D.Food is amazing, toasties are a family favourite!!!
This is just some constructive criticism… I went to out of the blue recently and ordered 3 toasties, I waited 40 minutes just for these 3 toasties which only had onion cheese and bacon so not much to ask. Their were about 6 groups dining in and I was the only takeout, it would be good to not be what i thought ‘pushed to the side’ because i hadn’t dined in.
This isn’t a ‘im never coming back again’ review because the food is outstanding and the staff are always on their toes doing their best!
Just thought you guys might like the feedback :)
K.The only place in town that makes their own food! I was sorely disappointed to that every other cafe in Tairua serves only supermarket-sourced cakes. Out of the Blue makes a wicked ginger crunch (proper old-fashioned style!) and an AMAZING hedgehog slice. Lovely friendly staff, too!
r.Nice food but some staff could be friendlier. 2nd time went there shut at 3.35pm - but other cafes open. Nice outdoor seating area.

H.Pastry is alright, I guess. Nice filling, not heated all the way through though... almost but not quite after having been microwaved, as that's how they heat the cabinet food. Birds flying in and out while we were there. Seemed relatively busy. One of the locals suggested this place among others when asked where would be a nice spot for pastries.
L.I was able to catch them open! I had a salmon and creamFinally cheese quiche. It was nice and tasty almost too moist. Service was friendly and the price average.
The cabinet could do with more salad type options.
When I walked in I felt it was all home made cakes and pies, nothing raw.

I.I enjoy having their salmon & cream cheese quiche. Lemon tart also yummy. Service was quick. Nice environment. Hot chocolate and coffee were okay.

Dropped in with a friend on a rainy day and we were greeted warmly by the staff. Good coffee and beautiful fresh muffins. Quite empty when we first arrived but it quickly filled up with customers. The breakfast menu looked good.Will be back.
M.Excellent benedicts and I still dream about the date scones. As Americans traveling on our honeymoon, we discovered this place leaving the Coromandel Peninsula heading south on our journey. One of the best breakfasts we had traveling throughout New Zealand. Still trying to figure out/copy your date scone recipe all the way in Atlanta. Cheers.

M.I asked... So I'm new here what are you famous for? Expecting to hear muffins or pies. Answer "abuse"! I didn't know what to say till she laughed - classic kiwi humour from Steve. She was excellent, a real one off. Not least being a lady called Steve! Turns out she recommended pan cakes - well worth 5 stars for the food plus entertainment value

P.We use this cafe as our local hangout. It's a basic cafe priding itself on great coffee and homemade food. Have been going there for the last 10 years and have yet to find anything better in Tairua.
