R.We really liked this cafe. Service, food and coffee were excellent. The slow cooked pork breakfast was superb as was the prawn omelette. Nice little peep at the harbour and outside seating for warmer weather.
J.Hands down the best French toast in town! And one of the best coffee I've ever had. Absolutely lovely, friendly and personable owner and barista! I couldn't recommend this place enough, definitely 100% going back (multiple times). Thanks Otto, for the amazing drink and food!

S.We had a fabulous night at Oscars on Sunday. We deliberately booked this night as their roast pork dinner is legendary. It definitely lived up to its expectations for all 5 of us (one of our party had a meal off the menu which was apparently also delicious) . The meat was tender and the crackling perfect. Once again our hosts looked after us extremely well, especially considering it was a very busy night. Thanks Oscars we will be back (might try the lamb next :))
M.Fantastic food, we shared the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. We have eaten at the cafe and the restaurant. Both times we left feeling eager to visit again!
M.Food was good, service even better. Young fulla was a crack up, great demeanor. Little bit of a squeeze between bar and tables due to layout, but that doesn't matter when everything else is good. Thank you!
R.We had the Sunday roast. It was lamb .we had a drink each and it was a brilliant night out. Very good value for money. The restaurant is very clean and nice to be in. Menu is very satisfying with great deserts and the espresso martini was great.
T.Dessert and coffee were amazing! Helpful staff, even though it was one girl's first night. Spanish meatballs, empanadas and the pannacotta were the standouts.
E.Was dubious about the set menu for Valentine's Day as it was a significant birthday with family travelling to celebrate.
I needn't have worried, as the food was a delight both in presentation and taste. Service providers were both polite and helpful. A fantastic evening to be treasured.

A.Came here with a few friends for a quick lunch. The service was prompt and friendly but the place was quite empty when we were there. I ended up ordering the beef brisket burger and a flat white. (Backdrop of photo shows the eggs benedict). All in all, really good spot on the harbour-side that I plan to come back to.
R.Was trying to find a place for my colleagues and I to have lunch the day before we were due to meet in Tauranga from various parts of the north central region of the north island. After several enquiries with places to dine around the strand area, it was meant to be and luckily able to book with Oscar and Otto. Thank you to the lovely lady that booked us in for a table of 10. Our team got to finally enjoy eachothers company after 6 months apart and enjoyed a delicious meal (did not disappoint) with lovely service from the ladies who were kept busy with customers throughout the lunch period. Would definitely recommend and look forward to coming back next time we are in Tauranga.
J.I went there today and had a heated cheese scone with my coffee. Haven't had one for months.
No big deal, but Kath remembered that I like an extra butter. She knows her customers.
She is one of the reasons Oscar and Otto is so popular.

M.As usual, Oscars had a warm, friendly atmosphere and excellent service. Hamish and Isaac were like a well practiced tag team. The fritto misto was very generous and was enough for us both as a main. We had enjoyed the chicken empanadas as an entree first. The highlight for my wife was the affogato with Cointreau and I finished my meal with a tasty walnut and whiskey tart.
Another very pleasant experience dining at Oscars. We will return.
P.We had six people last night and it was terrific. Service prompt and with a smile and all i’ s dotted and t’ s crossed. The beef cheeks were the best I’ve had coupled with the Brussel sprouts and hot roast potatoes Perfect. The entree of Croquette wonderful followed by lemon meringue tart. Oscars is rapidly proving it is in the top echelon of Tauranga restaurants .

T.We discovered this amazing gem recently and totally loved it! Excellent, friendly service with charming waiters. The cocktails were delicious and the food was amazing! We got a shared antipasti, the beef cheek and steak and they were melt in the mouth good! The desserts were such a good portion size and so yum! We will be back.

L.Delicious. Welcoming. Unforgettable. All night we said to each other 'I've never had that like this'! The carrots, the brussel sprouts, the croquettes - we had maybe 8 different dishes, and didn't miss a beat.
I go out to eat a lot; most of my disposable income goes on food. I was happy to find that in the last year nothing has beaten Oscar and Otto.

It was easy for everyone to find parking nearby, the cafe room had great privacy, and the food was outstanding (thank you for being so accommodating of our dietary needs). We appreciated how the staff were mindful of serving courses around the presentations so as not to distract from the speakers. When polling the group, there was not a single piece of negative feedback! Thank you for having us, we look forward to seeing you again in the future.
P.Oscar is one of the best restaurants in Tauranga, and we've tried quite a few so far. Amazing food, great staff, and it's nice and warm here in winter too. We'll come back soon.
M.Extraordinary venue for large group bookings. We had the privacy of the beautiful cafe area, the set menu was 10/10, they catered to our large range of dietary needs, and staff were going out of their way to ensure our night ran smoothly. Would absolutely recommend Hamish and the team! We will definitely be back in the future.
L.The best food we've eaten out this year. Besides being absolutely delicious, the cook on every item was perfect. Every bite was amazing. We ate here during the Tauranga marathon but if we lived there, I'm sure we'd eat here every week! Such a treat!

C.Our team had a working lunch at Otto on a sleepy Tuesday midday and we were so impressed. The food was delicious, but by far the biggest attraction is the exceptionally slick and friendly service - Hamish introduced himself and we had the unusual experience of feeling valued and taken care of in a Tauranga eatery. I've never felt motivated to write an unsolicited Google review before - our experience was that good and we'll be back.
M.I got a Takeaway meal for 4. Beef cheeks, rice pilaf, salad and sticky date pudding. All exceptional and heaps of it. Will so do this again. Very scrummy. Thanks.

A.We had our first meal at Oscar and Otto last night. The first of many I think! They had me at pate and bubbles and made us feel as much like we were dining with friends. Enjoyed beautifully presented dishes, with no room for dessert we were left planning what we would have next time.

G.Sunday night roast dinner was fabulous. This week it was the pork belly. We had a toddler with us and they were so accommodating. Highly recommended and plan to make Sunday night a regular event!

R.Food was great but owner was erratic and gave odd answers to menu questions. "Its a bit weird but tastes great" and hmmm I don't know is probably not the best answer.if you're going to be front of house know your product.
m.Absolutely love Otto's. We live in Hawke's Bay, and have been here twice - both times were amazing food, coffee and customer service. If we lived here or if Otto's was in HB, we would be here every week (maybe multiple times!!) There is both the sit down menu and an amazing selection of cabinet food. Fab atmosphere with incredibly welcoming owners and clean, modern styling - really don't have a single complaint about this restaurant (except it isn't in Hawke's Bay)!!
H.Risham made us one of the nicest oat milk flat whites we've ever had. Lovely setting, great coffee!
