We are a group of 13 young at heart cyclists from the Western bay of Plenty socially cycling the Coast to Coast Kopiko route in 3 stages we finished the first stage back in May and finished on a wet Sunday outside of the Mou Mou Kai Cafe and store at Ruatahuna. Unfortunately they were closed but Kerewai Morunga Operations Manager for Te Tii Business and Accommodation units and she took pity and let some of our team in warm up and get dry. She talked about the 4 chalets so we decided to stay the night a few days ago and start our second stage the next morning. Kerewai did a great job, dinner was waiting for us in the chalets and breakfast in the nearby cafe. They also supplied an awesome cut lunch to enjoy on the roadside. The Chalets are very comfortable and peaceful, the Kai was great and the hospitality was great the team in the cafe were great. The diesel was cheaper than Katikati!! I would highly recommend this as a great place to stay as you cycle or drive through the beautiful Tuhoi country from Waikaremoana to Murupara. (Cycling is the best option as you have more time for all your senses to soak up what is around you.) I am sure Kerewai can suggest things to see and do that would justify more than one night. Stopped here after a long drive and felt so welcome! The staff were outstanding. Our breakfast was amazing..sausage, bacon, hash brown, eggs how ever you want them, tomato, a delicious thick crunchy slice of what appeared to be home made bread lightly toasted with butter and a salad on the side..all for only $15. Hubby only likes instant coffee and this was whipped up for him without hesitation. My cappuccino was perfect, strong and hot AAA+++ A very big thank you to a young local girl 'Freedom' for sharing her knowledge of the area and spending time with us during our visit. Special place..Special people x

We always stop here on our way through Ruatahuna, the coffee is fantastic and the staff are really warm and welcoming. Perfectly situated rest stop at the gateway to Lake Waikaremoana.

Very friendly lady when we phoned for a booking. Neat buildings and camping ground. Dog friendly. But unable to book in as nobody was available to attend to us.

We stayed in three of the chalets for work while attending a hui at Ruatahuna. The chalets were quiet, clean and warm. Great value and everyone was friendly. Will stay again if in the area!

Like an oasis after coming over from Tuai via Lake Waikeremoana. Great food at reasonable prices and friendly service. Worth the stop. Just need air for tyres.
