Best cafe in Paihia! Great coffee and a fresh selection of food prepared daily. Friendly, relaxed vibe and a perfect location right beside the beach. The outdoor seating area is lovely and vibrant. Décor is cycling themed, which lends itself well to the chilled out vibe of the place and its staff. Do try the cinnamon buns! Also, the fresh salads are lovely — they’ll even combine salads for a lovely sampling. My ‘go to’ cafe!

Great little cafe down an alley. Lady boss was very nice and friendly. Food and coffee were great too. Lots of seating outside and the inside has plenty of local artists ware on display.

Omg! The best cinnamon buns ever!! Had to go back for another one! So happy they were vegan. There was also a delicious vegan pizza bread. I had a gingerbread latte which was on point. The lady serving on Tuesday was just lovely and I can't wait to come back! There is no menu but the cabinet food has quite the selection :).

I have only been in Paihia for about a month and this quaint little place is just perfect to unwind and have a great cup of coffee and a wonderful breakfast or snack. The couple running this place is lovely and very friendly. All their food and pastries are made fresh daily and really healthy. A great place to just have a good book or surfing the internet...

Awesome little coffee shop!! Delcious, quirky and simple. Cabinet food only - muffins and scones. My date scone was devine. Focus on doing the basics really well, which we appreciated. Very good coffee and food. Loved the vibe too. A little hard to find - down a lane. A sandwich board might help but we located in the end.

Third Wheel should come with a warning, once you find them, you may never go anywhere else! Honestly, I infrequently eat out for lunch but would find any excuse to be in Paihia just for a fix at this awesome cafe. Trust me, everything rocks. The food, the prices, the team and the coffee. Great supporters of local artists too, what's not to love.

A tad hard to find, not on the main street, but persevere because it’s sooooo worth it! Couldn’t find the first time I visited Paihia, google maps through me a curve ball, but I had more time to look today and lucky me, I found it! Great espresso made for the best iced latte and the cold caramel crunch was a real treat on this hot summer day. Really friendly staff serving quality treats with a smile. Loved the decor and local art for sale on the walls. Inside seating is a bit tight but there’s several tables outside. Now that I know where this gem is, cannot wait to go back and try more of the menu.

This is without a doubt one of the best coffeeshops I've ever frequented. I used to work in a pretty great independent coffeeshop, so I feel like this is very high praise indeed! Exceptional coffee and baked goods, really wonderful, kind staff, and beautiful seating both indoors and outdoors. The playlists are always on point, and the music is never too loud. I love how there's a real community vibe here, and it's clear that the owners are supportive of other local businesses in Paihia and the surrounding areas. Obviously Third Wheel is located in one of the most beautiful spots in New Zealand, so they have a head start, but I love that they are on a quiet little side street, so that the only traffic passing by is foot traffic--on sunny days I could sit and read or work outside and feel totally peaceful. We are headed south for a while, so today was my last visit! I'm going to miss the food and the vibe, for sure! The only thing that makes me sad about this place is that my work schedule didn't allow me to spend more time here (though the takeaway service is also awesome, and sometimes I'd come into town just to pick up a coffee and a cinnamon bun!). Thank you so much to the staff and the owners! You deserve all the success and then some!

For coffee lovers, this is the best cafe in the area, if not all of Northland. People drive from Kerikeri just for a well made brew or specialty coffee. They stock all the non-dairy milk and even Macadamia nut milk. There is a decent amount of seating indoors and outdoors with a cheerful and sustainable decor. All cabinet food is made in house and looked good. No classic eggs benedict as the kitchen is more set up for making the cabinet food. They have baked goods made fresh each morning. Multiple coffee bean blends to suit the style of coffee, including decaf and also a single origin on the go and cold brew in summer. The owners and staff are serious about good coffee.

Quite simply the best cafe in Paihia. Hidden behind Green's restaurant, this places offers both amazing coffee and the best cabinet food for miles. There's a nice area outside where you can relax with your dog and enjoy your meal.

Wow. Coffee was great, maybe the best I've had. No menu here, just a very delicious selection of muffins, scones etc. Friendly welcoming service. Would rate this place 6 out of 5 if I could. Only downside is that google maps has its location wrong...hardly something the cafe can easily rectify.

The hustle and bustle of this cafe just back from the main road in central Paihia, is testament to it's popularity. After an excellent flat white and some delicious vegetarian fare, it is no wonder.
