R.My family and I had an excellent time celebrating my 21st at Harbour Light Bistro. We came on a Tuesday, so it was very quiet. The staff were very attentive, not overbearing or pressuring at all. The manager on duty, Matt, was a wonderful, friendly host to us. The food on the set menu was all beautifully cooked and well worth the price. We will love to come again.
T.So delicious I went twice in one week! Definitely the best food I've had in Nelson by a long shot. Everything was cooked to perfection and the flavours were amazing. I would have gone a third time in the week if I could!
J.Each dish served across our group of 9 was worth savouring. Lamb was succulent and a popular choice, many eyes closed white taking their first bites, to extend the sensation.
Views enhanced the experience, along with a good wine selection and nice cocktail twists.
Definite for a Nelson dining hit list.

On a hot busy evening, after a long service behind face masks, the staff were bubbly and attentive whist being completely patient with our large group dinning late. Thank you. B.Don't get the hamhock terrine. $20.50 for what is essentially a deep fried croquette the size of a credit card. That was the only let-down in what was otherwise an excellent night of dining. Everything else we had was outstanding, especially the mains and desserts, although a touch pricey.

i.It’s such a beautiful place. We had an amazing dinner there. The view of sunset is breathtaking, and the restaurant itself is fine decorated. The light inside just made everything nice and warm. We enjoyed all dishes too.

J.We chose the 3 course meal which was pretty good value. Spicy pumpkin soup starter, then onto lamb on a bed of kumara mash followed by a ginger cake dessert. Mmm was so good. Full flavoured dishes. Cosy atmosphere with great views of the sunset across the bay.
S.I had the pleasure of being in Nelson for the Christmas break 2018/2019 and visited Harbour Light Bistro, a gorgeous restaurant overlooking the water with 2-4-1 Main Meals in the Entertainment Book. My partner and I both had the cheese-crusted lamb rump with kumara puree, green veges, and rosemary sauce - the lamb was cooked to absolute perfection, and the flavours were amazing! Highly recommend a visit if you're in Nelson 😉
P.S. Make sure you book in advance if you want to guarantee a table with a great view!

e.Celebrated a special birthday here with some friends who were mainly vegetarian. We asked if it was possible to provide a couple of choices outside of the menu and were stunned by the amount of effort the chef went to in order to accommodate us. The result was a very memorable and enjoyable evening and the food was absolutely delicious. Waitress was very friendly and helpful. All in all a wonderful experience and one we will all be repeating in the near future.

R.Love going to eat here. The staff are always very attentive and the food is consistently excellent. The menu is not huge but covers most options. The piri piri squid is very nice and the lamb rump with the cheese crust has to be tried - so tender and tasty. Excellent wine/beer menu as well.

S.All I wanted was to go to seafood restaurant and eat seafood I asked before I sat down "you have seafood on your menu?" Yes was the reply we are a seafood restaurant.... 2 things on the menu in seafood fish of the day and battered fish & chips .... do I expect a lot i am not sure ...where 's the squid whitebait mussels you know real seafood it could have been any Cafe in Nelson ...service was good ...but I was looking out at that awesome view and thinking about seafood

r.We had a 60th wedding anniversary there. Although the place was quite packed, the staff were quick and very helpful. The food was exceptional. They offered to cut the cake (with a small fee) though in the end we decided that there was enough food and didn't cut the cake. I would definitely recommend the place.

C.Lunch was adequate but disappointed that the flavours weren't a bit more special. I chose the 3 course menu for $35. Perhaps I should have ordered the fish from the 2 choice main course. The place wasn't busy so we expected quicker service than we got. The best thing about this restaurant is the fabulous view over the harbour.

R.This place is great. Awesome food, especially the beet sorbet salad. A must try. My wife said it was the most delicious salad she's ever had, and let me tell you, she's had quite a few! The view is fantastic of Nelson Harbor, and you might be rewarded with an amazing sunset. Book early, as there are not many window seats. Best for a romantic dinner and or a relaxing view of the harbor. This should be a must visit if you are in Nelson, NZ.

A.Definately a favourite place to go. The food is always good. Great for vegetarian meals or people with specific dietry requirements. The only real downside for me is it gets quite noisy when its full. Even though no ones trying to be loud, probably just down to the design of the building. Superb otherwise.
Favourite dish has to be the ravioli.
A.A fantastic Grand Finale dinner to a two week holiday touring New Zealand..the chef’s homemade Ravioli was superb, as was our Lime Tart dessert! Highly recommend this restaurant..good friendly service, fantastic views of the bay and wonderful food prepared by their innovative chef.

C.A great place to eat - and the views can't be beaten. Personally, I was a little disappointed that they didn't appear to have any chicken dishes on the menu anymore last time I dined there (I'm not a seafood eater). If you're looking for a place to dine AND stay then why not check-out "The Pilot House" right next door? (just Google it - visible in the accompanying photo).

M.Wow, this is still one of the best restaurants in New Zealand, it has been a long time between visits but everything is just as good as ever. The kitchen is now run by a chef born and breed in Nelson, with a history related to the original harburr lights store. All the food was well judged and a light and balanced touch is evident. This is a must visit.

B.In my opinion, Harbor Light deserves a higher ranking than it has in the Nelson area. The kitchen's main courses are exceptionally flavorful, tender and beautifully accompanied with veggies or salads. View of the harbor entrance from the upstairs dining area is spectacular.

N.We had a nice dinner here. My husband reserved a table via internet and requested for a table by the front window. We had a very nice view heading to the beach and ocean but you must go there around 6pm to enjoy the view. Or else, it will be too dark to see things. Food was good. I loved bruchetta here and caesar salad with blackened fish. Lamb was delicious. Bread was homemade and delicious. Pumpkin and chickpea soup was awesome too. Duck confit was ok.
