Always my go-to when in Town. And today it's nice to see they have done a nice little Reno. To update and give a bit more room. As always coffee good. Food good . I had the Chef Breakfast. Which isn't too heavy despite having egg. Hash brown. Bacon and a meat patte.

Grindz is a nice large cafe with plenty of choices on where to sit. There is a nice atmosphere and staff are super friendly even in the busier moments. The menu had a large range of options as well as a full cabinet to choose from. The French toast was beautifully presented and the candy floss is a nice touch, the picture will not do it justice, unfortunately. As a newer local, I cannot wait to come back and eat here.

Nice place to sit down and have a chat or do some work. Some of the upstairs tables have outlets to plug in a laptop or phone

Honestly, this cafe was an absolute highlight to my time in Tauranga. My partner and I came upon recommendation from family one lunch time, and ended up coming back the following morning for brunch! Devine menu, the creamy mushrooms was delicious as was the french toast. We had the same waitress Aaliyah serve us both days and she was simply brilliant, I literally turned to my partner and said ‘and this is how you do customer service.’ Thank you for making our short stay for a gig that much sweeter! Will be recommending to others.

We've been here a few times and every time the food has been amazing, not to mention the perfectly brewed coffees. I decided to have the French Toast, and I wished I had ordered a double portion. It was absolutely delicious, coated in the right amount of sugar with fresh seasonal fruit (strawberry, kiwi fruit, pineappel) on a bed of mascarpone cream, just the right amount of sweetness.

I have been to this cafe on some occassion with friends. I love the ambiance. I could not expect that the place is quite huge from the inside where either you want to have a privacy meetings, hangout with friends on a living room set up on the 2nd floor. I only give 4 star at this stage as I have not tried the cafe specialty aside from muffins, coffees, and pies which is quite good. They make good coffee. First time I tried was the Matcha. It was actually taste good. Just the right sweetness on it. The staff are amazing and very efficient. Seems like they have their regular customers too. Drop by to this homie ambiance cafe when you get a chance 😊

At last a decent cafe in Tauranga- the Quiche was yummy, chicken panini was good, bacon and egg croissant was average but desert treats were extra good. Even better was the friendly girl who went out of her way to help us even while trying to close the cafe. Put this place on your list of safe bets if you're visiting Tauranga

You know, Grindz is an old hunting ground for me. Used to go there often when working in the city. Now I go back when over that way. It never disappoints. The coffee is pretty good. The atmosphere is great, it's warm, friendly and comfortable. The upstairs is just a good place to hang out and escape for a while. 🙂

Excellent service, two levels of seating (as well as outdoor) and plenty of vegetarian options. A great menu selection as well as cabinet food. Coffee was great and delivered quickly. My vege special dish was a little dry but this might be because I asked for no eggs.

Had a beautiful breakfast here. A veggie dish, which I negated by having a side of bacon .... 😂 The food was beautiful. Eggs, spinach, mushrooms, avocado, a surprisingly tasty vegan sausage and an incredibly tasty beetroot hummus. Highly recommended. My wife had the granola and fruit which she loved. She recommended the coffee ☕ (very important aspect to those who like that sort of thing). Great range on their menu. Cabinet food looked amazing. We were tempted by, and enjoyed a delicious bliss ball (GF, RSF, DF). Free from all the bad stuff but cram packed with flavour. As equally important as the food was the staff. All that interacted with us were so polite, knowledgeable, helpful and very friendly. Couldn't say more. Highly recommend you visit Grindz and enjoy some time out

Service can be a little slow but the food is great. My kids love the scrambled eggs, I loved the vegan sausage roll. Coffee is a little hit and miss. I’ve had quite a burnt latte (they happily remade it though). The kiddy play room is by far the best idea. The room is full of toys and bright colours and is just separate enough from the restaurant that the noise doesn’t carry. Yet you can still watch your children very easily with many tables just outside the play area. Genius to have this room. Very family friendly place.

Quite spacious and family friendly cafe. We had just coffee here but many organic food range is provided for patrons. I gave three stars as coffee only deserves three stars. I had a latte but too watery, couldn’t taste coffee much. However it is certainly an interesting and cozy place.

This place is awesome so many options for vegan and non vegan ... I had a kiwifruit and blueberry muffin for breakfast which was delicious and fresh served with vegan butter. For lunch I took a serving of a vegan salad which was full of goodness but the serving sizes are very small for the price so just be wary of this ...the coffee was good and added bonus ...will definitely be returning again for the coffee and muffin

Visited for the first time today for breakfast. Friendly staff and awesome to see lots of Vegan options. We got the vegan scone and muffin which were delicious. The Veggie Breakfast (made vegan) was okay but could have done with more flavour, we added a side of toast which was needed to really fill it up. Coffee was okay. Decor and atmosphere was cool!

I had the Avocado on Toast. It was absolutely delicious. Dad had eggs benedict with salmon and also said it was delicious. However, my Partner and Brother ordered a big breakfast each. My Partner asked for no baked beans on just his one. Normally other cafes will substitute it for something else like extra bacon or mushys. But they wouldnt. When the meals turned up neither had baked beans OR bacon!

They make the best tumeric lattes and vegan protein shakes. I also love their vegan rolls and the breakfasts are really nice. A great set out too. A perfect place to go for a Saturday morning coffee catching up with my gym buddies after a gym session.

Unfortunately not Grindz cafe but Fat Brothers burgers who share the same location in the evenings. Absolutely loving fat brothers. Not the cheapest burgers but I'd say some of the tastiest. Definitely a good feed. You have to try it at least once, fortunately or unfortunately it won't be your last time.

Excellent breakfast food - including full English and specialities like eggs Benedict done 4-5 ways. Good for kids as there is a play room upstairs and also for business and meetings as there are larger tables in separate rooms. Can't recommend highly enough. I attended while working at World Car Free Day 2019, near closing time I bought the roast beef roll and a mocha - coffee wasn't very strong, less than generous size but cheap and tasty. - the roast beef roll was delicious with an ample serving and had really nice filling and quality beef. - the decor and vibe was fantastic. - staff were very bubbly and service was great.

This is our favourite downtown cafe that has wonderful friendly staff and the best selection of food in their cabinets. Lots of gluten-free and dairy and meat free selections are available with all clearly labelled as such, which makes a refreshing change! Their coffee is one of the best in town.

The short: Good: Tasty and good value food, amusing de or and comfortable atmosphere, good selection and beautiful display. Bad: A tad slow service from order to receive. The long: I am pleased that we decided to enter this establishment, after wondering around the ghost town which is Taurngas CBD on a Sunday morning. Its atmosphere instantly captured our eyes, and the gorgeous food display left us looking left and right unable to decide between which delicious looking plate we wanted. As there were few tables free on our arrival, the service speed would be my only real critique, however redeemed by the lovely floor staff who checked on us and cleared our table. The food arrived with a nice salad side and sauce selection, and perhaps in larger servicing than we thought. A nice surprise. My wife and I will gladly return to taste if the many other dishes on offer.

I highly recommend the white chocolate mocha and all sandwiches/cakes of Grindz because they are fantastic, tasty and homemade, it's quite hidden but once you get to know the place it's sweet as. The decoration is very attractive and good staff service.

Fantastic cafe that had a wonderful selection of food and drinks to cater for a wide range of customers. This was recommended to us to visit while holidaying in Tauranga and we loved our meal so much we just had to come back again, even though we were nowhere near. The French toast with fruit was divine and came with plenty of maple syrup, cream and fruit. This place was very busy both days, which shows just how great the food is. The cafe looks small but is larger than it looks inside.

Wow! Very trendy yet cozy cafe for all! A kids playroom included. Both outdoor and indoor seating. Lots of space! Sorry no pics! We sat upstairs on a comfy sofa with a coffee table big enough to hold all our plates of food and cups of coffee. My beautiful friends bought my cappuccino and shared their delicious morsels such as the pistachio cheesecake and peach muffin.

Grindz is one of my favorite coffee shops in Tauranga. Not only do they have great coffee but the food will blow you away. I love sinking back into one of their couches with a good book and a warm drink and watching the winter hours slip by.

My favourite place in Tauranga! Food is always yummy, and the interior is nice and cosy. It's nice to go read the paper or a book and have some yummy things. Recently a group of us went on a Saturday morning and had a knitting and coffee group and they were awesome, let us have one of the little rooms to ourselves. Really love it here.

I've already been twice and I've never been disappointed. There is so many choices that it's hard to decide as everything looks good. I appreciate the different options you can ask, if you are vegetarian, vegan or any other specific diet. As my partner is vegan and I'm not, we appreciate to share a meal without struggle for hours to find something satisfing for both of us. The food is tasty and fill you up, the price is fair and the staff very friendly and helpfull. I definitly recommand this café to everyone and I will go back to try the rest of the menu and all the beautiful sweet treats in the cabinet :)

Now this is a neat cafe to have coffee or lunch.decor eclectic , waitresses know their stuff,food above average.had a spring tonic which was quite different to the turmeric drinks etc I am used to in Auckland.very eye opening to drink but it kicked in and warmed me up and also stopped the joints aching.If grated turmeric was used it'd be worth a trip to Tauranga every week.
