The rates didn't lie! The interior decoration was dainty and cute. The staff were heartwarming. And the food was great. Haven't tried the desserts yet so I am looking forward to visiting the place again.

As a person who enjoys and reviews food ... This place did not disappoint... I've ordered a Sweet French toast and it was indeed sweet... As you can see the plate was beautiful and filled with sugary goodness ...I wasn't able to finish my plate because of all the sugar but it didn't bother me as the dish was tasty...you get what you pay for...the toast was soft as butter... The brulee banana was really good and the crème anglaise(wasn't sweet) and bacon brought a good balance to the dish... Only critique will be that I didn't enjoy the brown sugar in the dish as it broke the balance at times ... The place was aesthetically pleasing and the staff was friendly...the order came out really quick too...I've ordered at 12.05 and recieved it by 12.20 which is pretty quick... I'd definitely come back to try other menu items and would recommend this place to anyone...they got a simple yet filling menu... Keep up the good work guys....see y'all soon... Great food 😋 and top notch service. Big portion sizes too - they will get you started and we'll sorted until lunch. Speaking of lunch the cabinet has a great array of food on offer. Coffee is fab as well. I always come here when I get through to New Plymouth as they're just the best place for breakfast.

me and a friend went to get coffee from the takeaway store this morning to try warm up from the rain. we were served by an incredibly sweet french woman who complimented my friends scarf (they're still happy about it an hour later) and was one of the friendliest cafe staff i've ever interacted with. our drinks were some of the best i've ever had, and i made the mistake of leaving my wallet there. another staff member, a woman with short blonde curly hair chased me down in the rain for over a block to return y wallet. i'm describing these two woman because they both deserve a raise, they made the entire experience so lovely and i'll 100% be coming back here

This is a cool spot in New Plymouth! The mushroom benedict was fantastic, the little kumara shreds were delicious! My huevos rancheros from the specials menu was not as spectacular but still good! Definitely more of a Mexican-inspired breakfast rather than huevos rancheros. The cabinet food, coffee and smoothies are also great!

Our delicious breakfast at The Federal Store was food for everyone's taste. I had ordered the smashed avocado with grainy bread, mushrooms and tomatoes, while my husband had chosen to order the big breakfast, while our kiddo enjoyed some fried chicken. The place was busy as always, full with people enjoying themselves. I loved the grains and nuts bread for avocado smash dish and also the eggs benedict dish from the menu is second to none!

Went to Federal Store for breakfast this morning. Service from lovely waitress Chesinay (apologise if spelt wrong) was first class and friendly. No porridge on menu but we asked if they could do old fashion porridge with brown sugar and cream and they did. Hubby loved it - best ever he reckons. Thanks Federal Store for gong extra mile. Will be back. 5 stars for sure

Fantastic decor, service with a smile all around, great flavours. Avocado Smash looked and tasted great. The tougher pot was fantastic, couldn’t get any ether - and that comes someone’s that knows good yogurt. I’d describe the whole experience as supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!!

This has to be one of the best cafes I have been to in quite some time. The staff were exceptional! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was awesome! I will definitely be going back and 100% recommend going here. They had a great variety of meals small and large. The coffee was splendid. Visited this cafe two days in a row on a recent stay in New Plymouth. First day breakfast was the Eggs Benedict with Bacon, bacon cooked just how I liked it, eggs were perfect. Taste was great and portion size was generous. Second day I got the ‘Fed Up’ breakfast. Again the meal was perfect and the portion size was massive I couldn’t eat it all, but I wanted to. Both days I got a coffee and both days the coffee was the great. I should have got one for the road!! I didn’t try the cabinet food but there was some tasty looking food in there that’s for sure. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Taranaki.

Very good food & good service. The only thing I can say is that it's popularity is it's Achilles heel. It gets very busy & rightly so, but very noisy with so many people. You can't blame the owners but maybe about 3 less tables! That opinion is not going to be popular with them but it's just my opinion.

Food was delicious, atmosphere great UNTIL one of the waitresses stopped myself and my friend from leaving because she thought we had not paid for 2x cakes we had consumed. I managed to get the waitress who served us to confirm YES we had paid but this young lady had such attitude on finding she was wrong did not even apologise. She let the whole Store down! I found the other staff fabulous and as an out of town tourist am loathe to ever recommend the place. If I had not been in a hurry I would have asked her name and for her manager! Shame on her!

Loved the food selection. Loved the service. Have eaten there 2x on a 3 night stay in New Plymouth. My only niggle being on the slightly larger side was the flow in and out. Maybe clear some of the non functional stuff around and under the counter would help. I don’t think that would detract from the ambiance at all and may benefit the friendly staff too.

Good gracious. This is the place to go for breakfast in New Plymouth. There is another we enjoy, called Chaos, but I would put this a half a notch above. We've gone on weekdays, and it was fabulous. The coffee was fantastic, and the breakfasts were to die for. I think the place can get pretty packed out on weekends. FYI, we tried to go there on a Monday morning as well. It's closed on Monday. A big miss on our part, no fault of them.

Fantastic food, and the french waitress that looked after us was a total star! Attentive, happy to help with changing up my french toast order to swap bacon for halloumi. Food was quick and the place was overall great, would absolutely return. A couple of unfortunate notes; bacon did end up in my french toast. I'm pretty relaxed about mistakes like this, but it would be really bad for anyone particularly hardline about their food being meat (or bacon!) free. Also, the maître d' was a total sourpuss. Hard to describe her other than being a brunette wearing a bandana (as most where for the uniform). Very unfriendly, and when I went to square up the bill she didn't even respond to my 'hi there'/'the food was lovely'/etc - just said '$53.70.' (or whatever the amount was) to me! No please, thank you - nothing! Really appalling treatment.

Great selection and everything is nice and fresh. Easily the best, stodgy, fudgy, delicious gluten free chocolate caramel brownie in town! Also they now have more gluten free treats including a strawberry lamington that my wife said was the best lamington she has ever tasted and she is almost 300yrs old so has tried quite a few!! Really nice thick shakes as well that are really thick.

Lots of takeaway coffee peops coming and going which is testimony to the Great coffee pour. Food is fresh and well presented.
