I like the setting of this place. It’s got two floors so it’s great for big groups. It’s well decorated and I know they also do private events if needed. I came here with my family for breakfast and I ordered the Buddha bowl and some coffees. Definitely would come back again here for this dish! Who knew healthy food would be this delicious. The coffee was a little too acidic for me but that may just be a preference thing. My parents had the fried chicken sandwich (forgot to take a picture of this) but they were just so so. The same fried chicken served on the waffle was good though. My sister ordered it (again I forgot to take a picture) and it was tender and juicy. I wouldn’t mind having this for lunch. Service was also fast. You can order your food through an app so there was no need to queue and order if you’re seated on the second floor. Efficiency is always something I value in a restaurant!

We truly enjoyed our very filling breakfast. We had the Buddah Bowl, Fried Chicken Waffles and SH power breakfast. 🤤 Food 10/10. Ambiance 10/10. The seating however..could be improved. We took a seat upstairs where the chairs were much lower than the table in the corner. Funny how 2 inches would make you feel like a kid at the grown up table where you can’t properly rest your elbows. If I weren’t too distracted by the food, it would have bothered me more. Take a seat downstairs and you would not have this same issue?

Popped into SH after reading good reviews & wanted something healthy to take to Acacia Bay for brunch. Lovely cafe, very popular but they get through the customers in good time & friendly. I choose the Falafel wrap which had a good mixture of ingredients & sauces which should keep me filled for some time.

It is big raining outside today. We are searching the cafe for pet's friendly. Then it comes out. We are so lucky can bring our little puppy inside to enjoy the lunch here. Very friendly staffs. Delicious food. Will come again next time. 😊

Delicious eggs benny, lovely decor and the filter Flight coffee was silky, flavorsome and beautifully brewed. The only thing I would change is the fried chicken waffles; they were a little dry and I personally did not like the herbs/garlic on them. All in all, a great recommendation for brunch in Taupo.

This was a newbie for me. We had a group of nine turn up at lunchtime without a booking. It was easy! The food was beautifully presented, there was plenty of it and it was delicious. My coffee was really good - a bit stronger than I expected but a great flavour. Shown is one of the burgers and the chicken waffles. Both plates were cleaned up by the purchasers! I feel another visit will be required!

We came here for somewhere different in town. We each had a drink and something from the cabinet for morning tea. Both hubby and I got iced Mochas one with cream one without which were good. Our son got a chocolate milkshake which was good by all accounts. Sadly it was the food that dropped the rating. My sausage roll was DRY. It needed a relish or tomato sauce. The only option I had was HP sauce which helped but not much. Our son got the egg bap which he said “didn’t taste nice”. Then hubby got a banana chocolate muffin which had not one bit of chocolate in it. Instead it was banana and “something else” which couldn’t be identified. Overall it was average so hence the 3 stars.

Storehouse is an excellent cafe slightly off the beaten track of Taupo city. They make excellent food and great coffee! The chicken waffles were a particular highlight for us. There is a lovely little plant shop in the back corner full of all sorts of beautiful indoor plants at reasonable prices. Lots of seating, both downstairs and in a mezzanine floor upstairs. Food came quickly but service overall was a little slow. Wouldn’t stop me going back or recommending though!

Found this cafe in the recommendation and it's really awesome as what people commended! All the foods and beverages have their own features. Maybe it's normal taste for the local, but we are a group of Asian which feel the taste are great! Nice café environment and friendly staffs. For the coffee lover, should have a try on the filter coffee (if you are prefer a sweet taste like me)

Ooooh wow the fried chicken burger here is AMAZING!!! Get here and get it in your gob! So good, service is tops and you can sit outside with you dog so that is another bonus. Did I mention the fried chicken burger?

I so badly want to give you more stars, honestly, but the food was just not up to standard they day I visited. star off because the coffee was overdone - the milk was overheated which spoilt the coffee and ended up being bitter and acidic. The other star was because the big breakfast was not too great. The eggs were overcooked (scrambled) which makes it rubbery. The potato rosti was yum though. But, the simple elements should be on point such as scrambling of an egg. The avocado on the greens as well was not fresh i would suspect and it lacked flavour altogether. I LOVED the aesthetic of the cafe, and the staff were very friendly. Ill give that to you. There is sufficient parking outside as well which makes the cafe accessible. I will be back sometime and I'm sad I didnt get try this cafe again to give a more comprehensive review, and to see if the standard was just a one off - which I suspect it was. Its just unfortunate it was on the day I decided to come in. If you're reading this review, I would say go give this place a go and let me know :)

The Buddha bowl was sooooo good! It’s one of the best brunches I’ve had in NZ. I also got a banana muffin which was so fresh and tasted like heaven. One of my favorite meals all around. Great vibe such a cute place. When in Taupo this is the spot to eat.

It's a very funky looking coffee place which has good looking desserts and pastry. There is a kids corner where they can play. On the floor there is plenty of light and some ta mes have nice views. The coffee is good as well. Overall, highly recommended!

Hipster vibes with fresh flavours and fantastic taste combos. After a run this morning, I was after something filling and the Buddha bowl didn’t disappoint. The tastes were so good and I almost couldn’t finish it. The father-in-law has a hankering for a salmon bagel and declared it very good. Finally the husband’s smashed avo was well presented with rocket, feta and an egg. When we arrived, I was tempted by the sweets in the cabinet but the substantial Buddha bowl put paid to that. I was pleased to see they’re licensed and a small but good selection of craft beer (plus Corona for those who like lager). When on holiday it’s nice to have a wee tipple with lunch. Highly recommended.

It's a great restaurant. Chicken Panini's chicken is made of drumsticks, which taste very high when eaten. The appearance of egg beneit looks very appetizing, and the control of each egg is just right. Thanks to FOH and BOH teams service. ☺️

If you want some of the best coffee in Taupo, come here! This place delivers great coffee, consistently, every time! I love the hipster feel of the interior and the staff are friendly. Before 8am, you can also get $3 coffees. The food is really nice as well. I love that they serve curly fries on their menu. The Storehouse uses Kokako coffee beans which are some of the best roasted in NZ! Fairtrade, certified organic, with a sustainability/eco-friendly focus. Who wouldn't want to support a business that does things right? The only thing, if you visit in the winter, the building can be quite chilly!

Last time I came was awesome but now the vibe is just ok, plus a massive wait for food. It's peak time perhaps hire more staff over the holiday period? I ordered the chilly cheese steak - great taste unfortunately overpowered by all the jalapenos. Friend ordered avo on toast, received hard boiled eggs instead of soft poached. Soy chai latte was way too sweet - let me add the sugar/honey please.

Was a cold, grey, and rainy day with a group of two couples and a small dog wondering how they could get a hot lunch inside, so a quick Google for pet friendly and we found the Storehouse. They were very welcoming to us and our small dog. Staff were all so very friendly and helpful, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Sausage Roll, Loaded Chips and Coffee were all delicious and recommend to all. What do you mean no waffle of the day eah? This is my go to, south of Auckland or north of Wellington, whichever route you’re destined for. Nothing else beats unless you’re heading out to the coasts. Kokako rules, food is awesome be it in vegetarian or the lovers of meat. Almost like I haven’t left Grey Lynn. Highlights: cruisey atmosphere, chilled tunes and grandma friendly.

Food came out in a reasonable amount of time for six of us, not fast but not painfully long. Food was decent, service was decent. My mates eggs benne came without bacon which we were pretty sure it was meant to include, he was too hungry to go and check... My partners Avo smash was small with more salad than anything. But the quality of food all round was good. I got the big brekke and it was good size, would have been epic to get hollandaise added to the eggs in hindsight. Salmon eggs benne was pretty epic, raw salmon not cooked 👌. Overall was a good experience, would recommend but not rave up.

OK. I can see why this place might hit the spot for some. The place felt clean, open and chill. A good spot to come with the laptop maybe. But our coffees were terrible. They both tasted burnt. I was unable to finish mine (even after adding sugar). My meal (the chicken waffles) was very tasty (definitely their strength). My partner's meal wasn't. He ordered the chicken burger. The onion rings were lithified and the satay kimchi tasted and smelled like old socks which was funny at the time but also made the meal enedible. It was overloaded with fried chicken, which would've been awesome if the accompanying kimchi slaw and onion rings were any good. I ended up giving him one of my waffles. The water glasses had to be replaced because they were dirty and covered in dust (the waitress did this immediately). Overall, it was disappointing and I strongly feel we caught the chef and the barista on a bad day. So try to take this review as a glitch report. It's not at the top of my personal Taupo cafe's to try list, but I'll give it another go later down the line.

Costumer service was alright, not many smiles coming from the staff. We ordered coffees, they came at a good speed. Then waited an hour and 10 minutes before we asked where our orders were cause we could see they were busy but a table who came 30min after us got their orders before us, we were then told 5-10 minutes after that I approached a staff member and she went to check 10 minutes later our first order, second order came out 10 minutes after that and our final meal came out 8 minutes after. Long story short it took 1 hour and 40 minutes for food! I know it can be busy but you didn't offer a discount or anything, if we hadn't suggested to a staff about getting free to go coffees, I don't think anyone would have said anything. On a better note food was delicious and well presented!

This place used to be one of my go to spots whenever I was in Taupo for work, always here for either breakfast or lunch. After being overseas for a while, this was my first time back in around 4 years and I have to say it was firmly average and has gone downhill since. Maybe changed owners? I actually came for breakfast and lunch over two days in Taupo and both times were average. The vibe was lacking, no music. The staff and service were lacklustre, unable to answer some basic menu questions. Condiments on the tables were all empty. The coffee was fine, but the food was average too. I had a falafel wrap in particular which had only two falafel pieces (standard packet/freezer falafel), with a sparse amount of other ingredients too - it was bland. Overall it feels like the love from the owners and staff is really lacking, as is the attention to details. This place used to hum, it had a cool vibe, great energy, great food. What a shame. I’d come back for a coffee, but probably wouldn’t come back for a meal.

After a rainy night in the camper, it was a lovely stop for a hot breakfast. The most difficult here is what to choose. What you see in the frontdesk looks really yummy. Delicious food and cool atmosphere, unfortunately the cafe wasnt very clean and all the tables were dirty. When I asked for some glasses for water one of the waitresses offered me coffee cups which was pretty disappointing as that's very unnecessary waste (I declined). The menu also wasnt very clear on what was vegan and some of the meals were labeled wrong (a meal with feta said it was vegan). Would definitely come back if they could make the menu a bit more clear with dietary requirements as the food was delicious

We arrived on Sunday morning about 10am. The food we had was amazing, as for the coffee well, I'm no coffee critic but I didn't not like it. We had the waffles, the southern style chicken and the strawberry waffles.... OMG, you have to try them, they are to die for. I was a bit apprehensive about dining here based on some of the negative reviews but it seems you can't always judge a place by what others think. Service was on point, fast, friendly and efficient. Price was reasonable and the atmosphere perfect. We will most definitely be going back. One of the top 5 places to eat in Taupo for sure.

The chicken waffles boosted with flavour something is not recommended I would have never tried now will def tell everyone spicy and sweet! Oh man their chicken and waffles were incredible. The chicken was moist af and the spices on it were amazing. The service was okay, and it really packs the noise in when it starts to get crowded, but nothing to get turned away for. The venue itself has an industrial feel to it, it was somewhat cosy when we went in there.

Today the coffee was lack lustre, the side of halloumi was undercooked, plus you used to get 4-5 pieces, now it’s 2 for $6! also got a weird side salad of raw capsicum w a balsamic dressing, w my smashed avo order, which had all mingled together. I hate capsicum so I would not have ordered this had I known - this hasn’t happened before.

Lovely lively atmosphere with hipster upmarket clientele in a minimalist setting, great out of the ordinary breakfast menu. My bubble and squeak was really good and my son's scrambled eggs cooked to perfection. Coffee not my favorite but the brand they use is renown for good white coffees but burnt long blacks.

Went here today after reading the reviews. Definitely worth trying out this place when you are in Taupo. Google maps took me to the correct address but I couldn't find the place as it is little unusual to have a cafe there around other industrial buildings and as it name suggests it was a storehouse. Tried fried chicken waffles and I liked that and coffee is also strong and perfect. My kid loved the donut as well.

Such a gorgeous cafe with lovely staff and atmosphere! It’s a chilled cafe where you walk in, grab a menu, find a table and order at the counter -pretty straight forward. Staff are so welcoming and lovely and provide wonderful service! Food is presented nicely and tastes good, coffee is divine but it’s definitely the genuine staff and service we’ll come back for!

This place is highly recommend. They consistently provide the highest quality coffee and greet you with a smile. The food is of the standard you would expect from a metropolitan centre and the atmosphere at Storehouse is very trendy and fun. It is worth the drive for breakfast/lunch even if you are staying out of the Taupo CBD

We go for the Budha bowl. Yummy fresh food with a delightful mix of flavors, from pakora balls, quinoa, beetroot, kale, hummus yoghurt etc.egg and extras if you want them. Gluten AND dairy free. Lots of other fried stuff and choices if that sounds too healthy. Easy parking too.

Epic Epic Epic! From the moment we stepped in the counter staff welcomed us. Service throughout was great and food was awesome. We had the fried chicken sandwiches, which were the best I've ever eaten. Interesting fact is that they use chicken thigh rather than breast, this means you get a super juicy super tasty sandwich. The interior was perfect for families too with a kids area. Tables large and the building has contemporary decor. Facilities clean and well maintained. Great almost awesome value for money. Great selection of food and drinks. If you have to crawl on your hands and knees over broken glass......you should go here! Update: Been here a few more times. Things have changed....Menu is now pretty unextraordinary and the servicecwith a smile has gone. Just a few grumpy dudes behind the counter. It's still ok, but not EPIC anymore.....

Storehouse Taupo It is easy to underestimate a good homemade muesli. Always playing second fiddle to eggs Benedict and smashed avocado on toast, the humble muesli is often an obligatory and neglected item on the menu. The Storehouse in Taupo does muesli proud. The tastefully decorated, converted storehouse, replete with a ubiquitous hipster bicycle, serves fantastic coffee, great breakfasts and a muesli worth writing a review about. Toasted grains and a generous helping of dates are served with poached fruit, fresh kiwi and banana, chia seeds and a delicate coconut yogurt. It comes in an enamel bowl with your choice of fresh, soy or almond milk. The best compliment I can give this muesli: instead of whirling it all into a homogeneous mass, I savoured each element separately and then in various combinations. If you are in need of a good coffee and a healthy breakfast, then this is your place!
