O.This cafe has no competition in the vicinity! Situated on Barrett Road, The Backyard Cafe is loved by local residents and those who know their secret location. I have ordered duck croquettes with fennel and mandarin salad, wasabi mayo on a side. The dish was very elegant! Like a perfect affair, it was enough to tame the appetite but not enough to get bored. My husband had ordered their breakfast, which was also light, but nutritious. Extra points for a superb coffee: truly hot in those cool winter days. #duckcroquettes #lunch #cafe #taranaki

M.First time there today as we are here for Americana. Lovely atmosphere, very clean and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Great menu with a good selection. I had the grilled chicken and bacon salad which was absolutely delicious, my husband loved his waffles, and my sister and brother in law had Eggs Benedict ! Great meals all round with compliments to the chef David Pool! Definitely recommend and hope to go back before we leave New Plymouth.
