Reviews of Capers Cafe + Store
S.
Capers Cafe... what a delight!! This Cafe has a lovely welcoming layout, lots of plants and relaxing music. I found this Cafe had a great ambiance about it.
The coffee was nice but the friand was a tad bit dry... the orange flavour really came through though and the icing on top definitely helped. Great gluten free range too!!
The staff were super friendly here and the wait time on the coffee was incredible.... I don't know if I could make an instant faster at home.
I look forward to coming back again!

Googled healthy food Rotorua & Capers Cafe popped up so we went on a walking mission to find it from the lakefront & well worth the effort. Efficient staff finding seats, taking orders & delivering great food on a busy holiday morning. I love a cafe that provides a little tub of yummy condiment to enhance the meal. We stuck to the cabinet food & we’re very pleased with our orders. Great cafe all round!
P.
Absolutely beautiful food with a great range and fantastic service. Would do back again and again.
One suggestion: I had the pork belly & fries which were each delicious on their own but quite a bit too much together. I would've loved to try the pork belly with a salad, and the waffle fries as a side option. Another visit I had the chicken wrap which was perfect.

Capers is an old favourite. I have not had a breakfast/brunch at this establishment before this morning.
Family was over from New Plymouth, so we had our shared meal at Capers.
Coffee amazing (better than the excellent usually served). I had the Eggs Benedict (with rolled pork and three eggs!). Great. also beside me is the half-demolished banoffee. All family members reported having an excellent meal (conversation at a minimum as we launched into the food).
K.
We really enjoyed our little afternoon tea here at capers. Friendly staff that called you by your name. Reasonable prices and generous serving sizes. Added yogurt/cream with our cakes was a great bonus.
M.
Great range of cakes that I have enjoyed previously. However if you’re getting brunch service is a bit lacking (have to request cutlery, water etc rather than having it offered). Eggs bene is great but the rice porridge didn’t have fresh fruit with it, just something that tasted like it had come straight from a can.
K.
I love the opening hours - 7 - 7, 7 days a week, very easy. We arrived a little late for the breakfast menu so will go back in a few days to try. Macchiato coffees were very robust and had a lot of depth. The seafood chowder was hearty and above what you would expect to find in New Zealand. I loved my (special) blue cheese and walnut fettucini (topped with rocket and tomatoes), it was decadent without being overly heavy (thanks in part to the salad on top) and also vegetarian.
Went back for breakfast two days later, omg the eggs Benedict are the best. The pork belly was better than the smoked salmon, but it was nice to have a piece of each. The pork belly is better than nearly all fine dining restaurants I have been to across the world, very generous servings, I think some customers share, as there are 3 eggs and 3 little rostis. Coffees still awesome and food comes out hot and fast.

I just love this place so much ! Extremely delicious, mouthwatering food at such affordable prices. This is a great place for a pleasant, appetising brunch or a chilling night out with your fam. Several choices of delightful dishes in the menu that won’t disappoint you. Me and my family loved everything we ordered that day and we cannot rave enough about Capers ! Very well seasoned food with elegant displays. Nice and cozy atmosphere with adorable setups and decorations. I adore the manager of this place so much and I’m so grateful to him that he let my puppy stayed with us and thoughtfully seated us in a table outside, after I explained to him that it was our last day in Rotorua and we didn’t want to leave the little doggo in the car. So nice, so warm-hearted, so passionate, and so professional. I know one thing for sure that Caper Cafe + Store will go further and further in the future because they provide everything that a good hospitality service should be like. I highly recommend this place !!
D.
Was staying round the corner, so easy to get to. Super food, quick prompt service and spotlessly clean.
B.
I was recommended this place. Would definitely come here again. The food choices are many and varied, and the service is top notch. I had the vegetarian lasagna, very nice.
E.
Food is nice but overpriced. Nice atmosphere. Coffee not my cup of tea, was too strong.
E.
Yummy chocolate tart and a range of other cakes available. There are a good range of drinks - including matcha and turmeric latte which is nice to see included on a menu. Uninteresting interior but the cafe is open until 7pm so makes a good stop if you’re looking for coffee and cake later in the day.
A.
Wonderful food... grateful coffee.. tables are large enough to spread your paper out on to read while drinking coffee and having your breakfast... A bit on the expensive side but well and truly made up for with what only be described as volume of food and good service.. Will definitely be going back.
C.
I can rely on Capers staff to do really good coffee. But I am starting to become disappointed in the range of slices available with the coffees. The MEALS I have had there are fine, but to pop in for a coffee and slice is not as good as it used to be. One lives in hope that the old range will reappear sometime.
B.
Ice chocolate delicious, they do a cool kids platter that has such a motherly touch to it, pork belly fries were delish! Wanna try waffles next! One of best cafes in town
H.
We visited Capers Cafe and store while on our Road trip in New Zealand while in Rotorua and heading south. Loves this place as some much option for breakfast /brunch food. Also the store has a lot of products and provision that can be picked up handy for a road trip. Fresh and refreshing breakfast. Would go there any time if it was close by
C.
Great cafe in Rotorua with a fun menu and cabinet. Does a great cake! Venue is really spacious inside and nicely decorated, and theirs a little local food/produce section in a corner of the store, great for stocking presents 🎁
S.
Amazing food and prompt service.
Epicly large portions too! The pork belly benedict is to die for
D.
Great service, great food. Everything a cafe needs. The food was delicious and good portions!
Also, I witnessed this cafe at its most heated time - lots of customers, confused patrons, high stress, and they handled it like a complete boss.
Nothing beats an establishment that is well run and well managed. Will definitely come back.
C.
Yummo brekkie, pork belly eggs bene... with a slight wait,as they were super busy...most excellent, great service as well...going again

I was greeted by a lovely young lady with a sunny disposition, who then proceeded to make a very nice Flat white.
Well presented café, I'll be sure to return
S.
Ordered the capers big breakfast.. everything was cooked to perfection hats off to the chef and really friendly staff.
S.
What lovely gem to come across. The food is gorgeous, something for everyone. Can't wait to try the after 2pm menu next time.

Wow what a buzzing cafe and no wonder this spot is so popular, all the staff are so welcoming and friendly and are so knowledgeable and the vibe is great. They also have a kids room with a TV which is great and an all rounded menu to cater to everyone, the hash browns were yummy and the granola was good too. Everything was superb and I think his name was Brendan but he was so friendly and just watching him interact with all the customers made the experience feel to homely, he's a star. Coffee is spot on and they have some yummy looking salads and cakes on display too. A must try in Rotorua.
r.
Nice place..
Food seemed over priced BUT when you got your meal was a good portion we left full. 3 lunchs 1 beer 1 juice 1 coffee came to $76
S.
My family and I love capers and go here for breakfast every time we come to Rotorua. Their food is excellent and comes out of the kitchen very quickly which is good if you want a proper meal but are in a rush. They also have a vast array of both sweet and savoury counter food. They’re also open from 7am until 9pm which is great if you want a salad or something to take home for dinner and have left it to the last minute. They also have lots of tables meaning no need to worry if they’ll have any free, a kids play area and a lovely little shop/deli area.

Amazing Cafe with delicious food and great coffees .. Loved it
S.
Doing some research on Google reviews I wanted to head over to this cafe for breakfast before our Jiujitsu training in Rotorua.
Was pleased to see the variety of menu options they had for brekky in particular and the beautiful homemade hashbrowns they had to offer as a side option for the eggs benedict with salmon.
Everything was fresh and delicious, not too much, not too little.
Can’t wait to head back again next visit.!
S.
WOW. You have to go here. The pork belly in master stock broth is one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had. While it is priced quite high it is definitely worth every cent. Large range of meals and drinks and delicious sweet treats out of the cabinet. This cafe/restaurant alone is enough reason to travel to Rotorua.
S.
What lovely gem to come across. The food is gorgeous, something for everyone. Can't wait to try the after 2pm menu next time.
금.
Nice coffee. Kind staff. Over average food. Mushroom soup was great. But bacon on the plate was away salty. Coffee was creamy and tasty. Variety of cabinet food will give you to make hard decision making. Recommend.
J.
Such a cute place for lunch!
Y.
Best cafe in town! Fantastic food. So many mouth-watering choices. Great portion, so tasty, friendly and helpful staff. Definitely will come back again. Highly recommended 👌
l.
Good and so scrumptious but I recommend you book a table - struggled to get one for 7 people. Sorry we were so hungry we forgot to take a picture. Very handsome young man named Bailey is great eye candy- love the pink ladies from Auckland
C.
Little bit slow on the order. Asked to close the door as it was so windy and cold. Yes you can close the door, 2 minutes later staff come and open both doors. So cold and windy with a wait time of 20 minutes for a coffee.
Coffee was really good. So was the slice.
A.
amazing place, i love the brownie and the tomato sauce is the best around, definitely will be coming back. I love the christmas window and the egg and bacon bagel is so good. This place is a frequent of mine and I love supporting local. The artwork around the cafe gives it a nice ambiance and the deli side of the store really brings the whole place together, I love the T2 products and the raspberry drops are a must have. The kids room is so nice for my two kids - 7 and 5, they love coming here and have a fluffy every time, they love watching movies in the kids rooms, their favourite being ice age. The staff are super nice and always welcome you with a warm smile. The smoothies are fresh and always scrumptious, my spanish husband - Enrique says the place is mucho guay, which I think means very cool. Enrique is very picky with his food so this is a BIG compliment. The place wouldn't be the same with different staff, Caro and Philly make the place special. When I have a bad day Capers never fails to cheer me up. My friend matthew says.
d.
Coffee was ok, very weak blend. Atmosphere is nice but feels like a cafeteria. Nice selection of foodie gear in their store, though.
S.
Had the Gluten free corn bagel for breakfast here - really delicious! Not surprise that it was pretty busy as it’s a popular spot!
G.
Very busy, as always. Food and coffee delivered in good time. Great quality. Always beautifully presented.
C.
Yummo brekkie, pork belly eggs bene... with a slight wait,as they were super busy...most excellent, great service as well...going again
S.
The big kiwi breakfast Capers serves was the perfect fuel for our big day in Rotorua and Hobbiton. We were excited to see gluten free toast on the menu, and delighted by the orangey farm egg yolks in the eggs. The food is on the pricy side, but if you're willing to pay a bit extra for quality nutrition this place is a great breakfast choice. The atmosphere was cozy- we sat at the cozy bar tables by a big window. The food was served to us quickly, and my boyfriend enjoyed the long black. They serve organic coffee, and seem to care about organic ingredients, which is great. I especially loved the potato & leek hashbrowns that came with our breakfast.
B.
This place seems very popular with locals and tourists. We turned up on a holiday weekend so expect a wait. You might need to wait and grab a table as it comes available. Neat eatery with attached store if you want to buy some gourmet food and condiments. Service is good and food is delicious. We had a group of 6 and everyone enjoyed their breakfast! Plenty of street parking if you can find one!
L.
Amazing place for coffee and food! The green smoothie is delicious and refreshing and their signature dish of a big breakfast is wholesome and filling. Definitely one of our favorite cafe's in Rotorua.
K.
Lovely meals and quick service. I appreciated that they have a few vegan breakfast options listed. I tried the Rice Porridge and Bircher & Açai Bowl and they were both very good. I would recommend the porridge on a cold morning. Thanks! :)
S.
Whatba great place to come for breakfast. The service is brilliant and the staff are so polite. They have a good selection of food and drink on offer. They also have an area for children to play aswell.
T.
This place is great, the staff are very friendly and the food is delicious. The cabinet good is very fresh and the slices/cakes are better than 90% of other cafes. We are regular customers of Capers and their consistency keeps us coming back.
S.
Ordered the capers big breakfast.. everything was cooked to perfection hats off to the chef and really friendly staff.
T.
This place is nothing short of fantastic! I had the pork belly eggs Benedict and the wife had the jaffle toastie. First time I have ever been given 3 eggs and a side of hash browns with my eggs Benedict for the same price most cafes charge. This is definitely value for money. Food was amazing, coffee was great and the service was superb! Highly recommend
M.
Great place for breakfast. Clean. Service was great. Food was delicious 😋.
s.
Nice gourmet collection. The organic coffee left strong yet calm impressive taste. We also tried the lamb shanks after all the sheep we saw today left us craving for it. It was truly tasty. We will comeback again for the breakfast and to try the steak.
D.
Superb place for early breakfast. Great selection of food. Good coffee. Very popular. Very friendly and well presented.
G.
Really good cafe spot. We popped in for breakfast and it was worth it. Coffee was really good and the food was delicious. Eggs benedict - you gotta try it. Wifey got Kickstarter omlette and she really enjoyed it. Service is also on point.
J.
Best cafe in Rotorua by far, great breakfast, and those chips with pork belly wow
S.
12 ladies, no bookings ,no problem.
Very good service, very roomy, fabulous food selection.will definitely be back.
s.
Loved their food loved the space !! The prices made sense as well. Will sure go again :)
M.
Visited during a busy Saturday. Girls behind the counter were excellent, putting up with my indecisiveness and explaining what was in the cakes I asked about. Settled on my favourite - carrot cake and was not disappointed, sponge was moist and came with cream and yoghurt... unusual but divine. Thoroughly enjoyed with a vanilla latte (quickly served to me at my table) and my book.
D.
Delicious food, friendly and generous staff. I will definitely be going back 😃 highly recommend the choco-nana smoothie, so yummy!
K.
Delicious bircher muesli. Fast friendly service.
P.
Good coffee, delicious healthy food selections with small entertaining kids room that give the feels like a kids movie theatre.
M.
Delicious Lamb Rump and Couscous will most definitely be back to try some tarts next time:)
L.
Great menu choices, keto and gluten free options as well. Great atmosphere, great staff, great times
D.
Great service and great coffee, really wnjoyed coming here and will make sure I always stop by when in Rotorua! Thanks for a great time!
L.
Great atmosphere and great food!
S.
Amazing food, best snapper I've had in a long time, great service and value!
V.
Very busy during weekends. Love their coffees or hot drinks and desserts. Easy to locate as it’s just in Rotorua CBD. Had a chai latte yesterday and an orange muffin, by far it’s one of the best chai lattes I’ve ever tasted.
J.
We were searching for dessert places in Rotorau and Google brought us here. Very good and rich cakes. We came back another time for a light dinner and I must recommend their seafood chowder. Generous with the ingredients and cooked to perfection. Very legit seafood chowder
P.
Just remembered this cafe when talking about a family trip to NZ four years ago in April. So clearly it was memorable. Great selection of food with a cute little store inside. It was so good we frequented the cafe throughout our trip and every-time the food was amazing! Hopefully we will be back soon.
W.
First impressions are always important in a cafe, feeling welcomed and cozy in said cafe is part of the experience. As soon as I stepped into the door the atmosphere and “energy” was vibrant, homey and most importantly welcoming. I was in a group but I don’t want to write a novel describing everyone’s food, so I will just go into detail with mine. I ordered the beautiful honey toasted cinnamon bagel. The food we ordered all came out at the same time at a responsible pace. As soon as it came out we realised the presentation was absolutely amazing. The care put into every dish is stunning, my photos do not do it justice. That first bite may have been the best thing I have ever eaten, somehow a single bite had multiple sweetnesses all waiting for there turn. First very sweet, then all most savoury, then sweet with the raspberries and finally back to the good ol’ taste of a perfectly cooked bagel. I was very impressed with that feat of food engineering and culinary arts. The rest was just as good with the contrasting flavours and textures. Overall I highly enjoyed the entire experience. The only thing I can complain about was that our server seemed to be quite frankly a bit board and uninterested, but they didn’t really have any effect on the overall atmosphere of our Mother’s Day breakfast.
C.
Place ulis very swanky, busy on Sunday mornings! Got a ham bagel, lot of cream cheese, v nice. Would defo come back.
A.
Enjoyed afternoon tea and coffee in a relaxed atmosphere
S.
Amazing food, fast service, great atmosphere. I had the very filling Capers Big Breakfast. My husband had the pork belly eggs benny. Will definitely be back!
D.
Totally recommend that place. Lots of different meals, gluten free or vegan friendly. The salmon bagel was yummy.
G.
Great food and super fast service, definitely will be back when in Rotorua again 👍
K.
Such artistic, tasty, fresh delicious menu set in a comfortable atmosphere where the staff are friendly and hospitable. Perfect spot with amazing tasty food.
K.
Went for a bridal breakfast. Great that it opened at 7am, as we had wedding later on that day. I had emailed business to reserve a table, which was acknowledge by follow up email, so that was great. Ordered the Creamy mushrooms and these were delicious, a little more runnier sauce than other cafes, but still heaps of flavour👍. Other family members got the big breakfast, which is huge, and couldn't be finished and also the salmon bagel, which was tasty and available in gluten free option too...👍The Chai Latte was delicious very spicy.. All in all, great experience, would go back again definitely. And price is similar to other cafes around Rotorua
E.
Lovely place for breakfast, they serve unusual eggs Benedict with three eggs. Good choice of sweet cakes. Overall I found food and coffee slightly overpriced.
There is also nice shop on site.
K.
Nice and cozy place. Food is tasty.
Service is questionable. No price for drinks. Very long waiting for meal (more than 30 minutes) and no one managed expectations. They lost our coffee order, so we were ready to leave and ask for a refund. Thanks for one of the waitresses who remembered our order and vouched for. The cherry on top was removing unfinished cake without asking when my wife went to bathroom with kid. Waitress didn't even looked at me and didn't listen when I called her to stop. I know, it was crowded, but never again anyway.
S.
Delicious food, certainly on the pricier side for cafe food. All fresh and beautifully presented!
K.
Lovely surprise in the hometown of "big kiwi breakkie" to find a place that serves healthy plant based foods. Options galore if you are vegan. Very pleased!!
W.
Yummy breakfast, quick service, delicious coffee. Highly recommended. You can also buy some nice tea/honey/coffee/sweets in the little shop attached to the caffè.
B.
Never been before . Was recommended by friends. We were thrilled with the service and food . Wonderful selection of cabinet food although we choose from the menu. Reasonably priced and well presented.
X.
It's delicious food. The coffee also is good.
G.
We had breakfast here and it was a very delightful experience! The place is busy in the mornings but you'll find good vegeterian breakfast options plus good coffee here.
R.
Had Eggs Bene (organic eggs and bacon) here for breakfast this morning ... at $22.50 its a bit pricey I think .... my regular cafe in Ponsonby Rd (AKL) charges $18.50 and I dare say the rent in Ponsonby Rd is at lest twice what it is here ... but, that aside, it was lovely and the food was good .... Liz served me ... she was so welcoming and friendly that I’ve decided that interaction was worth the extra $2 above what they really should be charging
C.
Had the pork belly eggs Benedick very nice speedy service coffee good will definitely go again.
T.
FOOD IS SUPER AMAZING ...I LOVED DOING MY KETO SHOPPING TO BRING BACK HOME ..SERVICE IS ATTENTIVE AND HAPPY ...HIGHLY RECCOMENDING
A.
Really good coffee and food. We ordered the new dish loaded pork belly and it was absolutely delicious and so affordable. Next time I come to Rotorua, I will come back here for sure and try something different. Everything looks so delicious.
M.
Amazing! Service was great, ambience is great, food was perfect. Had a big breakfast which wasn't too heavy and tasted amazing! Staff were very attentive and quick tot respond and food came VERY quickly! Will definitly be recommending to friends and family.
M.
Easily the best French Toast I've ever had. Well presented, perfectly cooked egg battered toast and bacon, nice balance of fruits and maple syrup.
S.
Good place to suit everyone. Stopped in for afternoon snack, but they also offer hot food, kids menu, specials (steamed mussels), an array of salads and savoury cabinet food, separate to another cabinet of sweets. A gift shop inside with quality offerings. T2 tea, art work on the walls and appears to be a very well thought and efficient business and nice service by staff.
K.
Great food, service was great. Tables were clean right away
S.
Always great service. Love their smoothies.
T.
Had lunch here - all meals were thoroughly enjoyed by our family including my gluten free, dairy free salads plus eggs bene and baked potato. Great to have gf, df options available, thanks! Coffees also great. Would definitely recommend!
T.
A lovely set up Restaurant/Cafè. The food is second to none, the best! The service was great and the coffee is excellent! Clean toilets! And a great shop of up Market food and kitchen ware, cooking products, also a amazing range of tea and coffee's. I give them 10 out of 10!
J.
Came back for breakfast twice! I think that speaks for the food.
We really enjoyed our time here. The coffee was amazing and perfect every time. One of the best cups I have had. The breakfasts was large. I had the pork belly poached eggs and my gf the mushrooms. Both were delicious. The next day we had there espresso cheesecake & the pancakes and they were just as amazing!
Will come back when in Rotorua again!
C.
Visited with grand daughter today .. fabulous food and coffee with friendly, humorous staff. Kapai to mahi - and yes, granny paid as usual ✔
m.
Great breakfast and very popular. A little pricey but good quality n tasty food.
Service was a little off hand, but they were very busy. Coffee was average.
V.
Very nice and clean cafe, staff friendly. The breakfast we ordered was tasty and nicely presented. Coffee nice too.
N.
Not only the food exceeded expectations but the quality of service is exceptional. Best run cafe I’ve been to! - Wish I could rate it 10 stars!!
A.
Food here is very good yes bit pricey than usual but quality seems high.. having breakfast here as Im writing this gr8 benedict and sweet muffin.. coffee was let down as barely able to taste coffee and did ask for double.. management maybe need to assess baristas if one would call them that otherwise will be back to try again. 😊
G.
All the meals are huge and yummy, the doggy bags are very eco friendly
K.
The raddest selection of cakes and sweet pies I have ever seen. Lemon pie was to die for as was the chocolate cake. Exceptional coffee.
The service was lovely and genuinely friendly which made me feel super welcome.
This cafe has also gone above and beyond to battle Covid with socially distanced seating, options for singing in and HAND FREE DOOR OPENERS attached to the loo doors - just use your foot! Very cool.
Store of goodies is also a real treat :)
M.
Best Healthy food

We often stay in Rotorua Central and can't wait to visit Capers each time. We dined here as a couple on Thursday eve and I had amazing pork belly while hubby had goulash. Great service and delicious meals. Saturday we lunched with a group of about 12 adults. Once again great choices on offer and enjoyed my meal and delicious coffee. Cannot recommend Capers enough. We tell all our friends to eat here when visiting Rotorua ☺️
H.
Nice breakfast, would highly recommend
M.
Visited Rotorua today went to the Capers cafe, lovely lunch & coffee. A very good selection of cabinet food, salads, cakes with nice coffee. The staff were helpful and great service. Will go back
M.
Great food, very good service and friendly staff. I highly recommend this place.
M.
Very nice coffee. The French toast looked amazing and very yummy.
D.
Great food, friendly staff, lots of seating, super clean and tidy. Would go back again.
S.
Visited Capers for the first time and it was an absolute delight to be there.
Variety of food available. Enjoyed it. I ordered my hot choclate which I forget to mention to make extra hot. Staff kindly replaced my hot choclate without any extra charge.
Excellent service.
C.
Great coffee.... even better food 😍
s.
It is an ultimate place to hangout with your friends and family. quality of food and service is awesome with nice interior. They forgot my child fluffy but the lady was really polite and she offered us a voucher for next time. Highly recommended. Definitely coming back.
t.
Best in town? Maybe. Capers has always been brilliant.
M.
Very accommodating, very nice food!
R.
Capers Cafe was recommended to me by the motel I stayed at. He was right, the food was good, reasonably priced and on a quick head count, there were at least thirty diners there. Obviously the place to go.
L.
My food was way too salty, I got the pork and chips or something like that, everyone else liked there meals though so idk
I would of asked for a less salty meal but I didn't want to make everyone wait for me
V.
Great service, awesome food, pleasant atmosphere. Thanks folks
A.
Bussing and very busy cafe , have to say service is great even is very busy and alot of things going on at the same time with the staff , but food is just average unfortunately.
Expecting great coffee but also average too .
Our coffee came very late after the food being served for awhile.
The ordering system could be better :)
M.
Nice food and coffee ☕ 😊. Pleasant atmosphere. 👍🏽
M.
We had breakfast there instead of the hotel menu and it was definitely a wise choice. Large selection of breakfasts available, a lot of space and it has a warm atmosphere. The actual food was great, above average your typical cafe. Even though there's a lot of tables, that place is so popular I would advise to get in as early as possible to ensure you have a place to sit. Highly recommended!
P.
Ordered eggs benedict for breakfast, interesting that it came with pork belly instead of bacon.
P.
Lovely food, lovely people
t.
Good coffee open at 7am after walking the dogs
D.
Delicious food. Had the baked flounder and it was very nice. Overall, menu is a bit pricey but good for a treat or an occasional meal. Also had the Capers Continental breakfast, which I also can't fault. Bacon was fine for me. Wasn't too salty. Definitely can't fault the quality and taste of the food
K.
Great family friendly cafe, good food and coffee. Plus the kids room with tv was a godsend. I had the half serve eggs bene with pork belly. Delish and still with 2 poached eggs. Kids had snack platter which was perfect everything kids usually eat.
P.
This place is 5 star in every way. Was getting up to get another coffee and the lady who was close by clearing tables offered to get it for me, I gave her the money and here it is sitting in front of me. Well done everyone!
L.
Very good experience. Wholesome healthy meals with lots of options. I like hot coffee and it came as ordered. I love it when the staff listen to my requests. Well done Capers keep it up.
A.
Fantastic service- my mum was tearful when she rang me after getting her Mother's Day present delivered today. She has been in hospital and was very grateful for the cooked meats and fresh fruit box delivery. Recommend this company - better than the usual delivery of flowers!
A.
Georgous food and awesome atmosphere
T.
Nice range of food but the large latte I ordered was more of a regular size. I asked if maybe they got it wrong but turns out they did give me a large one. When you compare it to other cafes it is a really small/regular cup. So if you’re going to order a large cup of ANY type of coffee keep that in mind.
S.
Great brekkie - perfectly poached eggs and lovely little hash browns. Great coffee
J.
Huge selection of tasty looking food, makes it hard when you are indecisive like me. Coffee and food was great.
M.
Underwhelmed with my latest visit (from out of town) as the cafe decor looks tired and menu really needs a revamp. Food and coffee is solid so 3 stars.
Note: Cafe didn't change their operations to meet Covid requirements (such as seating us on a table with other patrons not 1 metre away, and multiple servers) which is disappointing given how many elderly patrons flock there.
A.
This is a must visit place. You will enjoy every minute of your stay with a surprising experience. I personally think it's quite hard to find a café like this even in Auckland or anywhere in NZ. Keep up the good work girls ;)
n.
Great place to start your day! Totally lived up to the expectations!
C.
Excellent, filling breakfast and quick service. Good coffee too!
H.
Loved the brunch... nice service and tasty food
D.
Incredible service...outstanding food. Lived up to the hype. Will definitely come back!
t.
Oh my, an amazing array of choices, all well presented and our dishes delicious. Staff efficient and super friendly. Atmosphere humming.
D.
Super good eggs Benedict... the atmosphere of the place is pretty cool, good service, nice coffee and very central location
D.
Really enjoy dining here. The food and service is always wonderful. The only thing that let's Capers down is the acoustics- very noisy.
J.
Busy place - had full breakfast option and well worth it. Excellent coffee. Other meals not quite as good hence the 4 stars. Smoothies a highlight for the kids. Would go back.
J.
Yum caramel slice! Lovely service and great coffee! Nice to be in the air con on such a hot day, felt looked after here. Really enjoyed lavendar latte, it was different and tasted good.
e.
This place is really great. Quick friendly service, generous portions, and great open airy feeling to it. The eggs Benedict with pork belly is amazing, the eggs were perfectly poached and the pork had a great texture without being dry or chewy. The Americano is very good (no drip coffee though), and the desserts look delicious.
G.
Came to Capers for brunch and everything was delicious. We had Eggs been and the waffles. Big portion, overall happy with flavours and service.
S.
A place we visit regularly. Food and service normally excellent. New menu item this time was cauli and leek hotpot. Tasted OK but presentation very poor and very over priced for a small quantity of what was pretty much cauliflower cheese.
J.
Consistently fabulous. Fresh, healthy food, good service, great coffee, warm atmosphere. Good for groups of all ages.
V.
Ate all three mornings we spent in the town as we loved the food so much. This place caters for everyone. From carnivores to vegans. I have a lot of food allergies and find it very difficult to eat out when on holiday. But, this place thinks about all of that for you. It has a delicious menu. Food is quick. The waitresses are brilliant. They run constantly and smile the whole time. Well done ladies you do an awesome job! Next time we visit Rotorua we will be back again and again 😊
M.
Everytime I visit Rotorua if I have time I will come here. Love their food presentation.
C.
👍
Z.
Super kind staff and great menu selection. Nice wee gift shop as well! Highly recommend.
A.
Really loved our brunch here. Great options for veggies and meat eaters so it appealed to both my wife and I. The food was fresh and well presented and tasted great. One of those meals you don't want to end. We got soem cake to take home after and that was ace to. Really recommended this place
A.
Food & drinks - flavour was good but not great, menu isn’t huge but a good range of extra options in the cabinet
Service - quite quick and staff are friendly
Physical cafe - clean and pretty comfy
Chicken mushroom bacon fettuccine was really salty (think they didn’t allow for the extra saltiness of the cheese and bacon) and could have done with more mushroom
Sfinchini (like calzone) was yum - good flavours
Cauliflower salad was a bit of a let down - they’d par-boiled and then charred it instead of roasting so the flavour wasn’t really there plus under seasoned (hadn’t sufficiently salted the water they boiled it in I think?)
Choc peanut smoothie needed more choc and more peanut butter
Coconut flat white was good
S.
Awesome food. Good quality and tasty food.
If you give lower star because noisy and pricey. Go home and cook your own food then.
Pork belly was amazing.
W.
Loads of options for either a breakfast or a lunch. Maybe one of the bests in the town.
A.
I've had many eggs bene with salmon around our lovely NZ, some poor, some good.
Eggs bene with salmon at Capers was AMAZING!!!!!
Lovely staff, efficient, our brekkie came out SUPER fast.
All round lovely, clean and spacious spot to eat and relax.
10 out of 10
D.
Fantastic cafe in central Rotorua, food selection off the menu and prepared is great and very tasty. Service is quick and efficient and the the whole place has a nice vibe.
Well worth dropping in for breakfast or lunch whilst you're in Rotorua.
M.
What an amazing cafe, HUGE selection of scrumptious looking cabinet foods catering for all types of dietary requirements. Very friendly team & a pantry shop inside too. Silly Billy me 4got take pics 2 share with you all, however next time your in Rotorua you must go c 4 yourself 😀
Highly recommend just be aware it's not a cheap eatery, your paying for good quality authentic foods.
S.
Great coffee but the passion fruit tart was way too sweet and not passionfruity enough. The kids breakfast was lovely (especially the little hashbrowns)
M.
Excellent service yummy menu.
H.
Amazing food, great selection. Lots of vegan options. Cabinet food and cakes look delicious. Staff were extra nice. Very popular for all ages. Came here for breakfast and will most likely come later for lunch today! Coffee was pretty good too, they have rice milk for coffee which is a plus!
J.
I don't see what the big fuss is. Very normal place, it's not that it's bad, it's just that it's not that great. Didn't have gluten free bagels which was a big let down, and the turmeric lattes felt like they were full of sand and not very tasty. Quite expensive as well, just over $50 for two of us to have a small meal and a drink
j.
The best egg bennie with salmon... went there last Saturday & still i remember it's perfection. Stay Blessed whole team and keep doing meas as!! work.
Many Thanks
A.
This place has ruined breakfast for me everywhere else! Nothing seems to compare. The food is so good, the staff are nice and the coffee for me would have to be the best in town. It's the regular for me and my partner and the quality of food/coffee and service never changes. Highly recommended!
A.
Really nice local store and cafe. We enjoyed Brunch here today. Service was good and food was served very fast. Really enjoyed eggs Benedict although I suspect some items were not cooked fresh, rather had been on hotplates. Nice atmosphere though.
S.
Really like the food here, different from what I would normally eat at a cafe. Staff a real nice and helpful.
d.
one of the best cafes in NZ! must go if you're in rotoura for a yummy and aesthetic breakfast! the staff are so lovely and the menu is filled with many goodies to try out !
D.
Good food selection. Needs a few more places to plug in a laptop so that you can eat between meetings while topping up. Glad I chose this over my usual go-to.
N.
Food Great, Ambience Great, Good Deal for money. So far my favorite all day breakfast place. Keep it up guys.
R.
Stunning food and service. 100 percent deserves its 'Best cafe in New Zealand 2017' award. If you like going out for breakfast, then this is an absolute must. 5 stars
B.
We went twice. Service and flavor was great. Plus beautiful presentation on the plates. Always welcomed with a smile. Breakfast seems like the recommend meal to do. Pastry and coffee are also great!
R.
Had the eggs bene and blueberry pancakes and it was really nice. On the mid-high side price-wise, for example two large trim flat whites with double shots were $11 (thought all large had double shots as standard?? - but you pay extra for that as you get asked if you want single shot or double shot). Really nice coffee so happy to pay for smooth strong hot coffee. Cabinet food looks very fresh and tasty. Thanks we will be back :)
L.
Coffee was good, nice atmosphere.. was a little crowded.
D.
Good food but seemed pricey for what it was
M.
Had a birthday brunch and ordered the pork belly eggs Benedict and baked eggs with chorizos, both were excellent! Place was packed, coffee was good, super place;)
t.
Absolutely beautiful so happy we spent our last breakfast here before we head home the staff were so attentive making us feel welcome and making sure we had a good table and menus the coffee and smoothie were delicious and the food came out sooo fast and taste amazing soooo sooo sooo happy thank you capers wonderful experience
C.
Really good coffee and iced coffee ,but the ginger slice was so easy to eat i could of had heaps more
J.
Friendly staff and nice spacious cafe. Good portion size :) had their signature big breakfast and eggs benedicts. both amazing
D.
I love the variety of food at this cafe from the salad bar to the absolutely delicious cake and sweets. The staff are friendly, helpful and the service is fairly quick even when the cafe is crowded. Breakfast, lunch and evening meal menus are available and the food well presented. There is an area where one can purchase a variety of products. I work accross the road and always get my morning coffee from Capers
K.
The food was delicious! We had the vegetarian lasagna and a piece of the plum berry lattice. We loved every bite of both. They give you generous sized pieces as well. I would definitely eat here again.
P.
Popular cafe, constant stream of customers enjoying good food and.drinks. Large, spacious and rustic setting.
K.
LOVED this place. The breakfast was so good went back the next morning. Excellent coffee and the meals are delicious and great value. Our kids shared the kids breakfast with a a few extras. It even has a little kids room and colouring packs. The French toast was the best my husband has ever had and the oatmeal was so wholesome and delicious. Wish it was my local cafe!
K.
All I had was a cup of coffee, but it looked like a great restaurant. I hope to return for a meal one day.
S.
Visiting from Wellington, we came here after reading the amazing reviews and were not disappointed! Thanks Capers for a lovely breakfast :)
S.
The food was lovely. Reasonably expensive but high quality so I didn’t mind too much. Negative for me was the coffee. Decent but not great. Only 1 shot rather than 2 in a regular and they charged me extra for decaf ( which I HATE). Helpful pleasant staff. High chairs and separate kids room.
I.
A very impressive selection of cabinet food, however what lets this cafe down is the staff are so busy they are unable to provide timely attention to waiting diners. Good quality food but very expensive. Still, worth a visit if you want to impress, but there are better local options available. The selection and spread here at Capers will appeal to all tastes.
E.
Yummy foods... good value for money i highly recommend it - if you planning to visit Rotorua try capers for brunch or dinner you don't get disappointed as good service as well!
G.
We went in for a coffee and fluffy (kids treat drink of fluffed milk)
They have a little tiny playroom filled with Lego and books. Was a real nice surprise.
The staff were inslcredibly kind towards us and I also noted a staff member being nice enough to offer another child in the next table a couple of free tiny chocolates.
Amazing customer service and the coffee was great! Would come back again anytime !
J.
Decent selection of gluten free options. Really helpful staff and the coffee was just what i needed after blasting down the luge runs in Rotorua
E.
One of the best breakfast I had in NZ. Warm friendly service. Not cheap but great value for money. We had the French toast and the bacon with bagels; both looked and tasted amazing.
P.
A fantastic place to meet friends for great food and coffee. I loved the fact there was a play room for the kids. If you are going to go try and make it for those off peak times as sometimes it can get very busy. Other than that it is absolutely lovely.
N.
Food was yummy. Some reason when the muesli was ordered by a friend for the vegan option they had available, they removed only the coconut yogurt, almond milk, and kiwifruit... weird since all those are vegan 🤔. Bit of a hassle but otherwise tasty food.
C.
Clean, quick, great food and lovely staff. Coffee was delicious and Eggs Benedict were perfect! There's also a nice corner where you can buy high quality food and souvenirs
S.
I think it's fair to say, expect this place to be busy. One of the busiest place in Rotorua. Their menu is quite expensive, i had eggs bacon sausage potato and bread for $23 along with potato tomato salad for $12. Atmosphere is nice and the waiters are friendly and they do their best to help out, the younger ones aren't that friendly though
L.
Food and atmosphere were great. Very enjoyable. Would definitely eat here again if I'm ever back in town.
M.
My wife & I have visited Capers in Rotorua on several occassions now for coffee and cake. Today we had large cappuccinos and a surprise slice. The large cappuccinos came in mugs as we like and the coffee was smooth with good taste. The surprise slice was ample in size and very yum. Service was prompt & polite. Great ambiance and although the cafe/restaurant was busy we were not overwhelmed by the noise and could easily talk. We helped ourselves to glasses of still water.
We are here for 11 days holiday and wish we could take Capers home with us when we leave.
D.
Had a lemon slice from the cabinet and a nice coffee. Was brilliant for a small work meeting. Booked a table next to the window and service was spot on. Myself and my colleagues got our meals and drinks served at the same time. Perfect timing.
S.
Mixed thoughts about Capers. I went there today as a result of a, "Best coffee in Rotorua", search. The coffee was indeed pretty good and although I am unable to partake in any of the food on offer it did look very nice. However, as far as cafe's go, the feeling of welcome here was sadly absent. There seemed to be some friendly interaction between the staff and obviously know clients, a woman had no difficulty stepping in front of me at the counter and getting served immediately after I had been there waiting a little while. But as a complete stranger I felt very much like an outsider. No one was overtly unpleasant or rude but there was certainly no warm welcome or friendliness I associate closely with good cafes. My conclusion, Capers Epicurean could definitely do better.
s.
Food was nice and the service here is great - you don't have to wait too long for your meal. We found it was a little bit expensive for what it was. However, having said that, it is in a touristy location so that is to be expected. Good coffee here. Staff are friendly and are very accommodating.
G.
Wonderful cafe with a great menu range, and awesome all-day rotating salads, roasts, frittatas etc. Loads of healthy options. A bit on the pricey side, but the flavours are worth! The stuff are also super attentive and friendly.
M.
Amazing place! We stayed only 2 days in Rotorua but went to this restaurant more than 2ce! Very big selection of meals for meat lovers as well as vegetarians and vegans. Loved the stake in dough and the raw coconut cake! Their smoothies and acai bowl were lovely too!
M.
Great coffee .. awesome menu! Got takeout for dinner - the arancini balls were amazing, the fish was delicate, the spiced lentils were perfect. This morning we're heading there for breakfast before we leave for Wellington
R.
Super busy little cafe which always shows promising signs however there was confusion if you seat yourself or wait for someone to seat you. Ordered a butcher asahi bowl and coffee and was left sadly unimpressed as our first visit left great expectation. Won’t be or first choice for future breakfasts sadly.
C.
I really like this cafe! It’s really packed during weekend but the staffs and foods here were amazing! Would definitely go again the next time I visit Rotorua!
G.
Gorgeous cafe, best in Rotorua!!
H.
Warm welcome from the lovely crew. I love the ambience and you will be spoilt for choice of food here. Came here for breakfast today, I had omelette filled with avocado - it's super yummy! My daughter and son shared the Apple pancake with cream and my husband had the scramble egg on toast - all are satisfied :)
And most importantly, the coffee! It's organic but no fret, still full embodied.
M.
Always Fabulous food and fabulous service. Enjoyed a lovely meal tonight and no problem to arrive and order our sit down meal 15 minutes before closing. Thank you
C.
Beautiful interior, wonderful food with creative choices. Love the specialty grocery items!
S.
As the French say: "Formidable!".. Had one of the best bagel-and-lox breakfasts ever!
h.
My most favourite eatery. Great service, fab food and coffee. Never miss going here on our Rotorua visits. In fact had morning lunch and dinner there last time we visited.
S.
Always awesome food and service. Enjoyed my toasty and beans but felt the beans could have done with longer cooking so they were soft and homely.
R.
Yummy food, beautiful cafe and great service. Will be coming back with friends and family. A little $$ if you're looking to save a dollar is all.
T.
Awesome cafe, customer service is 100% perfect, very friendly and welcoming, food was great, decent portion sizes, I even had left overs as I was so full! Totally recommend checking it out if your out & about in Rotorua looking for somewhere nice to eat....
I.
I’ve been to this place several times for breakfast and brunch, this place is very popular and busy all the time, even at the level 2 it is busy. What I can’t understand is why staff is so nervous, made me feel stressed when ordering... Seems like they are not well organised and rude with each other...
F.
Great Kai and decent service, alittle over priced but would still go there again lol
F.
Yumma food GREAT SERVICE. Love it here. Always take people from out if town xx
O.
Food is good.. nothing special . Prices are a bit on the high side
S.
The restaurant is comfortable and is very big. The egg Benedict is good.
J.
Wonderful, had breakfast and 2 evening meals. Amazing menu, amazing cakes and wonderful deli-type shop and products. Highly reccommend.
B.
Very nice
Half size eggs Benedict was the right size
Had better iced coffee - might have been the paper straw
T.
Amazing place! We came for breakfast with kids, service was very fast and the food was delicious. Would totally recommend! They also have a kids room
N.
I ordered fish chowder it was nice but I have had better, rather to sweet for my taste.
M.
Always good food, whether ordering from the cabinet or off the menu. Open until 9pm every day and serving coffee until then (!!!) which is perfect for a night owl like me. This is one of my favourite places to go in Rotorua and I always it recommend to visitors.
K.
Definitely the best cafe in Rotorua!
I stopped in here at least once a day during my stay in Rotorua and was always impressed. The coffee is well made and the selection of slices is amazing.
Didn't get a chance to try anything off the menu but I look forward to going back soon!
M.
I like the little shop. I’ve had bad luck with the shelf food here 3 times. I gave it another chance and ordered fresh from the menu. It’s the way to go. The burger and chips, it was good.
S.
A wonderful cafe in Rotorua, great for kids too. Kids meals out of the top drawer i would have the burger as an adult. Not much wrong here at all
B.
The food is absolutely delicious and the service is great and fast, but the prices here are through the roof! An expensive resturant in Auckland wouldn't cost as much as this place so whilst we enjoyed ourselves, we definitely felt the sting in our wallets.
S.
I love their chocolate cake. 7.90 for a standard wedge size piece. but it looks the business and it's actually chocolaty. service is very good even when busy. which is often
H.
Great food and nice fast service. Highly recommend for brunch.
N.
Pleasantly suprised... always drove past never actually stopped. Second visit and well good food, friendly efficient staff and lovely homely atmosphere. Thumbs up.
S.
Second time passing through Rotorua and second time eating here, uncoincidentally.
The brunch options are pricey, but given the atmosphere and the quality/presentation of the food, we absolutely felt it was worth it.
Very impressive operation they’ve got going. A great place to start your day if you’re looking for an unreal brekky.
K.
Capers can easily take all my money haha. beautiful food, and the cake cabinet never fails to satisfy. Wether we dine in or are looking for a takeaway coffee and slice guaranteed we are met with quality service and food.
M.
Excellent breakfast with great coffee, quick service even though it was busy and a menu that suits most customers.
Will definitely go there again!
P.
Cafe had great selection of food incl healthy salads. Service was great, food was great. Would visit next time I'm in Rotorua for sure.
H.
Good food, just very pricey for the portion sizes. For instance, the eggs and toast was $13.9 and I was still hungry after finishing the dish. I could have just ordered poorly though; staff was super friendly.
K.
A complete must for breakfast or brunch while visiting Rotorua! So delicious!
H.
Delicious food and drinks! Big portions. Good, friendly service. It has pleanty of seating, yet, it's usually very busy and can be hard to find a table. It also has a small high end shop for tea, cooking sauses, and goodies.
J.
Best vegetarian eggs benedict in Rotorua, hands down!
L.
Pork Belly Eggs Benedict. 😱❤ Wow. Incredible! Beautifully cooked. Amazing food, massive selection! Catering for gluten free, vegans everyone. Incredible food, thankyou.
A.
We arrived half an hour before closing time in the evening and the window was already being emptied. We found the main dishes on the menu sounded nice but we weren't up for anything huge. We shared a Chicken platter which served with a whole ciabatta. It was enough for us but would not satisfy a hungry person.
It was very tasty but not cheap.
We found prices quite high for what was proposed.
J.
The food at Capers was exceptional totally recommend everyone eating there. The food not only looked good, it tasted good. I wish I had not been so full from the Energiser Breakfast, as I wanted to sample some of the baked goods. Thank you Capers.
S.
Great place for a quick lunch. Good food.
S.
Holey Shi*! The creamy mushrooms are unreal, just what id been dreaming about, with the crunchy chewy bread ,,, devine.. super accomodating when i ordered to pick up,,, super cool staff, smiley , friendly, and the iced coffee was perfect, with a cinnamon sprinkle that smelt amazing. THANK YOU Xxx
M.
Busy but fast and friendly service. Amazing standard of good for such a busy location. Great coffee and eggs bene was the highlight
T.
A great cafe/restaurant/store. The food was superb, and the company was awesome. The Lamb Shanks were tender and succulent, with excellent presentation and service.
u.
Great food! Lovely place!
D.
Had a great breakfast here, the food, staff and service were all good, loved the deli type store as well and actually bought a few items.
G.
Long opening hours so you can always find a coffee! Good range of food but lacking gluten free a bit.
Coffee not always fabulous, and portion sizes of food tends to be offputtingly large.
k.
Lovely inside very welcoming. Staff are polite and friendly . Great place for a catch up. Unfortunately bacon was cold and not cooked. Whites of the eggs were not cooked through, still runny. This was a shame as we were really looking forward to unwinding on easter friday and having a lovely brekky.
h.
I am very impressed with our breakfast today. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice clean and feel very relaxed even though they are very busy. We will definitely come back 😊😊😊
B.
Rotorua's most popular cafe. A huge selection of dishes are available catering for almost everyone's taste. Traditional meat based dishes are well presented alongside vegetarian and even vegan ones.
R.
Ambiance is good some of the western food is good but the asian braised pork is fine. The rice is not that high class but overall, this cafe is good. 😁
H.
Awesome cafe for brunch or breakfast. Fast and friendly service. Reasonable price. Highly recommended this place if you are in Rotorua.
M.
A great place to hang with people over good food and a drink. Can be very busy due to popularity and so if you want a quite place may fail to deliver at times. But still a great business and amazing staff.
D.
We travelled around new Zealand from England and visited this cafe. I had mushroom on toast and it was absolutely amazing. If we do come back some day soon we will definitely pay it a visit.
D.
It’s cozy and quite busy cafe.
They have lot of vegan friendly food options as well. I love their coffee and chocolate cake.
M.
Best service we''ve had...possibly ever!! Approached as soon as we walked through the door, great coffee received in 2 to 3 mins with cooked breakfast arriving 5 mins after that. Lovely runny poached eggs etc. Split a whole cup of coffee over table and 3 waitresses rushed over to mop it all up, no fuss, replaced coffee for free and without us asking. Awesome ladies...a real change from what other cafes offer. Can't rave about you enough, never been there before but will always come again when in Vegas.
K.
Great coffee and a super selection of cabinet and menu food. I love the range of salads! Oh and a kiddy corner and deli section too. Definitely a great spot for lunch or breakfast.
S.
Nice place with great food that was served very quickly considering it was full.
S.
Great food and atmosphere. (If you're looking for something vegetarian this is a great choice)
J.
Great food! Vast selection catering for all tates/preferences. Great friendly service.
G.
Had a week in Rotorua mountain biking with friends so had time to sample some of local fair. Capers was by far the best. Friendly service, excellent food, great coffee and nice atmosphere. Also great range of takeaway salads etc for bbq or whatever.
c.
food off the menu looked pretty expensive, however I was rewarded by looking in the glass cabinets. There was this excellent piece of stuffed baked rolled pork belly, in the form of the italian porchetta. However it was missing most of the nutty stuffing.
No worries, ask the waitress nicely, she checks with kitchen, and while the pork itself was premade in their factory, there was an alternative nutty mixture that they could put in. At $18.50 (mains on menu ranges (23-30+), it even came with a salad.
Display salads had great variety, chose 3 for $16.50, could not finish, taken away for breakfast next morning.
Hummingbird cake was some of the best imaginable. Coffee was specialty and nice (im more of a tea person so I can't comment)
Deserves its 1000+ ratings in Rotorua, top place.
M.
Perfect for taking the young family, they have a nice play room to entertain kids. Relaxed atmosphere, very good wait staff, reasonable price. Only place we've found where they have a reasonably healthy kids meal option.
B.
Really good food. Super selection and wonderful service.
k.
The food and service were excellent that's enough for a 5* from me but on top of that they were super helpful. I had forgotten my jumper there and had driven back to opotiki the same day. Having realised my mistake I rang them that night asking if it would be possible for it to be posted (I said I'd pay for posting) as I was not going to return to rotorua and they happily obliged, saying they'd ring me so that I could pay for the courrier fee but they didn't! Instead they sent me it without charging me which was extremely kind of them.
M.
Breakfast was amazing. Quantity was good. Everything's fresh.
m.
Honestly the best food in Rotorua. Great fresh dishes and salads and even some kids choices
J.
The pie was 18 dollars and heated in a microwave so it was soggy and yuck. The service was excellent though and it was good to be able to stock up on some gourmet treats from the deli section
T.
Awesome is all I can say. They were busy but still got our food out reasonably fast. The kids loved the food and the toy room. Would highly recommend.
P.
A great cafe/diner which has a great selection of cabinet food, a menu and dessert options. In addition there is a great selection high quality food items for sale; T2, Zarbo, Hogarths, and more. Lovely atmosphere.
A.
Delicious food and fantastic coffee. Service is friendly, but there's enough staff for table service, which would be a little more personal.
N.
Cannot fault, the food, the coffee, the selection and the service! The staff were so lovely, happy and accommodating and the food was just perfect, make sure you take some cakes home after!
A.
Reliably good food, service, set up. Would benefit from more careful and thorough descriptions of cabinet offerings. Substantial choice and plenty of temptation.
h.
Not from Rotorua, but every time I’m in town I make sure to stop.
Fantastic food, and can’t fault any customer service I’ve ever had here.
Couldn’t recommend this place anymore and would give it more stars if I could.
F.
The most amazing coffee! I'll definitely be going back. Friendly service. Good selection of cabinet food and local specialist goods
C.
Excellent coffee, & delicious treat options that are gluten free, dairy free, egg free & refined sugar free. Lots of seating. Kids' play room.
j.
This cafe is incredible! The food was sensational! We had breakfast here and absolutely loved the food.
V.
Great food, coffee and service.
Highly recommend 👌 👍
n.
Creamy mushrooms won’t disappoint.
T.
Breakfast with my mum and sisters before my wedding. Food and service was amazing ! Great way start to a big day
J.
All of the food was excellent. The mushrooms on toast had tons of flavor. The Epicurean breakfast was amazing, and all of the portions were very filling. Great value in Rotura.
A.
Favourite place in Rotorua. Consistently great food at all times of the day. Staff are welcoming and friendly and has great coffee and huge cabinet selection. Always enjoy a visit.
M.
Beautiful food great staff lovely atmosphere and reasonably priced.
K.
I love Capers and always end up there whenever I return to Rotorua. Fabulous salad and savoury range, wonderful cake selection (try their citrus slice!) And great coffee too.
E.
Amazing menu, superb coffee and lovely staff!! ❤️❤️❤️
R.
Great selection of breakfast foods and wonderful coffee. Staff is really sweet and kind, always greeting with a smile. Indoors and out, a great spot for brunch.
R.
Excellent selection of Gluten free and vegan food, becoming a regular now that the Fat Dog has waned a bit
P.
Great coffee, delicious keto peanut butter slice. The place looked a bit commercial for us, but it turned out very nice.
P.
Was good - nice food
N.
My advice is go for one of the complete dish options on their menu rather than choosing eggs and a side of bacon for example. By choosing a complete dish you will receive all the trimmings that make the meal look great and work.

Great food with free WiFi. Relatively bustly but not overrun. Would recommend to other tourists looking for the perfect place to grab breakfast and plan your day!
M.
Lovely big space, nice corner set up for kids. Large variety of food, which was tasty. Also has a little shop on the side to buy knick knacks.
G.
Capers Cafe is excellent, nice little store to the side selling extra gifts...oils,chocolate,spices etc
K.
Coffee is perfect but food is average. I had tagliatelle and it was a mix of various ingrediences which should not be even there and it was without a particular taste :(
S.
This review is for desserts only. I came here three days in a row for dessert and each item was delicious. I especially enjoyed the blueberry cheesecake. Lots of variety for those who are GF. If you can't stand GF options, ask before you choose since about 50% of options are GF.
K.
I had the salmon pizza here, which was just amazing. Everything was so well prepared. A bit on the pricey side but well worth it.

Got the pork belly master stock and it was full of great flavour and came with dough boys (which I personally don't like - but they were very light and fluffy) this dish was defintely a 10/10 - finished the night with a coffee and cake - I got a blueberry type cake and that was really nice too, sweet, moist and a good soft texture but the coffee was bitter and the milk was not textured and too hot to sip - I just assume they didn't have a trained barista on at 8 at night but overall a good experience

Lucky to stumble across this cafe for breakfast, amazing menu and even better execution
A.

We were on holiday in Rotorua and good quality cafes are hard to find there! Capers was great. Our 2yr old loved their kids meal and there's a kids room with toys too. Very good food and service.
P.
Excellent food with great choices. Just a shame i couldnt go more, there was at least 10 other things i wanted to try. The shop is great as well.
J.
Excellent eggs Benedict, and portions generous enough to comfortably cover the cost. Great smoothies.
K.
The coffee is great and be prepared to be greeted by an array of offerings - which is their signature showpiece.
A little on the pricey side but quality of ingredients obvious.
W.

Alas a good coffee. Visiting from Sydney I haven't found a coffee I really enjoyed. Along with a delicious salmon bagel with the trimmings. Good start to the day.
q.
When we've been there, we tryed risotto and lamb burger. The lamb burger was not good, pattie no taste and burger bun looks bargain. But risotto was not too bad!
J.

D.
Great spot. The coffee was reasonable. We were here for breakfast. It was good but no amazing. I would be happy to come back here.
K.
While the food was good I was not expecting it to be a little on the pink side, espspaly chicken which is what I had. I had a green salad with it but that was ruined by vinegar, and a hot chocolate which was not strong enough for my taste.
W.
Busiest place downtown... the food is good but as everything in New Zealand $$$$. A bit of a wait and noisy. Cold outside but they still had the AC blowing.
P.

Full marks to the young lad who made our coffees at around 3.30 this afternoon. My wife said her cappuccino was one of the best ever.
L.
it is okay breakfast, a bit expensive
R.
The food itself was tasty although it came with a chicken bone in the chicken sandwich. Not enough food - expensive for what you get
S.
