We went for brunch today. The place is exceptionally clean. The food was awesome. Really lovely. ***** Highly recommend you give the Pokeno Country Cafe a visit.

Great coffee but 30mins later still no food, only three other tables occupied and two of those arrived after us. Spoke with cashier who gave excuses but no apology... Food when it finally came out was good with quality bacon and sausage, in keeping with location and price paid Saying sorry I will sort it out for you would have gone a long way, it would also have seen this review up at four star's EDIT Second visit, again great coffee, they punch well above their appearance when it comes to coffee, food came out fairly quickly and was both excellent in terms quality and value for money Will definitely be returning

We had the sausage breakfast for $16. Looks like they put an extra sausage in as well. Toast was really nice, sausages and has brown delicious and eggs fried to perfection. Really nice chuckney on the side. Good value, great taste and wonderful service. Will definitely be back

I've never had even a tiny meh moment in a the times I've been to this café. The coffee is excellent and is always hot enough, their meals and cabinet food are very good and OMG... I discovered their $9 fish and chip meal ... not only was it supersonically hot and freaking delicious but there was so much in the pack, you could so share it with another adult if you wish! So goooood 😊

Good price for food. The staff are friendly most times. A smile from the new cashier won't hurt lol. Maybe it was her first day. The interior decor definitely needs an upgrade, but I won't stop supporting them. Nice variety of food and specials, good service overall. Thanks.

It is such an easy place to relax and enjoy food. I visit it around Sunday mostly when the Pokeno markets are held. Good food and coffee. I liked the big gigantic😋 cup of coffee( i.e. a large cup). Good team with a great customer service

This cafe must have changed hands fairly recently as it's looking more like it used to. Just got a takeout cuppa from here - made exactly as I wanted, such a rare thing! Also- still doing their delicious famous cream sponges.

Brunch Kiwi breakfast with large flat white. Very good meal. My nieces had Eggs Benedict and they too thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Customer service good. Place is clean and tidy and there was a steady stream of customers going through. There is an outside area as well, just great.

My family love a kiwi classic and try fish n chips where ever we go. At the Pokeno Country Cafe we were over the moon with the quality, taste and price. We grabbed the $15 dollar special and it was mouth watering, definitely recommend it and we are going to go back again next time we travel out those ways.

It was a lovely clean place couldn't get my walker around any other place so got comfortable there. A nice hot day order the iced coffee then ordered some chips covered and cheese and bacon and lovely dipping sauce a little too hot for the day but still lovely iced coffee was brilliant and cold.the staff lovely and helpful was a nice visit recommend it to others 🙂

We are grateful to have someone try to do a much better job and contribute to Pokeno. Sorry to have so many people with criticism. It's hard to turn things around in a short time. The pokeno bacon hamburger wasn't surprised at all. It is no different compare to other local fish and chips takeaway. Services was fast and friendly, tidy clean restroom is available. The whole place keeps high hygiene standard. Mobility is accessible.

Nice Dine-in area, somewhere to sit indoor and relax. Have free drink of water and free sauce to go with the food. Nice clean rest room just awesome for travelers to stop by. Lowest price you could find in any Cafe or Restaurant. Love their Chicken burger Combo and $9 Fish and Chips special with $2 Tartare or Aiolie Sauce 😋

Our second vlsit now and I'm convinced to go there again with friends. What else can I say the food and coffee complment each other while you have three options to enjoy your stay. The covered garden the cafe itself or outside in the sun watching the world go by. What could be better than that?

Hard to run a cafe with staffs keep on calling sick leaves and not turning up. Just need to find right people with positive attitude, appreciation and responsible personality. Which is not easy nowadays. Take time and good luck.❤

Mmmm fish and chips with countryside views , don't forget to go to the pokeno waterfall, it's just nearby, we couldn't find the waterfall on Google maps so had to ask the locals lol 😆

Nice NZ fish and chips at Pokeno. Love New Zealand Snapper and Gurnard fish. Very nice and crispy chips with tartare sauce. Nice free tomato sauces👍

A cosy warm feel indoors on a wet winter day, but there is outdoor seating for fine days. Carpark next door. Food selection is average, but you can order burgers, fish and chips, breakfast, toasties as well as the cabinet food on display. Prices are rather high for the food supplied (e.g. toasted sandwich $10 and Nachos for $20). Reasonable coffee in a generous cup.
