Took me a while to go here as there was nothing on the menu that stood out to me, but was curious about it as there had recently been a change of ownership. Though nothing too out of the norm, the fried chicken and Turkish pizza (more like a bread) were so good!! The food was great and service fine, but I was most impressed with the decor. It really felt like you were in a whole different country being inside of Aqaba, everything was very authentic and so nice to be in. It was quite busy for lunchtime which is rare for Palmerston so that must mean they're doing pretty good so far. Highly recommend!

March2021: L2 so table distancing applied. The setting was good, but the lighting no so for some of us. A lovely gathering of a mixed age group. A variety of dishes ordered. The Pork was a hit. The Gnocchi with veggies, not so. Looking fresh, light and crisp, the gnocchi turned out to be very oily and more like a potato mash croquettes. The salad also doused in oil. The fish dish also a let down, oily on the outside, dry fish inside. We were there celebrating, and the food, even though disappointing for some, was edible. Service was great, thank you for looking after us.

It a long time since I dined at the Aqaba. Almost 10 years ago on an amputees groups outing. For me a late luncheon on one's own is most satisfying. A tasty coffee and some nice food. The Aqaba is Wheelchair accessible from the back carpark into the Aqaba. Wheelchair accessible toliet facilities. Service was great and the staff made you feel completely at home. Beautiful decor. Relaxing atmosphere. Amazing warm smiles. Food was num num nom . Pork belly and desert was Baked cheese cake with fruit sauce. It was so delicious I sent my compliments back to the self. I thoroughly enjoyed my time to myself and the service from the staff. Top marks Aqaba. A great dining experience. AA+++

Dropped in for a late lunch on the 29th Dec. This has always been a fairly popular place for us, as it always has something to please everyone. It has been a few years since we last ate here, but it seems to be pretty much the same. Menu still has a good range of offerings, which are served nicely. Family and friends enjoyed the fries, pancakes, a scallop salad and pulled pork sliders. My sweet potato fries were a bit disappointing as they were pretty soggy and I could only eat half of them. They can be a bit tricky to get just right as they burn easily, and go limp quickly if left for too long after frying. McCains do an outstanding sweet potato wedge, which is a hundred times better as a product, and spoil it for every other sweet potato fry after you tried them. It was very long wait for lunch, and felt longer than the 30 mins we were warned about. Possibly a bit short handed in the kitchen due to the holiday period? Overall, a 3.5 out of 5.

We went here last night for dinner after coming up from Wellington as we had an appointment at 7pm.asked the staff if it was possible to have dinner fairly quickly due to the time constraint. They were extremely accommodating and made us poor meals straight away. The food is really lovely. Nicely cooked with great flavours. The staff are fantastic. Absolute top stars. Highly recommend.

Have had several weekend lunches here over the past few months trying out several items on the menu and it is rapidly becoming a favourite. The bar staff are friendly and helpful but there is one guy in particular who really understands the meaning of hospitality. He really makes you feel welcome and is always upbeat and takes time to. The pasta is always a good option and changes regularly. The fish and chips are good as is the big breakfast option and the open chicken sandwich is yummy. There is a nice atmosphere though it can be noisy when full. You pay at the kitchen window when ordering. The meals are delivered to your table. Drinks are ordered and paid for at the bar. This system seems to work quite well.

The menu is a bit overpriced for what it is, the restaurant is fairly out dated and I have had terrible service from the owner. The afternoon staff are often much nicer and lovelier to deal with. The coffee is definitely not the best.

Lovely staff and surrounding, food was delicious and the menu was a good mixture. We had the Pulled Pork Sammie and the small Fish, chips and salad meals, very nice, fish was white, fluffy and batter beautifully crispy and light. Then came a dessert.....I am glad we shared as the portion was very generous :) crème brulee made with real vanilla beans, set out stunningly on the plate with creamy icecream. Wow would go back anytime :)
