This is my local go to place for my breakfast! I absolutely love the friendly staff and upbeat atmosphere. The food is to die for and a full cooked breakfast always comes out really quick which I love. You can't beat the view from the windows as you are literally perched on the beach looking out to Oamaru harbour and all the gorgeous boats bobbing around in the sun sparkled water. It's just splendid. I highly recommend to all!

Excellent eatery with habour views centrally located by Holmes Wharf, and the marine parade. Good selection of cabinet food, and breakfast/lunch menu items. Surcharge applies to credit card/paywave payments which is always disappointing to see in cafes, otherwise a great place to visit.

Food was excellent! Especially the chips, I couldn't get enough of them. Astounding view out into the harbor, with the interior being just as pretty. Prices are very reasonable and you get what you're paying for (meals are very generous). The Galley is a great place to have some tasty lunch or perhaps just a coffee - they have some of the best in town.

Fantastic food that really can't be faulted but service can be iffy because they are so incredibly busy. I've had brilliant coffee here, but on my most recent visit upset the barista by inadvertently standing in her pathway, receiving a mumbled curse to the tune of wtaf. My coffee was slammed onto the table, slopping some out, and sadly was up there with the worst coffees ever. Their cake selection is always huge and delicious, and everything offered is exactly at you'd expect it to be, crunchy fries, perfectly cooked eggs (whoever poaches those eggs is a star), and burgers you often dream of. Just make sure you're super smiley and friendly to the staff, don't stand in anyone's way, and enjoy the view!

I'm glad this cafe is open again. The food and coffee is good and reasonably priced. We enjoy sitting at the window to stare at the harbour and yachts with the turquoise colored water.

Not as old a place as the rusty exterior suggests. Definitely the closest you can get to the water in Oamaru. The food selections are good. Service is usually fast. Coffee is always great. On a fine day with the tides in, windows open and waves crashing out on the breakwater. It's one of the best places to be. The only real disappointments are sometimes it's too damn busy and you can't get a seat. But also they (unlike most places) don't give you cutlery with the food. Instead they leave the knives and forks etc standing end up in tins on the table - which means the cutlery you're eating with is probably full of whatever viruses and such that others have coughed or exhaled into the air before you use them. I and others have caught colds from eating here but not from eating anywhere else here. Coincidence? I, 100 percent, reckon not. Of course, your mileage (or illness) may vary. And because "forewarned is forearmed." Maybe in these 'rona affected times simply try asking for fresh cutlery instead of using the ones on the table. So they get the hint, or even just bring your own.

The seafood chowder was sadly lacking unfortunately. Quantity over quality and one of the gelatinous type you could practically stand your spoon up in. Even thinning it down with some wine could not improve it, the flavours just weren't there. Great location overlooking the wee sandy beach though which counts for a star in itself

Really nice place, went with a group of people for lunch and even though it was busy we were served fast and our meals came out quick. All meals were really good and filling and at a reasonable price. You can sit looking out over the inlet, where there is a small beach depending on tide and some boats moored. Also if you are there at the right time you can see the steam train running in the distance and windows open right up on a nice day like today. Would come back again for a meal.

What a deal! Some places make u feel like you're paying for the view/location as much as you are paying for the meal size or quality of ingredients. The Galley serves massive feeds, stunning flavors and a sweet view of the sea. I always eat here if visiting Oamaru and hosting guests from overseas... it's a great example of Kiwi hospitality. The staff are so friendly and parking is stress free... there's a massive playground and of course the beach so youre kids won't annoy you while you wait for the food!

My family have always struggled to find a nice place for lunch when passing through Oamaru. Instead of just looking from the Main Street Trip Adviser suggested this cafe. It is PERFECT! Caters for kids as well as adults for both food and fun. Lovely setting too - couldn't fault it. Well done management!

Cool, unique building in a lovely setting right near the sea with a great view. Not far from the central business district of Oamaru and play grounds. Friendly, polite staff with efficient service caring about the time your order takes to get to you. Food is delicious with a good menu and choices, special daily options and reasonable prices. Clean and tidy toilet facilities on site. Worth a visit when in Oamaru.

If you drop this city Oamaru, you should go to this restaurant. It is a restaurant in the town called Oamaru who stopped by on the way to Dukkapo from Dunedin. Chowder I requested was very delicious, and the view from the shop was also great like a movie. (Original) This is a wonderful restaurant. We dropped this place on the way to Tekapo from Dunedin. Well here is beyond our expectations. We ordered clam chowder. It tastes fantastic. The view from here is also special. If you drop this city Oamaru, you should go to this restaurant. ダニーデンからテカポに移動する途中に立ち寄ったオアマルという街にあるレストランです。 頼んだチャウダーはとても美味しく、またお店からの景色も映画のようで素晴らしかったです。
