The food was ok. The lemongrass chicken only have a hint of lemongrass, probably need a bit more. We didn't need to wait long for the food even though the place is quite busy.

A very popular spot, the service was friendly and the food tasty. We found the music a little loud inside, with traffic noise outside, and it was a little bit chilly on a winter's day, but overall, we were pretty happy 😊

Very nice owners. After we arrived and ordered the food, they started getting very busy and full house! I can see they still managed it very well. Unfortunately the nice meal was ruined by one particular staff member (red t shirt) who wore her mask incorrectly exposing her nose. At times she never had it on. The glum look on her face speaks volumes. Not the right job for her.

Stopped here on a road trip just to grab a bite to eat. Really glad we did! Absolutely delicious food. The chips were yummy and the gluten free caramel slice was amazing. My friend had the lemongrass chicken and said it was really good. We ended up driving home back the same way just to grab lunch at the same café. Definitely planning a road trip through Tirau again, just to stop here.

Food five stars, service one star. Really enjoyed the apple, cranberry and pork belly pie as well as two coffees. Unfortunately the cashier forgot to notify the kitchen and we waited 25 minutes until I felt compelled to mention it to the cashier... then another 5 minutes for it to be warmed. We were hungry and finished our coffees before our pie even arrived, totally bummed. Cafe was not busy and they just seemed to drop the ball but weren’t incredibly remorseful and seeing as there are several other cafes in Tirau, I think I’d try them before returning to Cabbage Tree. There are a couple steps to enter the cafe. Toilet for customers was clean but very small.

I really need their great coffee to continue with the long drive to Auckland. Its always a good stop in Tirau and have something at Cabbage Tree, no matter you are handing to Auckland or the other way to Rotorua or Taupo. Very friendly and helpful staffs. Even with AA points accumulate.

There are so many cafes in Tirau. We found ourselves at the cabbage tree cafe it was a pretty random choice. I had poached eggs on toast my partner had the same but with bacon. No complaints at all, the coffees were also excellent. Friendly helpful staff made the experience something worth considering going back to.

I have stopped here twice for hot drinks while on road trips and we find the hot chocolate and coffees really good and have had really good service each time. Next time I'm passing through, I would like to stop for food and eat outside on the cool area so I can give it 5 stars which I'm sure will be as the food in the capnet looks delicious.

This cafe is lovely. My only contribution would be to offer a smaller portions. I had a beetroot salad which was Devine. I could only eat half of it. I think it was $13.50 I would have been happy to have paid $8.00 for a half portion.

Great coffee! One of the nicest mocha's I have had for a while! You have to try their savoury scones! Mmmmmmm yummy. Staff are lovely and friendly too.I also noticed that they have a wheelchair entrance and they have water out for your dogs :)

Waited for over 5 minutes at the till without being acknowledged. Cuppachino was delicious but our little one gave her fluffy a 1 star. She couldn't wait to dig into it, it looked fabulous and was the most expensive fluffy we have ever purchased, at $2. She loved the whipped cream but it did not taste yummy with warm milk and didn't touch it.

A rustic cafe with quick service. We ate the eggs Benedict (one with bacon, one with salmon). The portion sizes were excellent, and the Moroccan hollandaise sauce was delicious. The meal could have been improved by using wilted baby spinach rather than uncooked. The coffee was excellent and green tea was served with the bag out of the pot, so I had to make my own. A coffee cup was used for the tea, which was a bit odd. They need to use better background music rather than just playing the local radio.
