Good menu, great staff, awesome venue. Loved sitting outside in the fine weather overlooking the river and gardens. The Eggs Royale breakfast was delicious too :-D

Good food, great view and ambiance.

Coffee was good. Popped in for an iced drink, showed the lady at the counter my vaccine pass before ordering. While I was waiting for my coffee another lady approached me asking if I'd entered from the gallery or if I joined a larger group, prior to asking me for my vaccine pass. I would've happily shown it again, if she'd asked me first, instead of confusing me with these questions.

So friendly & we had our choices welcomed & fined up as we sat !! Huge glass walls framing the ducks 'billing & cooing' in the pond Good coffee & food

From the interior design perspective, they choose plywood structure frame, natural timber Celling, floor & table, this nautical style matches the big open views of Queens Garden perfectly, seen through all the huge Celling to floor windows. See how to use black here. One black wall of kitchen is good background Color to highlight all the displays. Black lamp covers and table legs here 2. Cool place to come and enjoy all.

My favourite café! Great coffee, delicious food and lovely staff. Very peaceful, picturesque place to visit.

A wonderful place looking out over the Queen's Gardens, great choice of food and happy staff, (including one you won't forget nor she you). Bonus is the Suter Art Gallery is all part of this place, always interesting.

We went to this cafe twice during our 3 days Nelson trip. food quality is slightly better than average. service is even better the best part of cafe is the dinning environment. you can enjoy the small lake view of Queen's garden. very comfortable to enjoy cafe or meal outside of this cafe.

Havent been here for a while but the service & food is still excellent. Beautiful outlook over the Queens Gardens pond in any weather.

Lovely situation & views & great food & coffee.

Food and coffee were fantastic. This is a very cute, light and airy cafe with views overlooking the river and the gardens. Staff were lovely! Highly recommend the risotto ball, it was absolutely delicious. Came back again the next day as I enjoyed it so much.

Nice lunch at the Suter Gallery enhanced by the outlook over the park plus ability to browse through the art and ceramics in the Gallery. Nice way to spend a couple of hours.

While staff friendly enough we were completly forgotten about couple of times which left poor overall experience. Hate when others arriving after you get served first. Walked in and advised to take a seat and order will be taken, we wouldve lived to have ordered immediatly at the counter as knew what we wanted - took a seat and waited and waited. Could see couple other groups that were seated AFTER us getting their orders so had to track someone down. Coffee order in, waited a bit more, another larger group came sat next to us, they got order taken then their Coffees & food were delivered. We then got our slice & scone (good so no complaints there but we've had better) this was all finished and plates cleared before drinks finally arrived (remember other coffee orders had been prioritised ahead of us) Finally when coffee order came, we asked for water as well, only to be told we had to go get it ourselves and location pointed out, mightve been good to know this when we were first told to be seated as turns out we'd walked right past out. I really want to like this place but they need to sort their service out.

A fantastic view of the queen's gardens! Delicious coffee and salad, and most importantly, a professional FOH service is perfect for starting a day.

I am always impressed with this place. Superb food and exquisite location offering a choice of outdoor and indoor dining. Outdoors overlooks the lovely Queens Gardens. The Lamb and Mint pie was perfection as was the side order of beetroot salad.

Arrived 2.30pm and greeted by happy staff. Cabinet food was finished but some food was still available from blackboard. Meal was delicious. Great location looking over The Queens Garden.

Best flat white and cheese scones ever! Staff friendly and super efficient. Beautiful setting .. and wonderful opportunity to check out Suter exhibitions or buy gorgeous things in the gallery shop

We have long thought this cafe is by far the best in Nelson and lunch today just proved it. The lady in charge is astonishingly good - found us a table for 3 without a problem despite being almost full and was so pleasant and engaging. Food was great and service excellent. The setting is an added bonus. Highly recommended - we will be back soon.

Fantastic food the owner is colourful and friendly. Home cooked food. Very popular and part of a museum and right by the Huangshe Chinese gardens. 3 in one experience. You only pay for the food :-)

Came from Auckland for a few days wanted to find a great coffee and good Cafe, happy to say this place is must if you visit Nelson. Set on the edge of beautiful gardens, it’s modern friendly staff, great coffee and a very good menu with plenty of choices. Four of us visited and we are all very fussy about getting good coffee everyone was happy. Would definitely go back

Edit: back again on a lovely summer's day. Staff are lovely/accomodating even in times of COVID. The food was lovely too. My rating reflects this current state! Edit 2: My beloved was stokes to see that they had hooks for handbags underneath the tables too First time back in a long time. Renovations look good. Food looked fine. Got the distinct impression some of the staff really didn't want to be there... Still.. it's been a while now and I'm sure that will have changed.

The coffee taste good and the food too..just medium size coffee lil bit small i think than normal medium coffee i jad at other cafe..but overall is good and ✔ highly recommended to return here😊

We came for the art, but the cafe was a gem. The best bit about it is the huge picture window into Queens Gardens. Sip slowly so you can stay longer. This would be a great place to sit on a rainy day.

Only ended up having drinks here but had a great time and such nice views if you sit out on the deck. I ended up having an iced chocolate which was made with ice cream and what tasted like chocolate chips, delicious! The staff were really accommodating and found us a table really quickly, they were great at managing the large number of people coming through the doors.

Such a chill vibe. I went super early in the morning just after they opened. Got a seat in the back and looked at the plants. So chill. I had a coffee and smashed avo on toast. Delicious. Coffee was well made also.

The waitress greeted us as a hostess; so welcoming and kind explaining how to order! The food was fresh and delicious. We had a lamb pie, green salad, fish chowder, beetroot salad, & tea. All for $35 (US) and with a beautiful view of the Queen's Garden!

Excellent cafe, attached to the Suter Art Gallery. Try their lamb and spinach pie. If the first one hadn't filled me up I would have been tempted to have a second one! Fabulously delicious. I followed up with a carrot cake, again delicious! And finished with a perfect mochachino. The staff were delightful and we enjoyed a few laughs with them. They were happy to recommend items from the menu. Food was nicely presented and it was delightful to sit on the terrace overlooking the Queen's Gardens lake and the beautiful park, complete with a very friendly waka that came scavenging for a snack, not at a nervous about the diners. A wonderful dining experience in a lovely setting.

Gorgeous setting minus the sand flies. Had bruch roll. Bacon egg dry roll and several pieces of green stuff. Careless serving no flavour apart from the bacon. Nothing extra here. Poor chef. Do not recommend.

Lovely place for coffee fantastic food selection and great service

We were visiting Nelson gardens and stopped for a coffee here. The cafe is a large size and has good food and coffee. My partner knocked her coffee and spilled most of it and they came and cleaned it up and were nice enough to insist on remaking her coffee.

Great vibes. Had an awesome mixed berry smoothie. Coffee is OK, not great but fine. Love the space & the staff are super friendly.

The view, the people, the food - all 5 star. I had eggs Benedict and my sister had waffles both fresh and yum! Great coffee too. Love this spot right in the gardens.

Food was ok but over-priced. Don't bother emailing them with any questions about menu as they don't respond to emails and just shrugged this off when mentioned. Lovely outlook over the river a d Queens Gardens .

Love this cafe, the staff are friendly and interesting. The food is delicious and they play good music. I highly recommend the Marsala Mushrooms.

One of the most beautiful cafes I've been in in NZ.... Good coffee...great start. Choose what you want from the food cabinet and they make it fresh for you. Awesome views of the lake one way and contemporary NZ art the other. This place is special!!!! Highly recommended if in Nelson

What a fab place to sit with friends, enjoying the atmosphere inside and outside. The staff are wonderful, genuinely friendly and helpful. Loved the customer service, especially the nice mature lady🌻 (only way I could say this to distinguish her from the 'youngens' in case she reads this! ) on the counter, what a gem! Delicious food, great coffee, a real pleasure to visit. Afterwards or before enjoy a visit to the Suter Gallery, a great way to spend away some time. Totally impressed!

Wonderful cafe and location. Poor staff have to put up with a hostess who yells at them in front of the customers when they are doing a perfectly good job. She holds up the queue with all her instructions. Otherwise, overall great place.

Because I liked it so much, my husband and I spent morning tea here, went to Nelson City for a stroll, and returned for lunch at noon. I couldn't help but went for a short walk in the park next to me. If you don’t have to continue the journey in the afternoon, I really want to wait until after the afternoon tea before leaving, haha😄.
