Brilliant cafe to visit. Fantastic food, relaxed atmosphere with beautiful surroundings to just watch the world go by. You order in the bus and can sit in the cabins dotted around the garden or sit outside in various areas of the garden. Lots to look at and discover, the kids will love it.
M.
Relaxed outside eating café. Order and pay upfront in the bus. Leave your name and your order is brought by someone calling your name. You can also have your dogs watch you eat.
S.
A quickly little cafe that you have to know about to find. Easy to miss even if you're looking for it as it's off a side road & behind a big hedge. A tucked away little gem that I'd imagine on a warm summer day would be blissful. Quirky art around the property & an interesting little walk with lots to see. Nice food too all served out off a converted old bus. Quirky little seating areas make for a really interesting cafe stop. Go & discover it for yourself, it's definitely not your average cafe.
M.
Great little café in the middle of nowhere by Te Horo beach
on the Kapiti Coast. Set in an old bus, extensive seating in a garden setting. Great little menu and coffee. Well worth the visit. Only open 3 days a week, and be ready to stand in a queue to order. 😎
F.
Second time to this quaint cafe. Funnily enough all three in our group ordered the same sandwich. Delicious ham and cheese toasted. My iced chocolate was incredible, great combination of cream and ice cream with a flourish of marsh mellows. Don't forget the doughnuts, the trip would be worth it just for these succulent morsels. How do they get so much cream inside them. Just amazing.
If there is one thing that we all enjoyed about the Bus Stop, is the casual atmosphere, how people just stroll in with their dogs (practicing social distancing and sign in rules). The layout of the seating areas gives everyone space and privacy. It is just a delightful surrounding.
Thanks ladies, will call again.
J.
Almost a victim of its own success! It gets busy! Such a beautiful cafe in the middle of nowhere. A lovely venue to sit and chat and enjoy the outdoors. Nice simple tasty food and delicious coffee. I recommend heading out off the beaten track track giving it a whirl! All aboard!
D.
Beautiful gardens, great food & amazing & relaxing atmosphere. Group of us ladies went today & sure we will return. Thank you. Recommend this amazing Cafe
M.
Such a lovely, unique place to have coffee, lunch and great conversation. Loved walking onto the bus to place my order and then sitting down outside at one of the many tables that are scattered around the property. Truly a one of a kind place. Loved it
R.
A great location with nooks and crannies to get lost in. The food is homemade. Try it all! Traditional kiwi fayre. Mince and cheese pies. Fish cakes. Oh the baking!
Plan to exercise after a visit 😋
S.
So casual, so relaxing, so creative! You can feel good energy vibes everywhere. Oh and the food and coffee are just great!
k.
A must visit in Te horo! A cute wee coffee/craft shop in a beautiful garden setting. The cafe is in a bus and you can choose to sit in a few different cosy buildings or outside under the umbrellas. Lots of lovely preserves for sale too. Serves a few hot dishes, and lots of little sweet treats.
C.
Cute and rustic cafe with great food and a wonderful vibe
C.
Delightful local secret! The cafe has a lovely open and relaxed outdoor area for when the sun is shining, and some roomy indoor spaces for when it isn't. The coffee is good and the food is excellent. We had the meatball sub (could not recommend more) and a curry bread thing (also delicious). Dog friendly ,and in a sheltered quiet spot. Well worth the detour!
P.
What a pleasant surprise. The Bus Stop is so much more. You park by the entrance and walk through the garden. This opens into numerous seating areas, outdoors or covered. The kitchen is in an old bus and has a charm of its own. A good coffee and items from the menu, all cooked on site. A desire to recycle also shows the ethical credentials of this place. So worth a detour off the SH1.
S.
A perfect place to stop and take a load off. Great service and very fresh food. Take some spare change to buy $2 plants!
J.
Worth the drive. Such a good feeling, walking the path into TeHoro bliss.
Quite time while we were here, but I believe it gets busy.
Great coffee, homemade lemonade and treats. All made in the 🚌 ❤️
K.
Lovely quirky place with nice food and drinks and lots of visually interesting things to check out. Just be prepared to wait a while for for your food/drinks. We weren't in a hurry but I can imagine the wait might be hard for some.
C.
Wonderful experience dining here! Not only is the food delicious but we really enjoyed walking around & finding different spaces to dine with different little features everywhere. Staff are soo pleasant & made us feel so comfortable. An unforgettable experience! This place gets busy & we definitely understand why!

Def coming back with friends. Brenda McDonald

We weren't expecting too much from this visit. All up we thought the bus stop cafe was great. The coffee was delightful and all the sweet treats were delicious and very much enjoyed. Quite a long wait for the hot drinks but that wasn't an issue because of the incredible communication and great service.
g.
Such a fun rustic ambience. Delish food and awesome ladies looking after you. Highly recommend 🦋

Great lovely place, biked up the beach from Paraparaumu. Great place to stop for a break. Food looked amazing and the place was awesome
P.
Friendly , lovely environment, open space with loads of character ... highly recommend this hidden treasure
D.
Beautiful, inspiring, creative location with amazing service. Well worth a visit for every person young or old. It also has small hand crafted items for sale and small seedlings who look beautifully nourished. Go with plenty of time to spare so you can soak it all in.
I.
Lovely spot to stop, check out the local artwork, get quality simple tasty food and good coffee
L.
Gorgeous hideaway in the middle of nowhere! Good coffee, great food and an amazing team make this the best kept secret on the coast.
M.
What a lovely setting, food may be basic but so well done. Delicious
W.
A peaceful green oasis in the middle of nowhere where an old bus serves as the kitchen and servery. Lots of unique little areas both in the shade and out in the bright sunshine cover the whole gamut of pleasurable and comfortable seating. Fare is basic but tasty and the coffee is good. Can't believe I've never been here before.
R.
If you’re passing through Te Horo on a good day, you have to stop here. This hidden away gem is one of the best cafes on the coast. An affordable menu with unique items that change frequently. Along with a great grassy outdoor seating that is great for the whole family. Food, service and ambience are all 5 stars.
A.
Great spot for a drink and a nibble. Loved the element of adventure and discovery, and how suited it was for kids and preschoolers to enjoy without disturbing other patrons too much. Thank you! I look forward to returning sometime soon.
c.
Such a cool place definetly recommend a visit on a sunny day! Yummy cake too!
J.
Always great here. Easy parking. Food is spectacular. Staff, welcoming and helpful. Garden, relaxed and comfortable. They recycle and reuse too!!!
J.
Amazing atmosphere they have created here. lots of little corners to hideaway, different rooms to sit in, different parts of the garden, with cute little ornaments and themes.
it was great to go there with our young kids and the food was really nice, although modest in size, but that is also reflected in the reasonable prices.
the only frustration of the day was the 20 minutes queuing inside the very hot bus, just to place the order
M.
This place is set in a beautiful bush setting with lots of different seating areas available. Lovely friendly staff and absolutely divine food. Definitely recommend coming here.
P.
What a great, quirky place! Excellent for a coffee and snack or lunch in such relaxing and unique surroundings. Make sure you get in early to avoid selling out of food (we had to order whatever was left as most items sold out)
W.
Such a lovely setting! Very friendly people, amazing creative decorations, cute flowers and plants to buy. Had a great coffee and pie. Great road trip destination from Wellington
K.
Super quirky appealing place. Initial coffee order took way too long but luckily, we weren't in a hurry. Food full of flavour. Some form of table numbers would make the staff's job easier rather than have them wander around calling names... especially for those with hearing disabilities!
J.
Really quaint atmosphere, definitely go back again. Loved the fact we can take dogs there on a lead. 1.30pm and they were running out of food, so go early rather than later if you want lunch which isn't full on meals. Snacks like toasted sandwiches, soup etc. Yummy baking if you just want a coffee and cake or treat.

BUS STOP CAFE
55 Sims Rd, Te Horo Beach, Otaki 5581
A very unique and fantastic experience. If you want to try somewhere very different then this is definitely the place to come. Great coffee, homemade food (on the bus) and lovely staff.
As a cafe owner myself, these guys have got it right. Recycling is important. Once again 10/10
Well done and definitely will be back.
L.
Very quirky little cafe with a great atmosphere. It's nestled in the bush, and can get busy, but when we got there before 4 on a saturday we had the place to ourselves. The staff were very enthusiastic and friendly, and the food was great too.
R.

Awesome spot and food. Just a bit disappointed how long it took to get a coffee. It wasnt busy but 20mins in line then another 20 odd mins waiting.
K.
Excellent as always. Our visitors were delighted and plan to revisit. Excellent food and great setting.
B.
A unique country/coastal experience with great coffee, relaxed and friendly outdoor and indoor space, kids can run free, dog friendly and delicious home crafted cafe food prepared by Kirsty Green. The cafe has the wow factor and great for impressing visitors.
C.
Just 5 mins from the main road is Te Horos best kept secret. From the carpark you are lead down a path to a tranquil setting.
Stepping into the old bus you are surrounded by books and crafts and this is where you order.
A selection of cabinet food and menu. All freshly cooked on board the food bus by a wonderful crew.
Focusing on sustainability serving ware is recycled including cups.Coffee is Supreme and The barista does it justice.
The food is amazing and at a good price.Try the coriander and falafel.
Crafts and preserves are for sale and their gongs sell like hot cakes.
Choose your seating from a summer house to a rear end of a bus.
Dogs are welcome and there is plenty of room for children to run around.
They are closed from 20 Dec to 10 Jan.
S.
So cute, lovely atmosphere and nice food! Would have prefered if they didn't use single use plates although I think they had compostable/recyclable gear...may be worth bringing your own if you're own of you try to avoid waste 😊
E.
