B.Had lunch here, not knowing anything about it. The food was amazing, a great balance of tasty and quality! The view was pretty good too. Will definitely come back.
P.After a visit during the week to enjoy their pizzas, we decided to make the 50min drive from Waihi Beach with the rest of our family especially for a pizza take away on the beach, but we're told they couldn't do take away until 7pm ☹️ We had young children with us, and we're unable to wait that long. Very disappointed
M.Been here twice now for lunchtime pizzas. Lovely genuine Italian pizzas available gluten free too. Good coffee. Going back for a special anniversary dinner there next week, planning to share a whole roast shoulder of lamb. Yum
C.Had an amazing dinner there! The food is delicious and the owners wonderful. All 5 of us raved about our dishes, ranging from pizzas to king prawns to goat stew. How lucky to have this superb restaurant so close to home.
W.Omokroa, Great coffee and Date scones in the morning. Stunning views from the upstairs cafè overlooking the harbour and views of the Barge. Nice park for the kids and little walks along the shore.

C.Omokoroa has two restaurants/ cafe with sea views and Alma is one. The other is The Boatclub, a minute’s walk away next to the wharf, whose head chef ironically was the founder of Alma’s originally, then called The Esplanade. If you can book a table on the balcony at Alma, then this eatery might be worth a try. It’s very entertaining watching people launching their boats, fishing on the wharf etc.
There is really only one vegetarian main, Eggplant Parmigiana. No market fish dish despite its seaside proximity. The Eggplant Parmigiana is served on its own in a mid sized bowl and is priced at $32. We found it overly sweet and lacking in flavour. The garden salad we ordered comprised rocket leaves, Parmesan cheese and a few cherry tomatoes.
The tiramisu dessert was delicious. The dark chocolate mousse with coulis and strawberries was not. It had a peculiar after taste as if it contained condensed milk. The colour and flavour were not consistent with the use of quality dark chocolate.
The maître d was full of bonhomie and checked customers were enjoying their meals. Seating is fairly close so not the place for an intimate dinner for two.
As we’ve now eaten the only option for vegetarians and didn’t enjoy it, we won’t be rushing back. If in the area I would try Montre d’atelier (next to FreshChoice supermarket, no sea views). Takeout pizza options are plentiful too.
D.Had lunch there yesterday with my wife. Pizza was amazing. Great crust (among the best I've come across in NZ) and perfect blend of flavours from cheese, toppings, and sauce. We'll definitely visit again!

F.always leave Alma Eatery nourished with flavours, beautiful coffee, amazing views and exceptional staff. The team always work their hardest to deliver the best experience possible. and with views like they have from all corners of the cafe, how could one not be satisfied leaving. come by boat or come by car they are in the prime position, compliments to the chef/owners for a stunning menu. Excited to go back and try the new to come Italian evenings they will be offering!
L.The dishes and menu at Alma are delicious. Very fast & high quality service from the Team. Highly recommend going to Ōmokoroa to this restaurant and if you live local you have an awesome place to go on the waterfront if you feel like some yum Italian dishes.
S.Renamed, revamped, new menu, new staff... Nice ambience and views over the water and park. Altogether a pleasant lunch and dining experience. We're likely to return to try their dinner menu😉

S.Enjoyed a wonderful lunch here yesterday. Three of us opted for the avocado vegan dish which was very substantial and most tasty. One of us chose a pork/beef burger which was delicious and very filling. Coffees were good, service was excellent and the staff friendly and accommodating. Well done Alma cafe!

H.I have been to Alma's twice this week, once in a group of 25 bike riders on a mid-week morning and on ANZAC day, as a bit of a treat late lunch. Mid-week, the team were great at wheeling out multiple orders of coffee and tea and lots of counter food in a very efficient manner - coffee excellent and counter food delicious, all the while also attending to their other customers. Today, we treated ourselves to salmon quiche, fabulous spicy Alma's chicken and for dessert, a particularly scrumptious mandarin custard pie. Alma's is a great addition to the suburb's eating options, has great views and very good food and friendly efficient staff. An extensive menu and lots of counter options will not disappoint. Well worth a visit
