What a great cafe! Perfect stop for us towing caravan on a hot Hawkes Bay day. Ample parking, some in the shade. This quaint historic old Sunday School is charming, eat inside or out, polite dogs very welcome, very good children ‘s playground and spotless toilet facilities. The menu looked delicious and will try that next time but yesterday was excellent coffee and a fab cheese scone and apple crumble slice- delicious! Staff were super friendly and there is a little shop within selling local crafters goodies. This is our no. 1 stop off now and looking forward to a return visit soon! Ka pai!🥰

Nice cosy cafe with good service and fair prices. I had the Thai Beef Salad. Beef was very tasty but thought there was to much salad compared to the amount of meat. Would be amazing with a ball of rice and a little less salad.

I have often driven past,.. What a surprise oasis beautiful outlook to local farms. Plenty of shaded seating and open air,, lovely service and grand menu and great selection of cakes and treats also. A lovely todllers play area among the tables so guardians can supervise while enjoying thier meal also plenty of shade to tie up a dog in the car park. Highly recommend a stop to contemplate or have special time with family or friend(s).

Wow! Loved the vibe. Very rustic.Sat on verandah under a grape vine and didn't want to leave. HAVANA coffee soooo good had 2 Americanos. Date scone best I have had ever. Staff working hard and welcoming. Good for those with vaccine passport and even those without who can order a take away at the usual front entrance that is set up to do this. There is also a seperate large room that caters for groups. Get out and support this amazing cafe in the country.

We always stop here when travelling to and from Hastings. It's rustic and atmospheric but most of all we like to say Hi to Mulberry the cat. The food and coffee are good and even though we've had better elsewhere we always look forward to stopping here. It's now 2 years after the initial review (October 2021). The cafe has had a bit of an interior spruce up but still retains it's atmosphere. Regretfully Mulberry the Cat passed away about a year ago. He was 17.

We've been stopping in here for over 20 years when ever we're in the bay. Always great food, exceptional coffee and prompt, happy service. The décor is interesting and the little store sells unique local products. Definitely worth a stop.

An amazing atmosphere and the friendliest help ever. It was such an amazing experience to walk into the cafe today. The food was delicious and the service the best we had for a long time. We will definitely visit again!!

We stopped in here for a coffee on our way south. Very cute with a good atmosphere. The coffee was superb. The gifts were lovely. My only concern is with the general filthyness of the place. Ever surface needed a good scrub. The couch cushions were covered in cat hair and food. The bathroom sink was grotty. The food cabinet glass was so greasy and dusty, I wrote 'clean me' on it. The water glasses were too dirty to use, we handed them back. The staff could do with a lesson in customer service and personal presentation. I wouldn't stop here again.

We went there twice in two days. The first time I got a breakfast/brunch. It was a vegetarian option, it was nice everything was cooked well but there was no sort of sauce offered either with a meal or on tables. So it was a little dry and bland. The next day we came back on the way through again, and had a coffee and picked up one of the bags on the counter that has the day old muffins. They were amazing could easily have sold them as being new and they were delicious. Well worth the second trip through.

Loved the fact that they had proper tea leaves in all varieties and in tea pots. We sat outside with the nature of animals, it was really lovely. Food was good, atmosphere too. However, i am still waiting to hear back on an email that i sent over 6 months back, and well, that has downgraded the star situation. Communication is a must with me, regardless. As this is an all round experience of my visit, one just hopes it wasnt just me who feels this way.

The coffee was OK, but I didn't notice the sign about them all being double shots until after i sat down to drink it. Too strong for me. The food was OK and there was a good selection. Pricing was also OK. Although the decor is supposed to be rustic, the overall feel to me was "tired and run down". Plenty of places that need a lick of paint and cobweb removal. Staff were pleasant and efficient but not chatty to me. Regulars there seemed to be greeted warmly. Overall ambiance was nice enough. The couch i sat on was too low,so be warned that trying to eat whist sitting on the couches requires one to perch somewhat uncomfortably on the edge of the couch. May go again, but not in a hurry. Might be a nice place to sit outside shooting the breeze with a group of friends.

I have gone to eat in this restaurant, I have loved the house inside and out, a rural decoration according to the place, the excellent food I give it a 10, the presentation of the dishes sublime, the correct price and the excellent coffees, I often go to have cappuccino and relax on the patio, the customer service is super good I have always been happy with the place even if I have to hitchhike from Otane but I do not care whenever the circumstances are conducive to tasting the restaurant formidable winter the interior with fireplace I have included the cat, congratulations to all the workers for the highly valued services they have with customers, I am from Spain although I do not speak English correctly the staff is very grateful for that and for many reasons I write these reviews ,thank you very much

The wife and I decided to go to the Paper Mulberry Cafe on Sunday 14th. It took us 15 months driving past this cafe to finally stop and try this CAFE. OMG I wish we had stopped sooner. I had the open chicken sandwich and a large hot chocolate, the wife had the Quesadilla and a large Cappuccino. Again OMG the Food and drinks were great. No points for guessing WE WILL DEFINITELY BE GOING BACK. YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS CAFE. 4 June 2021. Went here again and got the same food. THE PROBLEM THIS TIME. Grab what I thought was a salt shaker, had 1 hole in the top, but was pepper, which normally has 3 holes on top. Told a staff member and got told, We have random salt and pepper shakers. Not good when you don't like pepper. Random for some could result in a bad reaction. That itself was enough to slightly spoil the experience. They definitely have great food.

A nice setting but not well maintained I feel. More weeds than plants. The kids enjoyed the slide. A good selection of food but I had 2 cheese rolls at $3.50 each. It was just a slice of bread with a blob of cheese. Certainly not worth the $, I did choose it however so more fool me. I don't know if I will stop there again sadly.

I’ve been to the Paper Muberry Cafe many times and each time I walk away feeling relaxed and very satisfied! Food is always wonderful and the atmosphere is a perfect country setting. My favourite time to visit is in winter where I can park myself by the fire! In summer sitting outside on the deck is just wonder - what a view.

Omg went here for lunch 2day (14 April) it was the first time that I've been. I have passed often and always said that I'll stop sometime. Today I did my husband and I were sitting at home deciding on what to do, I suggested we go out for lunch which posed the question of where. I suggested here . So off we went. boy was I pleased we did I had the creamy mushroom quesadilla and a cappuccino my husband had the open chicken sandwich plus a hot chocolate. (Translated) Cozy little cafe in the middle of nowhere. Stayed on our way down to wellington and I am delighted. Bought coffee and muffins. What muffins !!! Among the tastiest I've eaten. The place is absolutely fantastic with fields and hills all around. Stop if you have the roads past !! (Original) Mysigt litet café mitt i ingenstans. Stannade på vår väg ner till wellington och det är jag glad över. Köpte kaffe och muffins. Vilka muffins!!! Bland de godaste jag ätit. Stället ligger helt fantastiskt med fält och kullar runt omkring. Stanna om ni har vägarna förbi!!
