A nice cafe for a quick bit to eat on your way up north, good service and friendly staff.

Lady who served us was so lovely, such great hospitality even for a short visit while travelling. The place was great with checking passports when needed too as well. Cheers!

I was looking for a place to stop for breakfast driving back to Auckland, came across this surprising cafe. Had mince on toast was very good quality nice coffee friendly service and good value- the other meals coming out looked good too- will have to stop again on the next trip down the country.

Been through ownership changes and such. But as of recent trip was really impressed. Had a burger and fries. Was really impressed with the burger patty think stop store bought but thick and juicy. Also have pies and other yummy baked good bought myself a brownie but left it on the counter very disappointed when we found that out 20 min later down the road. Will be stopping here again.

Yeah it was great not Ponsonby Rd but for rural NZ great. While you there check out Shop Monsoon across the Road, got me a top notch leather travel bag

The mushroom soup my Wife ordered was very good, despite not coming with the hash brown listed on th menu. I raised this with a staff member who pointed out to th chef it was included. I ordered th same and we both got our hash browns.

Delicious and accommodating!! Last minute had to bring a group of 16 in for fish and chips, the food was not only out within minutes of our arrival (called ahead as to not bombard them) but the fish was fresh, tasty, and delicious and the chips were hot and crisp. Everyone left full and happy. The manager was accommodating and patient with my group, could not ask for a better experience. Highly recommend!!

You'll want to visit Hunters Cafe for a refreshing break! Hey? Service is friendly, prompt and courteous. Choose from a wide variety of foods on the menu, and in the counter cabinet ... tables indoors and out, a wood burner, TV ... and really good coffee ... they're on SH1

My wife and I stopped twice this weekend on our motorcycle getaway (7th - 8th March) for coffee and tea plus snacks. Very impressed with service and excellent coffee and green tea. Lovely people, service and food.

We have just finished a really nice meal at the Hunters cafe. Service was very good and the size of the meal which was shared between two sure filled us up. We booked into a room for the night which has everything you need. Good prices too for food and motel stay. Staff and management very friendly and helpful.Thanks

Excellent scrambled eggs, bacon, eggs & coffee. Basic food done to absolute perfection. Best breakfast Ive had in many years. Not oily, not too crispy, not soggy. Even the relish was beautifully refreshing. You guys knocked it out of the park.

Try bigger buns on your hamburgers, otherwise was a nice scotch burger, very messy in a small bun. Chips were slightly over cooked, but way over salted. Just about threw them out.

The food was good and reasonably priced. Not a bad place for a pit stop on long drives! As a traveller I also appreciate some free WiFi.

The food is terrific! Mum and I stopped for dinner towards the end of our North island road trip. We were sick of takeout and fast food and craving a home cooked styles food and the meals we got in Huntersville well and truly satisfied. The steak was beautifully cooked and the pita breads were wonderfully fresh and tasty. I think this is going to be a regular stop for us from now on. I cannot recommend enough 😃

Had a lovely dinner at Hunters Cafe! I had the pulled pork burger and my husband had the steak. Both dishes were delicious, flavourful and more than enough food. The service was also top notch and staff very friendly.

Friday morning 8.00am - Order a coffee and eggs on toast. Coffee took 20mins and eggs arrived after 30mins. Was approx seven people seated inside. Not sure of their ordering status. If I had've known it was going to take that long I would not have bothered. I seriously considered just leaving after 30mins. Are the staff happy?

Wow. Coffee was perfect. My family and i came for lunch, 7 of us ordered big meals. we were told the orders will take some time so we got some coffees and sandwiches while we waited. best corned beef sandwich i have had in a long time. My steak meal was massive and cooked perfect. very warm inside too.

Dropped in near closing, staff were super friendly and helpful. We ordered two burgers and some chips, the panko fish burger was particularly delicious, and it was a very well priced meal. Highly recommended.

Surprising ... from the outside you'd never know about the terrific home made food. Lamb and rosemary pie was exceptional. Not the usual hot box. Small sausage roll tasted like grandma used to make. Huge pots of tea ... everything about the place was generous. Beautiful tree lined streets in spring flower worth the drive too!

All of the staff are very friendly. Good prices for the food. Big portions and the slices and pies are very yum. well cooked eggs bene and the fish burger was just perfect. Would love to come back for a good burger.

We went to the cafe on a public holiday and it was very busy with short staff, but the people here are courteous. Took more than 1 hour for the order. Food was not bad either. Setup us nice and clean. Ample parking space around. Lots of cold drink options make is better in summers.

The most amazing people, sponsored us a room for a night on my charity cycle ride, bloody good food for dinner and breakfast with a complimentary coffee before departing on my next stage, food and coffee is top notch, accommodation is good and cozy and we were made to feel very welcome!! Definitely will stop here again!

The motel was very Clean and cosy. The breakfast was amazing for a normal price you get an awesome meal, making you full for sure. The people are very polite and do not bother helping with any problems. I would recommend this motel to everyone, who needs a good place to stay.

wonderful little Cafe with something for everyone! they have a wide selection of food from full entrées to quick snacks. I had the hot cakes and bacon, and a side of eggs. It was definitely filling! I loved the fried bananas. Their coffee and lattes are especially delicious and beautiful presented. Also this place was open at 5am! Super convenient for my group who had an early start. wish we had time to stay for the Shemozzle!!

The food was OK. I ordered the big breakfast, but wasn't asked how I wanted my eggs, so got fried instead of poached, which is possibly my own fault. The portion size was generous! The main thing though, was the tables hadn't been wiped down. All the tables I could see had bits of food and sugar and spilt coffee from previous customers. Come on guys... You should at least wipe the tables down when people leave. It's the single most important thing that can give customers a bad impression. I'd probably go back next time I'm passing through, but would expect the tables to be clean next time.

Two tables in the whole restaurant, I ordered coffees, and then they were brought to the other table. Then they had to remake them. Doesn’t seem to be rocket science to figure out a system so you know who has ordered what. Coffee were good when they came tho. Meet pie was ok, but a bit too much goo and not enough meet.

This is a fantastic cafe for families and travellers. Great food, and atmosphere. Warm cosy fire and friendly staff. Great place to stop when travelling and easy access with a park across the road for little ones to play. There is a great choice in food and the best coffee in the district.

Fast and hot. Great for eat in or take away. Some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Manager was friendly and the service was awesome. Will be back.

The staff at Hunters Cafe were so helpful on our trip! We pulled in for a quick bite of fried oysters (yumm!) and when I forgot my purse there, they got in contact and had the purse sent to our address in Auckland, which is just above and beyond what I ever expected. Very delicious Pie and Falafel wrap and coffee/tea we had in this cozy quiet cafe. The prices are fare and the quality is high. Large variety of options for breakfast and lunch/snack. The service was very good and the staff were very friendly. The free Wi-Fi is a great plus for this cafe. There is also a playground for children on the other side of the street, which might be nice for families.

A nice place, all right staff. The food is super good. I got the chips with hot dogs. Super delisous. They have the best chips. Highly recommend going here.

I stopped here part way through a road trip for food, coffee and a break. Excellent friendly greeting from the lady on FOH was just great to start with. As a coeliac sufferer I am used to it being complicated and often problematic as I get ill if I eat foods containing wheat, rye or oats, but the two chefs and the lady on front of house could not have been more helpful in finding food that was safe for me to eat. The food and coffee were just what I needed!

I had a wonderful experience of meeting the hunters cafe team while I was in Hunterville. They are so warm and welcoming! The atmosphere in the cafe is so peaceful and I was able to wind down so beautifully with my coffee and breakfast. Would recommend it to all going out that way !! ☺

The meals were so flavour flavoursome and awesome size for the $$. Anyone wanting fantastic value forget everywhere else as this is the ace to go. On top of this the customer service was amazing

We had the ‘Steak Meal’, ‘Wedges with Cheese & Bacon’ & ‘Coffees’, Mean feed & Excellent coffee, but Steak was more ‘Well Done’ than ‘Medium Rare’ but still tasty. Excellent Service. Thanks 👍🏻

We were traveling from Wellington to Rotorua and stopped just to have some snack! We ate steak mushroom pies and drunk a mocha. The pies were really good! The bathroom was clean and tidy!

Butter chicken and chips were excellent. Chips were crisp and hot. Butter chicken was flavoursome, with lots of meat.

It's the best place to stop .my husband always order mince on toast.i love there French toast baconand banana they it just how I like it .an price normal as other places we go.are a bit expensive.

For $9.50 you will receive the "Hunter Burger" which is more massive than you can imagine. Beef patty, chicken patty, fried ham, fried egg, steak, and pineapple all make an appearance. I'll buy yr burger if you can fit yr mouth around the thing. Just what I needed on the long drive down to Wellington.

Love this place and always encourage people to go! Even if you don't order the Hunterburger - which is a must - there is always something on the menu to enjoy and the prices are amazing. A must stop every time I pass through Hunterville!

Restaurant quality Indian takeaways, highly recommend tika masala, mango chicken and butter chicken. Great f&c too. Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere, free fast wifi :)

I'm bloated to my eyeballs😵😵😵... AGAIN!!!! The meals are OH MY GOSH Hu-mungiss - y'all gotta drop in for the "Big Brekkie"!!!!! We live 20 minutes North of Hunterville and do at least a monthly pilgrimidge to come here especially for breakfast - awesome value for money not to mention yummmmmmmmmyyyyyy...most excellent pit stop!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍

If you are heading north from wellington and need to eat, go to hunterville and pull in at hunters cafe. Order the big breakie. The size and quality, of the meal, satisfied me till whangarei. The sunny side up eggs, chips and bacon are perfectly cooked. The mushrooms have the exact amount of garlic and the sausage is the size of a baby's arm. A must do for any travelller

Love this place, the service is A+++ and the food and coffee are amazing. This is our go to place once a week. You will not regret stopping here.
