Absolutely loved this wee Cafe! We were looking for a kid friendly place where we could enjoy our coffee with a bit of peace... exactly what we found. A great space for kids to play, good range on the menu and in the cabinets, Staff were friendly, food was great and best of all awesome coffee just what we were looking for that went down a treat.

Great venue. Went here for a brunch with family was a great venue, staff were polite and professional and the food was amazing. Also, had a kids play area which our 1 year old loved. Made us as parents relax and engage in conversation with other adults.

This is definitely the place to be right now. The Locals is lekker. (South African lingo for saying something is great). From the time it opened it has been an extremely popular cafe. It is always busy and bustling with happy customers and friendly staff. The food is delicious and there is a great variety of cabinet food and food from the menu. The deserts and cakes/ muffins/ slices are melt in the mouth. Today I tasted the most delectable berry cheesecake. During the week a friend ordered the mint slice and in her opinion it was the most perfect she had ever tasted. The staff are efficient, friendly and fast. The decor is simple as are the chairs and tables. It feels like being in one's own home. It is children friendly with two areas for busy, little ones. There's seating inside and outside and today's lovely weather meant there were a great many people outside. The other advantage of the Locals Cafe is the free and plentiful parking. If you visit one cafe this year make it Locals.

Great vibe here and the food is delicious. The cafe is quite big with plenty of space and toys for kids. Bit of confusion with our order (we had 9 plus a toddler) but the staff were really friendly and sorted everything pronto.

This is a great cafe with great customer service! It’s spacious so can hold a lot of people as well as a few out door tables for you and your dog to enjoy! As all places do they have forgotten about me once, however, was well compensated once they realised... asides from that good food for a reasonable price and portioned perfectly.

Very accessible to cater for disability, wheelchair friendly. Place is often busy, so would reccomend coming early or you will not get a table. Have been here a few times and when really busy they have run out of menu items. Cabinet food looks delicious and they have a good range of items that also cater for different diets eg gluten free. Food can take awhile when busy, but is prepared well and is always delicious.

A spacious cafe with plenty of seating options inside and out (we sat outside but wouldn't recommend this option until the adjacent building project has been completed, as it was quite noisy). We enjoyed some of the delicious cabinet food for lunch but there are also menu options to choose from. The prices are good, as is the coffee and the service is efficient and friendly. 👍

So much wonderful food to choose from on the menu it was hard to decide what to order. 7 of us there for lunch & we were all delighted with the service & the delicious meals we had. Will definitely visit here again soon.

Locals is a busy cafe with plenty of room and tables, staff friendly and helpful, no long wait for food and try their fries! Delicious 😋! Good coffee too! But be aware it can be noisey as it is large and wooden floors make it echo! 😊

Great coffee, great food, and great service. Well known for their cinnamon scrolls which are divine 😋 What I love about Locals is they’re family friendly. They have an activity board and a big blackboard where toddlers and young children can have fun. I can’t think of another cafe in NP that has this. Locals is definitely our local 😊

Great place, Spacious, Great Flat White. A lil wait on hot drinks but thats to be expected at such a popular place. Other places would take longer. This is an organised cafe with friendly staff. Amazing Cheese and Herb (Rosemary) Scone!!

Coffee was fine but we ordered one small one medium and got 2 small. Were told they were both the same price no offer to change one for the medium one we ordered. Also dislike a public holiday surcharge which was made very clear with signage.

I love to visit this place with my family. I am so happy that there is a space next to the table where children can play so that the meal is not disturbed. Not to mention food and coffee. It's best.

Excellent 'local' cafe. We enjoyed the breakfast and lunch choices available and kids are well catered for. The large open plan layout gives you many seating options inside and out. Large groups were easily seated and there was a happy, busy hum to the room. Food and drinks arrived in good time.

If you are a celiac be sure to ask if some things are cooked in the same fryer or not when ordering gf food , because they don't ask if you are celiac, other wise the food looked ok and the coffee and slice was nice

Spacious cafe with ample parking and nice ambience. Good selection and quality of food. All cakes etc baked on site. Like that you can get half size of eggs Benedict, which was delicious and filling. Have visited frequently past week. Popular cafe and can be busy in weekends and peak lunch times. Good hot coffees and friendly staff.

Locals Cafe is my favorite cafe in New Plymouth. The atmosphere is always relaxing & fun. All staff are approachable, pleasant to be around, & the customer service is very good. The Coffee & all the food especially the baking is amazing. Sometimes on your day off it is hard to find a place to relax and unwind, well Locals is the place!!!!

Best Eggs Benedict in town. Sometimes feels like it is a victim of its own success and that means the wait times can be really long. Coffee goes from okay to really good, so not always consistent. Overall though really good spot.

Great Cafe. Really nice cabinet food and a good breakfast and lunch menu with something for everyone. New holder of "Steves best brownie in town" award. Yum! Update..the brownies just got bigger so are even better now!!! Further Update...Brownies have shrunk considerably and are nowhere near the best in town anymore...shame! Nice coffee though. Large cafe with all types of seating (inside and out) and a kids area as well plus plenty of parking.

Used to come to this place all the time and LOVED it. However the last three times I’ve been, I’ve been quite disappointed. Have given a 3* because there cabinet food is really good :) They are very inconsistent with timing, as in, a person at the table can receive a meal more or less straight away and almost 10 mins later the coffee will come and the cabinet food too. Last time I came I have the chicken sandwich, which was drenched in cranberry sauce! I love cranberry but this was very over the top where it was inedible.

Eggs benedict are the best. Great coffee and friendly staff. Can be very busy at peak times but plenty of tables. Cabinet food selection changes regularly and keeps getting better and better. They have recently added a selection of smaller cakes if you don't have room for a regular (large) cake or slice. You can even bring your dog to the outdoor area if you wish.

I went for brunch on Saturday and had to wait 50 minutes for my food to be brought to me. I reminded the wait staff on three occasions that I was still waiting and they apologised but did not return to update me on progress. Normally I love the service and efficient delivery of food but Saturday's experience was a complete disappointment.

Built in the old Woolworth's building Locals Cafe makes nice coffee but I found the cabinet food overpriced. It's also really noisy at times, so it's not a place you can relax with a book or have an intimate conversation.

I think it’s tinned salmon on the eggs benidict, not 100 sure. That’s not a good look for fussy people. Otherwise, was brought here by whanau for a feed, & it was pretty choice as a family spot. Crazy busy though, the line could push through a bit faster. But when your from the city, you can be pretty judgemental about small town/city cafes, so it was cool. Would go again. Cheers.
