Service was great. Was busy but didn’t wait too long. My crispy skin salmon wasn’t crispy and I had two bones 😱. They replaced it, the skin was better but not as good as it could be. And second time round the salmon was cooked on the outside and cold and raw on the inside. Not very consistent food prep. Great atmosphere though. Would I recommend? For service probably.

Have been for brunch and dinner and both times the food, service and atmosphere was excellent.

We keep coming back here, not that its often. The service is always proactive, willing, and with a smile. The food is hot, tasty, perfectly cooked, all from a varied menu. The tea and coffee are so nice. Coffee sugar would be appreciated. Always plenty of room, warm, and outside is the best neath the big oak tree.

Delicious food, well presented and excellent service. Serving sized perfect for 3 courses and the deserts are great, recommend the cheesecake. It's not far off the 'main road, and worthy of the slight detour if your in the area. Highly recommended.

Dined here twice in the last six weeks. Didn't have reservations for our lunch group of eight. Was really busy but they rearranged tables to fit us in, was before midday so probably helped. Great Fish and Chips. Visited again for dinner, with reservations this time. Presentation was awesome as was the service. The Pork Belly was delicious. The Cointreau Cheesecake was devine. They change the cheesecake flavour regularly, so I need to return soon. Definitely worth a stop.

Perfect spot for a quite get away lunch. The meals are amazingly as is the coffee. The staff are so attentive and nothing is too much of a problem. Reasonably priced as well. You won't be disappointed with the drive out to Te Aroha

Don't be fooled by the name, this is a newly built cafe, very nice and clean and a great venue for your private function. Haven't sampled enough of the food yet to comment but the location is convenient to travellers on the cycle trail and if you want to go somewhere slightly off the beaten track.

A fantastic place to meet friends and enjoy a great lunch or coffee. Located on the Hauraki Rail Trail, its perfectly positioned to attract cyclists, with plenty of bike parking out front and a large carpark for those who come by car out the back. The Xmas menu meal we had was really nice and suited our work party well. Would definitely return.

Busy, busy, busy. Great service... quite exceptional really. Delicious food. A great place for large gatherings with catering options as well as a menu and cabinet. Priced from very reasonable for something simple right through to moderate for exceptional food choices. Will definitely return.

I have travelled past this new build resturant on a road between Matamata and TeAroha on several occasions ,so this time decided to stop and have lunch there with my wife. Very busy, which is always a good sign, this resturant was really humming I have to say . It had a real brand new look but the acoustics reminded me of a boarding school hall as it was extremely noisy with everyone talking enjoying each others company over lunch . However the ambience, service,menu selection, and of cause the food certainly overcome this perceived what was thought to be an issue which funny enough turned out not to be for us. A well priced menu and a full plate delivered by very charming staff. Extra hot water for the tea pot no problem as my wife drinks a very weak cuppa. Toilets spotless . A great lunch experience but the 'hall type' acoustics may not suit everyone. Will I go back . You bet .

Take my helmet off to the most decadent hot chocolate. No warmed chocolate milk at this establishment - no sir. Stopped in for morning tea - scrummy food but the hot chocolate was divine. PS: the young man that was front of house is certainly a tribute to the Cafe - very obliging. Most definitely will be returning.

We had a family gathering here after a funeral at the Te Aroha cemetery. We had nut allergies, gluten free and vegetarian diets to cater for and Teena and her team did an excellent job. Food was clearly labelled, looked & tasted great and was devoured rapidly. We will call again just for the custard squares & coffee when next in the area. Fantastic parking behind the building.

Lovely clean place. Great service but the food from the lunch menu was average. Hard poached egg on the ceasar salad, overcooked fish and stale dry buns. Iced coffee was top notch. Will try the cabinet food if I go back.

The custard slice and the fudge are yummo! But it does depend who's in charge of the custard slice sometimes it's lemon sometimes vanilla. The meals are good sized portions and nicely cooked. The only thing I would suggest if you sit outside expect every now and then to get a whiff of the sewer which isn't so pleasant when you are having lunch!!!The staff are lovely too. Overall a lovely day out. We will be back.

Beautiful cafe. It's not very old but has been done out beautifully. Not a huge menu, but food we had was very tasty and nicely presented. You can have a wine or a beer or cocktail, whatever takes your fancy. Will visit again

Poached eggs were cooked in vinegar, that's all you could taste. Toast has a dribble of oil on it so very dry. Butter put on your plate would have been nice. My partner said the bacon and coffee were nice. Plastic straws.....

Wheelchair access is good. We had poached eggs 🥚 with salmon and spinach on English buns. Delicious tasting and the coffee ☕ and hot chocolate were also of high quality. Compliments to Vicki the chef and the friendly staff who made us feel like being at home. The setting of The Old Forge next to the Kaimais and under Mount Te Aroha is a picture to behold and will be remembered by thousands of visitors and cyclists taking the Cycleway leg from Te Aroha to Matamata. Location is corner of Mace Road and Alexander Road, end of Stanley Road South. A must visit. GD.
