Highly recommend love this cafe. Great hot chocolate, custard slice & eggs Benedict with salmon. Good reasonable prices & great customer service love this place. Was blessed to have my friend share the local iwi history with me & the two marae & whenua history. Great day for breakfast 🙂

Great food, friendly and efficient service and lots of parking. We managed to get a table with a view and even saw a little black mittens cat strolling by next door. The (dairy free) banana smoothie was delicious (but a little on the sweet side), the lemon, ginger honey tea was good too. The seafood chowder was very wholesome and had good flavours to it - bread was a little small. The creamy mushrooms with bread was really nice, very generous serve. We took away a strong cappuccino, and that was good too.

What a great location, with a million dollar view (free). Excellent seafood chowder. Good service, lots of different seating options, all at a safe distance apart. Felt light and airy, a must visit when in Rotorua.

It’s a little drive out but the Third Place Cafe Rotorua has great food at more affordable prices. The service staff were also friendly. The fish and chips was sold out by the time we got there, which was such a pity! The lemon cake recommended by the staff was nice tasting. The view from the Cafe was a bonus. It has a beautiful view.

Awesome cafe, with an astonishing view to the lake. Went there with some friends and enjoyed a nice cup of coffee well prepared, tasting fresh and delicious. Good for kids because of its kids corner. Toilets clean and tidy. It was reasonable full for a Saturday 9am. Looking for the next visit!

Stopped in for breakfast. Had eggs on toast with a side of bacon as well as Fried Potato hash with Tomato and Avocado. Both were pretty good although the fried potato was a bit cold and dry. Great view outside of both the lake and the Anglican Church. Inside they have a jail for you child too! Grab some sweets for the road. Had a Passion Fruit one that was pretty good but the case is full with tons of choices. Parking is also easy.

We were recommended here because the custard slice was suppose to be the best! It was just ok personally, quite similar to your usual custard slice from the bakery. But otherwise their food was pretty good, quite substantial. The place also had a really local homey vibe

Visited on a Sunday morning and the place was very busy. Still managed to get served at our table, which was pretty good service. The place has a casual atmosphere and I can see a kids play area. The creamy mushroom sauce with white wine was excellent, I would go back just for that. Chewy bacon was tasty too. Coffee was well made, not cold or burnt. Had a custard slice due to its reputation, it was okay. Would recommend trying it out.

Third Place is a lovely cafe, the atmosphere was opening and relaxing. The staff were very friendly and great to talk to. They have a little outdoor seating area but mainly just indoors, but with the amazing lake view from the giant windows, it really opens the area. The food is quite good with minimal wait time, very suitably priced for the location. I recommend Third Place Cafe for all Cafe lovers traveling through Rotorua.

The Third Place Cafe is high on the hill, the outside doesn't give any clue to the great views from the cafe windows over the lake. The fruit salad I had for breakfast was fresh and yummy.

Had a lovely lunch with my mother who was getting some tests at the hospital. Food was delicious and staff were lovely. This is the only place EVER where I ordered eggs on toast but without the toast and they only charged me for the eggs! I paid as a side of eggs, not a whole meal. Such a simple piece of customer service that amazed me. Definitely recommend. And the views over the lake are awesome too

Shared big breakfast with partner, it was ok. What did stand out was awesome woman that took our order. Friendly, personable and helpful. She's worth money to that business regards customer service.

Wasnt what I was left to expect. The food was lovely, no complaints there. The attendant did mess up my bill when I paid, which was expensive for what we had, and I had to pay another $6 on leaving. But I mainly went there for the experience and those nice pictures posted here, but they aren't even pics from your table. The windows are high up, and you'd need to stand over someone's table along the back wall to see out the window. So for me it's basically a cafe in town. The carpark outside has a better view of the lake. 5/10

Credit where it is due, the food was tasty. But considering the price we expected better portion sizes. I got the blat and the plate was half hot chips and what looked like half of my sandwich. I would've preferred more sandwich and less chips. My partner got the big breakfast but again wasn't very big. The menu said there was kranksky sausages which by reputation are a medium size but these were very small.

Not a bad place to eat. Not much to look at from the outside but provides views of the lake indoors and a small amount of seating outdoors. Comfortable seating, good food choices and average prices. If you're in a hurry and requiring take out, probably advise against it. Your order is placed in a queue like you would dining in, and there is a bit of a wait but what do you expect from such a popular hang out!

We came here for brunch today and found this a really busy place. We were waiting in a long line yet not before long a lovely lady came and took our order. Coffee was great and same as our French Toast and Potato Hash Stack. Even in a busy morning like this the service was fast and staff remained friendly. I highly recommend this place!

Sat 5th December 2020 saw 27 staff members of HiFlo Pumps Rotorua and Auckland have their first ever Branch Christmas get together and we were privileged to be able to have it at Third Place Cafe. Nothing was a problem for Fiona and her staff, from initial selection from the extensive menu to partaking of same. The venue was exactly what we were looking for, to be able to socialize just amongst ourselves and the added bonus was that we were able to bring in our own entertainment. The food was excellent, so too the service. We would highly recommend approaching Third Place Cafe for a function outside of the normal cafe hours. To us it was a five star evening. Perfect place for any occasion. We had our Wedding reception at Third place and Fiona and her team went out of the way to make it special. The food was exceptional and my guest is still talking about it. Some of us went back the next day for a breakfast and was not disappointed with the quality food and staff. A must if you visit Rotorua.

3.5 Staff was friendly and accommodating. My husband said their caesar salad was one of the best he's had. He loved it so much he ordered some to take away for dinner. My Third Place Big One was nice too. I'm not sure if I was only meant to have one piece of toast though. Anyway, my meal was big enough. I got the chicken and bacon quiche to take away. Overall experience was good.

What a great little Cafe.. A bit noisy but that was it was just because it was busy like a beehive.. I choose the eggs Benne and was not disappointed.. Crispy bacon and two perfect eggs on 2 brioche toasted slices.. Fricken Yum Yum.. My other dining Peeps had a Ham and Cheese toasty and the Burger.. Let's just say it was Nom Nom Nom for all dishes... Sorry no photos as I nearly ate the plates... Downside.. because we were there at the busy time we did not experience the majestic view from a window seat.. Well done kitchen crew and well done to the young girl on her 1st day not dropping all the plates she cleared from our table.

I am really confused about why this cafe is rated so highly. The staff are friendly, but the food is pretty basic and bad quality. We came for breakfast. Two of us had a dish with “potato roti” which was very thin, soggy and tasteless potato pancake-type meal, the “lite” breakfast sounded like a good deal but each item was miniature and the fruit salad was scattered amongst the other food on the plate. There are a few small windows to the lake at one end. There are many better places to go in Rotorua.

Wow great cafe that I didnt expect. Lots of variety in the menu for brunch and all the dishes were great. Many options and extras for reasonable price. The views are amazing if you get a table near the window or small balcony. There is even a small sectioned off creche full of toys for kids. Building itself is fairly nondescript and could use a makeover but overall excellent cafe and nice location with view.

Visiting from Auckland, this place was excellent, we popped in while waiting for a tire to be fixed and glad we did. Service was 5 star and food was great. Good good and coffee and nice presentation. A couple of suggestions to the chef: for the mushroom breakfast, the bread could be not toasted and so can be used to soak up the sauce. For the French toast, warm apples would go nicer with the toast.

We ordered delicious smoothies, fresh paninis and Italian flatbread sandwiches ('sfigiuli' perhaps?) and a dessert from the cabinet rather than hot dishes as the kitchen was closed later in the afternoon. Interesting. My 87 yr old mothrt in law ordered toast. She got a plate of toast...no butter...no knife to slice the bread. We asked for and received.
