Reviews of The Exchange
R.
Good place to have breakfast. Staff was friendly and food was good although the Smashed Avocado toast was just sliced avocado and a bit bland.
H.
You can expect the menu of a slightly modern still very Kiwi style cafe breakfast, lunch menu and counter food. Modern in the sense that food presentation is fine tuned and looks great. Moderate portion size. Reasonable price and good atmosphere. Nice place to catch-up or chill out in Queenstown.
A.
We had a lovely breakfast here this morning. Very friendly, accommodating staff. Wonderful food. Excellent menu which made selecting just one dish very hard.
J.
Busy place but we had friendly, prompt service. My partner and I both ordered the Big Breakfast. I also had a flat white with coconut milk and my partner had an iced Americano with cream. Tasty food, nice coffees! Can't go wrong here.
L.
Had brunch at The Exchange this morning and was excellent. 😋. I had the pancakes with summer fruits and my husband had poached eggs on sour dough bread with bacon. Apparently the coffee was great also. I enjoyed my tea.
C.
Very relaxing vibe, not too crowded on a Friday afternoon. The free range eggs were good, just the Rosti tasted like hash browns and one of the oven dried tomatoes tasted like a mouthful of salt, probably an accidental over-seasoning.
G.
One of the best coffees in Queenstown, great fresh juices and good breakfast/ brunch options. Cabinet food also looks amazing.
Definitely coming back.
Q.
Very nice staff, delicious food, good coffee
L.
Really nice place. Busy but not overcrowded. Staff was friendly too. I had the pancakes and they were yum! Recommended :)
H.
a cafe with great coffee and breakfast menu. love their carrot cake! It was super delicious and highly recommended with their coffee.
Egg Benedict and the other memu was also quite good!
L.
Our favorite brunch in Queenstown! We enjoyed the Buddha Board and Lamb Mince with Chorizo today. Both dishes were incredibly flavorful and fresh, absolutely morish. Also excellent flat white, strong espresso, and a yummy banana milkshake.
Menu has lots of vegan/vegetarian options and a bakery case full of great looking treats. Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, even good for groups, and offers wifi. Two thumbs way up 👍👍
E.
They make the best mince on toast! I travel from Auckland and love The Exchange. This is my go to meal as no one does it like them. Lamb mince with chorizo 🍴❤️
M.
There are quite a few cafés in Queenstown but this one stands out for me. Their selection of cakes is supreme, including gluten free vegan raw cheesecakes. My flat white was not only delicious, but also looked special - in a beautiful red cup and accompanied by a little red coated chocolate ball (skittles?) which obviously called for a picture. Appreciate the attention to detail! Well done staff at The Exchange!
D.
First day back at work and missing my daily fix at The Exchange.
Great coffee, tasty food and friendly service. Thanks for looking after us so well over our holiday!
G.
6 days in queenstown and a different coffee spot every day. This was the best coffee in the town easily. Food was good, poached eggs were not runny but the rosti was crispy and amazing.
B.
One word, OUTSTANDING! Our food was wonderful and we had great drinks too. Highly recommend.
J.
Always amazing food, coffee and service!
M.
My favorite place for coffee in Queenstown always friendly service, great coffee and delicious baked goods.
W.
The Exchange is situated at an great location in the city of Queenstown who is serving quality food.
s.
Great little place hidden at the back of the city centre. Their fresh juice is refreshing and drink selection is pretty wide ranging too. Serving very quickly after order. Large portion. We had sausage roll and banana walnut cake, this place was good for a quick bite.
T.
Went for brunch today, they were very busy. Food was fresh and yum.
Very tidy and clean.
A.
I ordered the buddha bowl and a coconut chai. The buddha bowl was amazing. Special mention for the walnut mince. I couldn't find the vegan house made feta, though. The staff didn't mention anything about it, so I assume they just forgot. Would have been 5 stars otherwise.
S.
Always a reliably delicious coffee, enough to walk 40 min to get it 😁 i remember from previous experience food is also very delicious & of high quality. Lovely atmosphere.
T.
Best coffee in Queenstown. A barista who knows how to make coffee and kind, efficient waiting personnel. Delicious hot cakes for breakfast.
M.
Great breakfast with friendly service. I look forward to returning.
M.
Great breakfast and very good service. Right in the town centre. I'd definitely go there again and would recommend it to anyone that is after a good breakfast.
C.
Amazing service, great food and drinks! Highly recommended - try their avocado smash or muffins... 🤤
M.
Nice coffee and reasonably priced meals for Queenstown. Visited by locals which is always a good sign of return business. Located close to the heart of Queenstown, with lovely views of the gondola.
J.
Great service and coffee!
Many options for your delicious breakfast.
G.
Great food! And amazing service! The staff are welcoming and friendly!
L.
Excellent coffee and food. Friendly service. This was my morning go-to during my entire stay in Queenstown.
C.
Short walk from lake by council buildings and located near Athol street carpark is this urban chic cafe.
Serving Burtons coffee which is very nice and I like strong coffee,.
Smoked ham toastie is very good and cafe is open at 7.30 am for those on early start to the day.
Outdoor seating is available.
N.
Nice place to start the day, good food and good coffee. Staff were friendly.
A.
Good coffee, friendly and good selection of food in the cabinet. Save the planet and use a REAL cup from their cup library ☕
B.
Best freshly brewed happiness and breakfast in Queenstown! Here, take my money! 👍
P.
Exchange has been one of my fave cafés since I arrived in Nz 12y ago. And the breakfast I had this morning, definitely reminded me why I was there every week! Outstanding service and definitely the best eggs bene I had in Queenstown. Also, really yum slices and muffins! :)
E.
Delicious coffee, friendly staff, good vibes, good eggs and amazing toast sourdough
J.
Great brekkies, coffees and juices!
A.
My biggest bug bear with cafe pancakes is when I order pancakes but get pikelets instead, but not here. They were a decent size and came with ample toppings. They also catered to my daughter's cashew and pistachio anaphylaxis allergies by spending extra time cleaning equipment (we didn't ask them to do this, just asked to avoid these in the menu) so it took a little longer, but it was worth it 🙂.
G.
Joined some friends here last week for coffee then returned the following 2 mornings for breakfast. Awesome friendly staff and delicious food!!
This definitely added to my great stay in Queenstown.
Thankyou, see you next year!
K.
Fantastic service and nice atmosphere! Came here almost every morning for breakfast during our stay in Queenstown. Our order wasn't your normal one, but our second day there for breakfast and the lovely lady serving us remembered our order from the day prior perfectly! Pleasantly surprised! Delicious food too. Highly recommend!
S.
Good portions and the food tasted great. The price for breakfast and tea was a bit higher than expected.
W.
Simply wonderful: Look at the pics...😉🙃 The staff was extraordinarily friendly.
M.
Decent spot for breakfast. A lot less crowded and more spacious than the other top breakfast spots in town.
R.
Had the buttermilk fried chicken with kewpie mayo oh yes excellent food, coffee and service.
Lots of variety and good options on the kids menu. 8yo rates it "the best cafe I have ever been to" woah.
k.
We had a poached eggs with avocado. It was tasty
J.
Really lovely place to stop for a top notch coffee, a bite to eat and a chat with the friendly staff! Great vegetarian options and the crumpets with honey are delicious.
T.
Had a really good mocha on a freezing day. Good service
C.
Have always thoroughly enjoyed eating at The Exchange but did have a particularly delicious brunch there this weekend! Can highly recommend the grilled haloumi, so tasty! Service was great and it was reassuring to see all staff complying to the Covid restrictions. Can't wait for my next visit!
E.
Went 2 days in a row in our 3 day stay, we enjoyed it so much. Really friendly staff, good lattes and nice food for breakfast and lunch. A little expensive for just some scrambled eggs and toast, but that's more a Queenstown problem. Only 30 min free WiFi, but it's still a nice place to hang out for a bit and check up on emails if needed. They've got a cute patio area as well if it's nice out.
R.
Really solid breakfast spot. We got the free-range eggs with bacon and the lamb mince - both were delicious. It's a great way to start your day in Queenstown!
M.
Hands down best mince on toast. Anywhere. Period!
Porridge is a great consistency, vanilla mascarpone very nice touch.
Portions will last you the day.
L.
Amazing strong coffee! I want to know what espresso they use, because it was one of the best I've ever tasted. Also got a scone and it was fluffy and warm. Highly recommend!
L.
I go to this cafe most mornings for a coffee, great baristas and great coffee. You can also now borrow a "chunky cup" in case you dont have your keep cup on you.
Fantastic little spot.
S.
Do yourself a favour... Have breakfast here!! We had breakfast here on our last morning before leaving Queenstown and I was blown away. One of the best breakfast I've ever had. Coffee was amazing too.
If you like something a bit different, try the Grilled Halloumi breakfast with edamame and avo. Truely spectacular. Bigger and better than it sounds 5 star ❤️
T.
Delicious coffee, slice and atmosphere. Staff are friendly and professional. Happy birthday and may you be here for at least another 7 years
A.
Always heard some good about the coffee quality. It's only from recently that is my "to go" coffee place. Friendly staff, nice coffees (with jaffa!!!), good selection of teas, a bit hidden from the busyness/craziness of the town and the food looks delicious although I haven't tried it yet.
G.
I've found it difficult to find a good coffee in Queenstown but the Exchange probably came the closest. Nice indoor and outdoor seating options with plenty of shade to pass the time people watching. Good food options both from the cabinet and the menu. Friendly and attentive staff.
P.
Great coffee and delicious chicken bao buns. The staff were lovely and gave us great recommendations too.
J.
Beautiful food, friendly staff. Great tally on disposable coffee cups saved!
M.
The Exchange cafe would surprise you with the tastiest breakfast in the town. Freshly made cream of mushroom soup is to die for, specially in the pleasantly cold mornings. Sausage roll is served hot and crispy. Sausage is good meat with veggies mashed into it.
Must go!
R.
Popped in on a cold day, was welcomed and found good coffee with a warm environment.
J.
Pleasant service, nothing standout amazing though and the food was a bit of a let down. Lovely presentation but unbalanced and lacking flavour. The pancakes were sweet ..on sweet.. on sweet, they needed something to cut through all the sugar. I was sadly only able to get half way through them.
The avo smash... well, it had no seasoning or sauce, therefore it was very dry - they hadn’t even buttered the toast! (Which added to the dry texture)
I have had the scones here before, and they were great so would come back for a scone and coffee any day :)
N.
Great brekkie. Eggs Bennie and big brekkie were great. Good coffee as well
R.
Pancakes for those who are hungry! Good taste and pleasing for the eyes.
D.
Excellent strong Americano with a chocolate and peanut slice went down very well. Had a half salad too, very good. Lovely bright corner location with a big sunny side terrace over looking the hills. Slightly insipid interior lacking a bit of character however service and food good. Thanks!
T.
This place is located in Queenstown. Opens at 8 a.m. Food is really good and portions are more than enough. Staff is friendly and will serve food on time. Wash rooms are available for men, women and elderly people inside the restaurant. Tables are available outside and inside both.
E.
Had a great latte and range free eggs, toast and bacon. The toast is homemade bread. My husband had the buttermilk pancakes that were wonderful , syrup is different than USA but probably better. The syrup is sort of like caramel. The staff were very friendly.
R.
I always make sure that I visit these when ever I am in Queenstown. Their coffee is one of the best in town. Price is reasonable too.
C.
Loved their coffee! Good quality coffee, friendly staff, and yummy caramel slice!!!
D.
The coffee and hot chocolate with our breakfast was really good. We had been here last year and it was fantastic but this year wasn't quite the same. Kids egg and bacon for $8.50 had only one bacon rasher. Two would have been better. The lamb mince on toast was spicy like a chilli and had chorizo in it. Not really what I expected. Also whoever prepared it had rushed, as it was very lumpy and served with two raw garlic cloves (???). Kudos to the young waiter who did a really good job under pressure and alone!
D.
Brilliant Breakfast & coffee👌!! Tasted delicious, service was quick , happy staff and the coffee was perfect :)
Will definitely go back again next time in Qt,
L.
Trendy cafe with friendly staff and an emphasis on sustainability with lots of plant based options (I recommend the breakfast bowl with walnut mince it was so delicious!).
G.
Have come here every morning during my trip to Queenstown. Coffee and food is great and arrives quickly
N.
Decent breakfast spot. Nice cosy cafe. Parking can be difficult in the area.
I had the free range eggs your way and found it to be a bit bland. No seasoning on the scrambled eggs, rosti was dence and also quite bland, just tasted like potato and oil. No seasoning or herbs or spices or anything added by the taste of it.
I wasn't impressed.
J.
Good service, great coffee and dog friendly. My pooches favourite place in town as he gets a drink and a snack ❤️
M.
Two amazingly good breakfasts I've had here. Granola was delicious and pancakes some of the best I've had. Coffee is excellent too.
D.
After 2 weeks around NZ, this place has hands down the best orange juice, coffee and eggs benedict. Friendly staff, no worries if you have any allergies they take care of you.
n.
My first time at the exchange. Big breakfast was really nice. Recommended.
M.
It was a nice cold morning, but quite warm inside. Food was good, family likes it, but to me it is a tad to pricy, well, it is queenstown.
M.
Great breakfast! Cozy atmosphere, lovely friendly waitress
H.
Delicious yummy fresh food. Definitely stop in here for breakfast or brunch
A.

(Translated) First visit) Ordered cappuccino large size. Atmosphere cafe. Nice cafe to relax. I came in on a rainy day and sat for three hours. The coffee tastes good.
2nd visit) Cappuccino Regular. It was chilly on a rainy day, but I turned on the heater. Rest well.

(Translated) The food can only be said to be average, not as stunning as other reviews say, and expensive. In terms of environment, if you have lived in a big city in China for a long time, visiting this store during your vacation will remind you of your work, and you will feel very relaxed. Service is okay.

食物只能说很一般吧,并没有其他评论说的那么惊艳,而且很贵。环境来讲,如果你在国内大城市生活久了,度假过程中到了这家店,会让你想起工作,从而产生很不放松的感觉。服务还好。
