakfast & brunch culprits (eggs on toast, smashed avo, eggs bene…) as well as some interesting Asian-inspired options (poke bowl, laksa bowl) which was great to see. I got a cheese and vege scone and a raw slice from the cabinet. Both were satisfying.

R.I never leave google reviews, but this is definitely worth it! I had to leave quickly so was unable to thank the staff at the time. I ordered the Miso creamy mushrooms on a potato rosti and it was the best I’ve ever had! Beautifully balanced flavours, piping hot, juicy mushrooms, filling but not too rich. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Awesome work!

K.I have only visited Kawakawa Cafe twice, but will certainly be returning. We enjoyed their delicious savoury scones and really good coffee. Kawakawa is medium sized, relatively new and has a nice vibe to relax in. The cafe was purpose designed as part of a recently built apartment complex, Salt, situated near the beach, Bayfair shopping center and Baywave pool complex.The service is pleasant and matched with good coffee and a delicious selection of counter goodies. I haven't eaten from the menu, but friends have commented that the meals are excellent. The cafe is north facing allowing plenty of light and warmth from the sun plus a few tables are out on the small terrace outside. There is parking available adjacent to the cafe and the entrance ramp allows access for people with mobility requirements. Very clean restrooms including a disability option. I noticed Kawakawa Cafe is popular with recreational bikers which is always a good sign.
Covid restrictions were in place so social distancing had blocked out some of the seating. Nevertheless, it didn't alter the nice relaxing time we had.
Kawakawa Cafe is a great place to meet friends for a catch-up over brunch or just a coffee.
J.This reasonably new Cafe is well worth a visit. The homemade food is yummy with many GF options, perfect coffee, friendly staff. For something light the scones are delicious. Enjoy!

G.Absolutely fabulous. Same owners as Tay St. Staff very friendly. They truly make you feel welcome. Nothing is a problem. While we were there, a couple congratulated them as to the great meal they had. Great place. You won't be disappointed.
