S.I visited this spot during my Northland trip. I must say, this was the only cafe in the whole of Russell who opened at 8 in the morning. I spoke to the old guy at the counter, guess he was the owner and he told that they had revised their timings for busy Christmas period. I was so thankful to him for this. The food was good and the Coffee was great. The Waitstaff also has good customer service skills. Would definitely visit this place again and would highly recommend! Cheers
A.Tucked away at the end of town this looks fairly ordinary with a very down to earth menu but we had a lovely lunch here at an outside table. The staff made you feel welcome, the prices were better than cafes on the water front which are over priced and you avoid the tourist crowds. As long as your not after some fancy Auckland meal this place is worth a look.
J.Love coming here for breakfast when we are up in Russell. Wouldn't go anywhere else!! Lovely atmosphere, great friendly people and super coffee. Definitely recommend the bacon and eggs!!!!
J.Our first stop in russel and we grabbed a long black and ended up chatting away with the staff who were accommodating and friendly, offering good advice on the area and gave us a map. Nice local feel to start the trip off :)

E.I would highly recommend the York street all day breakfast. Absolutely fantastic. Staff here will cater to your hunger pains land are more then willing to customise your meal and provide great customer service. I will definitely be coming here whenever I visit Russell! Food glorious food!
K.Well if you ever want a good americano coffee, this is the place to go. Even the espresso with a lemon peel was a great touch to start the day. Think I'll be back tomorrow and the next day and the next and the next. You get it. Stop here and you will be amazed!
Y.Disclaimer: I am very hard to please... The coffee is very average.. Never ever hit the basket with the tamp... Ever ever ever...It fractures the puck and damages the tamp and basket. Tamp level was seriously on the piss as was the technique... Milk a little hot and taste was borderline bitter (not from the roast) and lacked body that Altura beans has..due to overextraction (bad tamp and/or shot run too long)
Smoked fish and kumara bake was nice but a little too much white sauce flavor and not enough fish for my finiky liking.
J.York Street ~ local favourite for breakfast; brunch & lunch; thee best food; bubbly bright friendly young staff as well as the local owners with their local knowledge & expertise of the area and Russell township. Best place to be; in the center of town right where you can see all the traffic buzz and activity. Surrounded by cool little shops; on ya way after filling the puku with good kai at York Street Cafe, you can pop into the bookstore grab the daily local paper; pop into the bakery grab a fresh loaf of bread; & even have a mini massage. Highly recommend York Street Cafe. Excellent coffee and delish ice cream parlour. Parking directly outside the cafe can be hard to find on busy days like 'paydays' (Tuesdays & Thursdays) but there's plenty of parking just around the back
