Hands down the best sausage rolls we've ever had. We stop here every trip for coffee and sausage rolls. Could only manage a picture with half a sausage roll left haha, to good to wait!

We had a holden club cruise of about 45 - 50 people. Was very impressed with the service. Quick, friendly, and reasonably priced. They even had some lovely gluten free foods.

Always stop here for a refreshment break. No cheese rolls the day we went. But they did have nice pies and cheese scones. Great tarsealed parking area. Ideal for motorcycles

Very obliging and helpful staff. Arrived at the end of the time for closing and was told to come in. Very appropriate, as a lot more followed us in. Nobody was turned away. Prices extremely good. Service was excellent and table service is second to none. 5 stars all around.👍👍

Good cafe; pleased to find it as it’s the only one open past 3:30 in Murchison. Stopped in for a coffee and muffin at 15:45 and they happily served me without making me feel rushed. Others came in after me and all were served with a smile. Coffee was good and the bran muffin awesome, hardly find those on the menu and was very pleased. Lots of cabinet food options as well as a kitchen menu, ample indoor and outdoor seating, good wifi and clean toilets make this a 5star spot in my book.

I do enjoy stopping here for a breakfast or morning tea. Lots of yummy food to choose from. Coffee is good too.

Great coffee and fluffy for the boy. The best however, is that they have a secure playground area outside - absolute lifesaver after a long drive from ChCh! For that alone they deserve 5 stars!

Great selection of food and lots of seating options inside and out. Particularly grateful that the insulated drink bottle we left at our table was so promptly posted home to us! Thanks!!

Good hearty breakfast - good place for a break heading north or south. Recommend as a place to have a break and sit beside the fire

Drove from Kerr Campground to Punakaiki and stop for lunch here. Best stop point before long drive along mountain and forest again. Yummy almost everything I try. Very hungry and forgot to photo. Take a look some photo from Punakaiki instead ^_^

The café with friendly staff is located directly on Waller St. and has easy parking.

Dropped in for a meal on the way up to Nelson. I had bacon and egg pie, mocha and Belgian slice. The food was lovely and the service excellent. Parking was easy. I got a spot right outside the door. The decor of the restaurant is good and all the facilities were clean and tidy. A good range of food from kitchen and cabinets was on offer at reasonable prices and there was a good range of drinks available, both hot and cold. I enjoyed my food break and the delicious hot mochachino. Thanks Beechwoods.

Regular stop. Nice food, coffee usually pretty good. And plenty of room. It can be really hot in Murch in the summer though so we usually get something takeaway and keep driving with the a/c on!

Lovely cafe as you enter Murchison. Great menu selections with a wide range of food and drink available. Warmed by a fire in the winter with lots of outdoor space in the summer. Lovely, friendly service and tasty food! Our go to place when travelling through.

Great for a pit stop on a long journey. Service and coffee are always good 😊

The staff at this cafe are truly amazing and the coffee is excellent! I am very touched by the kindness shown by the chef who came out and changed our car tyre as my husband was in a shoulder brace post surgery and was unable to help. We had tried two mechanics in town and waited an hour for help but neither shop were interested in helping, despite offering to pay or purchase a new tyre. We will definitely be stopping every time we pass through and look forward to trying some meals of the menu which looked delicious. Thanks again for your awesome kiwi hospitality! A must stop for anyone passing through.

Great spot for a decent break or lunch time feast. The outdoor seating and views are great.

My husband had a Steak and mushroom pie which was tasty and not too hot. 2nd pie he has had here in 3months and both very nice. Son had chicken burger and said it was GOOD.It certainly looked good. Coffee was also Very Good and again not too hot. Well done team.

Always looking forward to stop at the cafe on our way to Golden Bay from Dunedin. The staff are friendly and helpful. The dining area cafe is spacious, cozy and clean. Lots of tables outside and parking is plentiful. Definitely a great spot for a quick stop after a long road trip. Highly recommend!

Stopped there for a quick meal. Service is fast and friendly but not very accurate asked for poached eggs got fried. Side order of mushrooms straight out of a can. Average large breakfast. Coffee not bad but wont be winning any awards either. Should have complained about eggs but the counter staff was overwhelmed with customers. Would I stop next time.....the judges are still out

Stopped for coffee which was primo but discovered I'd left my wallet there. Phoned and was told they had it on their office desk. They are returning it to my home address free of charge. Isn't that great service and so trustworthy. Many thanks Beachwood Cottage Cafe.

My son and i visit here 4 times a month for lunch to break up our travel. The food is great. There is plenty of seating. And a nice toasty fire. There is always a long line to order/pay for food. The restrooms are always tidy. And there is a playground outside for the kids with lovely seating in the sun. I recommend.

Every event in my life, no matter how big or small lead me to the moment when I stepped into Beechwoods Cafe in Murchison. I couldn't believe my luck as I emerged from the fog onto this gem. It was like arriving at a resort in an otherwise dilapidated one horse town. The hand crafted wooden display unit under the counter and plethora of deer heads dotted around put me at ease. The fires and underfloor heating, warmed my soul as I gazed out on green paddocks and bush clad hills. My experience was topped off with a five star omelette and almond latte. Upon leaving I took a selection of gluten free food from the cabinet in order to protect me from the celiacs disease that plagues me. I have one small suggestion that would improve my experience for next time. Please even up the number of deer heads on display. Nothing less than sixteen points. For anyone still reading this review, take some comfort in the fact that you have no free will and couldn't do otherwise.

Wasn't that impressed, ordered my meal then was told they didn't have any left so that was ok and I ordered another meal, however was disappointed that I was delivered my meal after the other people I was with had finished thier meals and then felt rushed to eat as the waiter walked around to put the chairs on the tables and close windows. Food was alright but didn't like feeling rushed to eat my food and having it after the people I was with had finished.

The place was very busy and the cabinets were a bit bare. The service was great and the coffee good. They advised us there was a 15 to 20 min wait on food. Eggs Benedict was so worth the wait.

My husband and I always enjoy visiting this establishment as it had honest home cooked food and if you are one that does not like too much processed unhealthy food eg Mackers, pizza, fish and Chios etc the this is thee place stop for a top up,when traveling....

Awesome service. Order wasn't quite right but we kept it (wasn't a biggie) and next minute the lovely person gave us a free coffee or two. Food was great and we went back two days later and had another great meal...awesome blueberry muffin with butter...thank you very much.

Have always stopped here on way through busy place however notice less choice of food as it was in the past. Keeping less food in cabinet's it appears little hard for them to predict volumes with other places now open I guess. Clean and tidy inside and outside eating areas

Great usual stop along the way, food is fairly good, we ordered chips and got plenty, could you a little freshen up.

Customer service was a little all of the place as orders were coming out wrong and not knowing where they were going. A new system would be better implemented. However when I received my wedges they were fab! Gloriously crispy.

A great cafe/diner in Murchison with a huge range of eating options; from a humble sandwich through to full blown cooked meal and many options between. The place is clean and tidy with plenty of seating, both indoor and out. There is also plenty of parking, even for those towing a caravan or boat.

Excellent food good quick service with a smile, in just the right place for a stop for coffee or lunch.

My usual break from driving. Food is ok, nice enough place. Orders often seem to get forgotten during busy periods (as happened again today) so keep an eye out or ask staff.

Don't really pay attention to customers orders or customers as a whole was barely anyone in their n took 10mins for someone to actually serve me.

Murchison is often halfway to many places and a great place to stop for break and Beechwoods is a great place you so at. Not startling but ok coffee, good food selections, tidy, friendly and efficient staff, good indoor and outdoor seating. With a visit.

I don't know if it's due to Covid restrictions or changed hands, but it wasn't as good as usual. Food selection was limited and service was a bit slow. Hopefully be back to the usual standard in Nov when we pass through again.

Lovely little stop on the journey, although SH1 is now open again, this is still a very busy café with good food and good service. Worth the break in your trip.

Clean building, courteous staff, and immaculate restrooms, but the pre-made food was fairly terrible. Can't speak to the made to order food but the kitchen didn't inspire me to want to try more.

Very disappointed as the place was freezing. We asked the staff to put more wood on the and they said they weren't allowed. They asked us to fill in a review which we did. The staff said they were also frozen. We weren't the only patrons who complained.

Often average coffee and slow service. However this is often used more as a break from driving. Great location too.
